You basically have to find something your cat is willing to work for. It is also possible to clicker-train cats using play as a reward, such as dangling a string or whatever the cat enjoys enough. A good resource that can answer your question is the website of Karen Pryor. Just google her name and you will find her site. In the upper-right corner there is a link called "Cat Training". That leads to a page linking to many articles that can teach you a lot about clicker training cats.
Your kitten is so so gorgeous...and what a fantastic job you are doing training him..so excellent and one VERY smart kitty:)) i clicker train my cats, dogs and ponies it is such a great, fun communication tool. Awesome work:))
I just got two kitten, I got the 12oz Blue Wilderness Chicken Flavor. I accidentally left the top off and went into another room real quick, and one of the kittens was eating out of the container. The other kitten, and my cranky old man that is 13 and also likes them, I had been buying Temptations for years.
I'm bringing home a new kitten tomorrow, and I want to train him to do tricks. Are all cats this patient about doing tricks? I know some dogs tend to be all over the place when you're trying to train them (but there there is a large degree of difference in intelligence among the different breeds).
We recently lost a 12 yr old diabetic baby to Ketoacidosis. We have a 15 yr old cat and a petite yr old cat. We know we will be getting a kitten... probably within the next few months and I am interested in training it mainly for easy grooming sessions as both of my other ones go for nail trimming as they are terrors. How long did it take for Umbra to learn sit and to follow the pointer? Also any tips on home nail trimming. I know how, I just never tried training my other two and would like to save money on vet trimmings. $10 a kitty. We plan on adopting though petfinder.
How long did it take until Umbra started responding to the clicker? I've got a 9-week old kitten that I'm thinking about starting to try the clicker training with.
This is awesome! I have a 7 week old kitten, do you think she is too young to learn? And what kind of treat do I give her? I read baby food (tuna) works? is that ok for a kitten?
i love seeing a real person doing clicker training. That is a cute kitty and you are a good trainer. I thought I was the only one who had to hide my hands behind my back LOL Your logic makes sense. I've had to train my boy Bean to sit and stay or else he'd knock his own food bowl out of my hand . I have that same pedastle, I might use it to teach the two strays that have come to my home. they are like bulldozers and have no direction or patience,...yet. BTW, how did you get him/her to gently take the snack from your fingers? My two strays are still all teeth and claws. And what are you using for a clicker? i'ts so quiet and only one click.
Teach without tools. I LIKE YOU.
This is awesome..was looking for actual way to clicker train kitten and this is by far the best video which actually shows that!!Thanks
I love how the dogs are watching the training..."Cat better learn..."

Can you tell me what kind of treat you use for the kitten? My cat is finiky and will not respond to most cat treats.

what treat are you using with all your animals?
I love this type of training, it's so natural. Would it be possible to start this training with my 7 month old kitten?

I have a 9 week old Siamese. Is it too early to start?

from what age can you train a cat? two month? or three?
What kind of treat do you use? I'm going to start training my 2 kittens.
A cat...that listens? WHAT SORCERY IS THIS?!
Can you train adult cats?
Yes but it takes longer.
Yep, just as easily as kittens. They might have a short attention span though, so patience is needed :)
