The Fairmont Peace Hotel was built during the foreign occupation in Shanghai, It was finished in 1929, and was renovated to its former glory in 2010. Many world leaders have stayed here and 李克强 (Li Keqiang), the Premier of China stayed there on the same night as we did!

Shanghai is so amazing, really want to go and see China. Meanwhile, in the UK were stuck in a Tier 3 restriction type lockdown and facing the collapse of the economy, just brilliant.
I stayed in Shanghai a couple of years ago (I'm from the UK) and it is a beautiful city. Actually I went there to watch the F1 race but the city metro is awesome and easy to use. There was a park near the Bund full of cats for some reason, that was an interesting experience.
The old aunties probably feed the cats there everyday. The cats are waiting for their free meal haha.

Beijing is a no fly zone last time I checked.
I grew up in Shanghai and left to Australia in 2006, and I miss Shanghai so much. Having seen the taxi starting fare at 16 RMB is really shocking because it was like that when I was like 10 years old. Household income has increased 5 folds and taxi becomes so much cheaper nowadays. Anyway, keep up the good work guys!

There are many many more modern and stylish hotels in Shanghai. This one is a very historic one that is so precious to experience it. I love Shanghai and there are many places to explore, old and modern combined together. I live in Hong Kong and I visit Shanghai every year. Suggest to visit the old days and old places of Shanghai, and eat all the Shanghai local food. Recommend Jesse Restaurant 吉士餐廳 at 天平路. Don’t go to the wrong one with the same name in shopping mall.

The expensive chinese restaurant here is probably one of the best in Shanghai, although the staff can be a bit snooty unless you're someone they know or with someone they know they must serve well. This is one of the good places to have hairy crab if you're here at the right season (maybe around early to mid Nov if you don't want the growth-hormone-fed crabs). This is probably where i'll be next time i'm back in Shanghai. it's comparable to the Metropol in Moscow for all the history, although i'm not sure how much has been changed by Fairmont.

That ' Rose 31 ' is by the fancy-pricey ' Le Labo ' for Fairmont Hotels. I stayed at the one in Monaco, like Barrett, I sponsored myself ( from my piggy banks ).
the concept of pre-wedding photo shoots is to complement the slideshow of how the couple each grew up and up to this point in life during the wedding banquet. it's a pretty good idea, having some professionally done photos shown off during the wedding, often during or between courses during a lull in the MC-ing. and sometimes the couple will have gift photobooks for the relatives of the family, especially important today when often various relatives all live in different parts of the country/the world.

Taking wedding photos before the actual wedding means that you save energy for the bride＆groom on the actual day, the bride can try on more multiple dresses for different photos, and you'll have a nice photo album to show your guests at the wedding reception.

We have a fairmont- Claremont in Berkeley, CA.... I’ve had used Rose 31 before 😂😂😂smell super strong...pretty much like perfume
In early 20th century, during the war time, Fairmont Peace Hotel was a haven. Once people stepped inside the hotel, they couldn't hurt anyone or do anything bad to others. It was protected by Du Yuesheng aka the godfather of Shanghai by the time. It's pretty much like The Continental in John Wick series.
the peace hotel is not expensive for luxurious hotels in shanghai but still has good service, for better urban views, you can try the Bulgari Hotel or W hotel, Bulgari hotel is expensive, at least 5000 rmb one night

One gets a lot of information on the web about Peace Hotel and the Bund in Shanghai. The following is an example: "The Peace Hotel (the former Sassoon House) was established in 1929 and invested by Sir Victor Sassoon, a descendent of an Anglo-Jewish family. As the first high-rise of over ten floors back that time in Shanghai, its completion was a milestone in Shanghai architectural history and this building was thus termed as 'the First Building in the Far East'”. One notices that the high rise building next to Peace Hotel, once the home of China Bank in Shanghai, looks like an elongated synagogue; it must have been also conceptualised and financed by expat-Jewish people in Shanghai.
Asia Hotel in Yantai had a good English breakfast, had many rig builders from USA/Norway/ UK/Australia, lots of bacon and baked beans, hash browns, did not want to leave the place.

Hi, Lee and Oli, next time you visit Shanghai, try the Astor House Shanghai, if I remember correctly, it is the first modern hotel in Shanghai built by a Brit in 1860. It is also the first place in China equipped with electric light and tap water in late 19th century. Nowadays It is a humble hotel shadowed by the luxury hotels nearby, but full of history there. As Brits, you should go.
The chinese name of Astor hotel is 浦江饭店, and Astor has another hotel 利顺德in Tianjin built in 1863, which has accommodated so many western dignitaries including King Edward VIII and Herbert Hoover. Also a very historical hotel.
