Sounds good! The CC2 is a great version of the AC30, it just needs a speaker swap to get the fullness of the lows and highs, because the Wharfedales have way too much midrange (which admittedly helps the amp cut through the mix, but you loose the top end AC30's are renowned for). One of the easiest and cheapest mod though is replacing the preamp tubes with 12AT7s, which will make the amp a little more hi-fi (less gain, less sweep in EQ, more control over volume).

Nice sound. Now hear this !!. The best early sixties AC30 I ever heard was one with the Alnico blue speakers (actually Celestion G12`s with a blue magnet cover) This around 1965. The speakers were removed and the cones given a coat of Size (wallpaper paste) The roll surround was tightened up with a coat of black bitumastic. Then, the 4X EL84 valves were removed and the amp fitted with 4X 6V6 tubes with the necessary mods and they were grid biased in AB2.. This to get the full HT voltage across the valve. The standard AC 30 is not true class A anyway. A small fan for cooling was used as well. The poor Woden blue output transformer was removed and one originally made for 2 X El34`s fitted. The A-A mismatch not being a problem. A little -VE feedback was applied to the voltage amp pre the phase splitter. Solid State rectification was used instead of the GZ34. The tone control was established using a Fender BMT shelving filter fitter in the brilliant channel. (there is a mistake in the original VOX TB circuit making it interactive) The smoothing caps were upgraded for higher working voltage. This amplifier would blow away any AC 30 that I ever heard. Wonder where it is now ?. Very potent little amp .

"blow away" Maybe with punchiness but as for tone that depends on the tone you're after. The vintage units had a great tactile feel, stiffening the power section will reduce that feel.
To me a great AC30 tone is one with barking mids/softer lows and highs with great harmonic overtones and sponginess in the attack.I need to hear those speakers working hard and buckling a little.Negative feedback stifles the tone imho, those overtones rolled off is not for me.but hey that's just me...

I think it's a good amp for rock or soft rock. It can't get high gain distortion as a Mesa boogie, Bogner. But it's good in its sounds.

You don't have to put the amp to standby when changing to the other input jack.

How do you find the Jensens in regard to brightness? I'd have thought they might be a bit shrill? I had considered them myself but thought they might be a bit too American voiced to work in a Vox.

I have the same amp. When I first got it it was disappointing. I tried nos tubes in the preamp first. For some weird reason a vintage British Mullard I had made a world of difference in V1, and not any other vintage or current 12ax7 tube. Then also put an American 12at7 somewhere. That made it good. Vintage power tubes made it a bit better. Mine doesn't take overdrive pedals that great, it's a picky amp. But has that vox growl

    Thanks for the effort.
You really need to mic this better. It's very hard to hear the sound quality with whatever mic setup you are using.

Nice demo, I have the same amp except loaded with Wharfdales. Just wondering what mod you had done to the amp.

The guy who made it doesn't want to tell me what he exactly did. I only know this:
NOS tubes: Matched quad EL84 Lorenz (Germany), 1 rectifier GZ34 Mullard (UK), 1 ECC83 Philips Holland, 2 ECC83 RFT (Germany).
      - Loop circuit adjustment and improved clearness of reverb.
      - Carbon Resistors (same of vintage Marshall amps), PIO condensors (oil) Plessey (UK), styroflex Siemens, Poliester Philips.

Nice demo, man! In your opinion how much difference do the Alnico blue speakers make? Are they worth the addition cash verses a standard ac30 cc2?

I can't give you my opinion because I've never tested the Alnico Blue AC30, sorry.

Sorry man, missed the bit where you said you had the greenbacks and thought the the Vox AC30 cc2x was the one with the Alnico blues. Thanks anyway and great demo.

The modern Blues are great speakers but peaky in the upper mids in smaller reflective rooms. They are smoother and a bit smeared on the attack and rounded on top and below, like a good vintage speaker..still louder than Greenbacks though, similar efficiency to the Warfs. They make the low open E string pop out,not louder but sounds like it has depth to it...hard to describe, sounds kinda bouncy. That's the alnico working.
If you like the classic AC30 tone you do need speakers to break up a bit and compress,a little looseness in the low end help gives it that tactile feel. The CB excels here. The Warfs sound kinda stiff..quality speakers actually but not as good as the Blue. The greenbacks snarl nicely on lower mids but have crap for tactile feel.Again at 15 watts and with alnico the Blue will do this, the warfs and greenbacks won't
