Just listened to A Toi wow.. I play it too fast, just brilliant, so sad, and his style so elegant and bold, he never lifts and plays right through his shifts, old school but very moving thank you so much for that! Made my night
best greetings to you! Do you have more von Vecsey's earlier recordings? I read some negative.assessment in an old Strad Magazine by Henry Roth about his playing. Roth makes the mistake, of always comparing the early masters with later violinists. Because of their 'old fashioned sound production', modeled on 19th century ideals' he seems to belittle them. He is not focussing enough on the qualities which made them famous in their day! Von Vecsey is a case of such mis judgement.
Brilliant thank you. I love his Valse Triste and A Toi but never found a recording of him playing them until I stumbled into here.
