obviously im biased bc i love them lol, but i think their music is still so good! they dont churn out releases at the same rate as some other groups but i dont want them to be overworked (any more than they already are) so i think thats fine
the leader thing is interesting, sumin was the leader from debut up until the end of teddy bear promotions. after that, they announced a rotational leader system, with sieun and seeun acting as current leaders
also for the stage names! jang yeeun (j's real name) is already a famous idol in korea, from the group clc, which is why she needed a stage name. same for isa, whose real name is lee chaeyoung. theres already a lee chaeyoung (fromis9), a lee chaeyeon (izone/soloist), a lee chaeryeong (itzy), and twices chaeyoung. the only other stage name is yoon, which is a shortened version of her given name, so i think its more about trying to distinguish themselves from other idols who had already debuted
Any Swith knows Sunmi is the leader though Sieun is the lead for them internationally since she is fluent in English having grown up rich with an idol father managing her career. Interesting side note she was a jyp trainee because her father and jyp we're friends but his refusal to helper with her singing career choose to go to High up.
i respect his decision to do that. she really earned her way up and that must feel so much more of an accomplishment for her. also, who knows if she would've vibed in a jyp group or not and I think stayc's a good fit for her

Tbh stayc still is a hit for me, they gained recognition by one of their most basic song which is asap, which I love but still one of the most basic ones, beautiful stranger was a hit for me, bubble also, but teddy bear coming as a single after poppy was simply the dumbest idea
I feel like their first few releases did well to appeal to a general audience and they’ve niche-d down/experimented with their more recent ones. I’m glad they’re prioritizing the music they wanna make instead of trying to stay mainstream (but that’s just how I see it)
Asap was the most viral but they never got real recognition until Stereotype, that's when they're start winning on music shows. Stereotype did pretty well so do Run2u, the mini album I honestly think their best. Beautiful Monster, despite not received well by the fans is in my opinion their PEAK music and I will never understand why it got a lot hate. The song is freaking masterpiece. Teddy Bear became their most successful comeback so obviously they will continue to do that concept after the failure of Beautiful Monster.

I really like Stayc but I think beautiful monster is when they started to slow down. I love beautiful monster but stereotype, asap, and so bad were break out songs with break out dances that didn’t have to be watered down for tiktok where beautiful monster was more whimsical and artistic dances that aren’t so “aesthetically accessible” for the average joe. Teddy bear was either you love it or you hate it and the wait in between gearing up for the release of teddy bear and the wait for release of bubble was too long for songs that aren’t 1st time listen smashes.

@@kiritsu79 poppy was a separate case because if it was a Korean comeback people would’ve been satisfied. But that being said I prefer the Japanese version over the Korean and good for them for branching out to Japan.

I will never understand the hate Beautiful Monster had received. Personally, I think that's their best song. I love all of their songs but Beautiful Monster hits different. I think most of the fans just left because of the amount of new girl groups debuting under bigger companies. The competition of girlgroups in 4th gen is at all time high but that doesn't take away the fact that STAYC has one the best music. And oh, they can actually sing live too. 👀
I can't tell you how much I agree with this. Beautiful monster is one of my all time faves so is Stayc
