  • The Cabanatuan American Memorial used to be the prisoner of war camp of the Japanese Imperial Army during the World War II from 1942 to 1945. More than 500 prisoners of war were successfully rescued here on January 30, 1945 by the combined effort of the American soldiers and Filipino Guerillas.
The Cabanatuan American Memorial was erected on April 12, 1982 by the survivors of the Bataan Death March and the prisoner of war camp at Cabanatuan. It is located at the site of the former Camp Pangatian. It honors those Americans and Filipinos who died during their internment.
American Battle Monuments Comission (ABMC) recognizes the significance of this memorial. It has been in charge of its operation and maintenance since 1989.
This monument is one of the two historical sites in the City of Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija, Philippines located along Nueva Ecija-Aurora Road in Barangay Pangatian 8 Kilometers away from the city proper.
