I shoot like Buddy Hield. I really admire JJ Redick though. The way he shoots off screens and is always ready to let it fly. I've tried to train myself to shoot like him. Thanks coach for the video!
Personally in pickup games I prioritize shooting the most bc if u shoot buckets they'll guard you, 2nd move in priority "handles" if they expect a shot -> pump fake one dribble pull up, then practice the KD Hesi pull up in mid range then 3 pointers (currently working on it). Continue the handles and footwork then lastly your lay-ups correct me if I'm wrong but being short sucks I wish I was 6'5-6 bc I love shooting but laying up behind a big man and getting it pinned it's annoying best to use them in fastbreaks
I like Kobe and M.J.'s shooting forms the most. Too bad there aren't any players using their forms nowadays. Livingston and Kawhi are probably close, though.
I saw this in a video by some other channel (not saying his name cause idk if you want me promoting other channels on yours) that talked about using the shot path instead of a shot pocket and I’ve been trying to use it for a few months (started doing it around late February), but have never really been sure if it was effective. Now that you posted though, I’m confident in it and I’m gonna start working extra hard on it.
I use a lot of shot path analysis in my coaching and could give you a couple of tips on how to do it correctly and how not to do it. The loop visualizations (side view angle shot paths) you see in this video are some good examples of how to do it right. There is no one perfect way to do it. It is like your handwriting.
Hey this is a little off topic but in games I don’t know how to get into the paint because any time I try to drive the defenders always step in help and if I pass it one of my teammates nothing happens because my team isn’t very good
When I started placing my hand on top of the ball I started making alot more shots should I go back to placing it behind the ball or stick to putting my hand on top
Why does it feel so weird when I try to fix my set point to shoot more perfectly like I’ll try to bring my thumb above the eyebrow to have better form but it feels so wrong
How often should you do weight training to make shooting easier? Also what should you train? Triceps, shoulders? Usually muscles are sore and it feels weird to shoot right after weight training, how to fix that?
I think releasing with your pinky might mess up your rotation on the basketball people always say use your index and middle finger to aim at the rim for a good back spin and also your middle and index finger are the straightest and longest in your hand so it makes sense to not include the pinky
@@R2bball I always thought the rule was. You are allowed 2 steps when you stop dribbling the ball. I see 3 steps after the ball is dribbled.. Timeline: 4:07.
It’s dribble, hang the dribble so the left foot doesn’t count as a step. I pick it up when the right foot is the pivot then pivot and lift. The right foot is the pivot not left
Learned alot from your vids. The postup fade away one was excellent. I am left handed but right master eye. I can follow everything you suggest. But tend to need to turn more to align the master eye. Do you think this is ok?
Being cross dominant might affect your preference on how to bring the ball up. I also think that it might have something to do with your shoulder mobility. Either way, I think it could be ok as long as your elbow stays in the shot line and the shot is straight after the set point.
I shoot like.. YOU COACH I find it really comfortable and have been doing a similar shot but seeing you do it makes it easier for me to adjust and it has honestly been great, however there's a problem I'm facing, I can't find it comfortable if my legs are too wide or too close to each other? what do you recommend coach?
Corners and free throws I shoot like Danny Green bc free throws are pretty easy and corner shots are like free throws to me but a few feet off I just aim for the bottom rim in the middle and it's easy money but otherwise, pull-ups Its more of a CP3 I'm a mid range kinda guy even though I'm undersized it's satisfying to hear nothing but net...I wouldn't mind shooting like them
Ryan how do I fix my shot path? I bring the ball from the middle-left side of my leg to my right eyebrow, I want it to be straight. Is there any drill for that? thx
Hey off topic but my dad wants me to have a jumpshot Iike Michael jordan, high set point and a two motion shot, but i shoot always with a one motion shot and it works for me, and i actually want to shoot like Michael jordan but i dont have the strength to get the ball high enough, what should i do?
I feel like some of the things here depends on the shooting form. Like two motion, one motion, all the mechanics. Your tips work well for YOUR personal shooting form but stuff like thumb flick, where they hold the ball vary depending on the hand size and mechanics of the shooter. I really don't think you should say things like "the more we can limit off hand involvement the better" because people like Kyrie, Curry, Lillard and Trae Young all use off hand thumb flicks. And guess how good at shooting they are. Of course, having the ball come up from beside you and not even going to your set point is always wrong, but you exaggerated it like A LOT. The ways to hold the ball too, look at Kobe holding the ball. Now look at Curry. Curry has smaller hands, therefore he holds it on the sides instead of the 90 degrees from each other. This helps him hold it more firmly on all his quick releases. Now look at Trae Young, he does what you did at 2:44. But he can shoot from the unofficial 4 point line no problem. Your tip on just having the ball go to your set point is very correct though and it's probably the most important point, because most people lose balance when going off the catch and turning and instantly forget about it.
@@R2bball alright. I respect that. you have a lot of accomplishments so I guess you're doing something right anyway. just an observation and from personal experience. good channel a lot of your other stuff have given me good tips thanks a lot.
@@R2bball True. Shooting off the catch I try to do it whenever I can. I don't know how you have to many set points you can shoot from though. It's ridiculous.
my set point is pretty low( nose level) and when i shoot the ball covers my sight and i literally cant see the hoop. is that bad coach?.i did aim before every shot tho
As long as you see the ball before it covers your sight, there is a chance you are ok with it. A higher set point does make you a taller player in a sense and that could be helpful in some situations, but to me, it is mostly a matter of fast decision making and shot selection. Some shooters can actually shoot pretty well to the "visual memory" of the basket and it barely affects their accuracy. IMHO, a high set point is more important as an indicator of you using the shoulder in your jumping motion.

Attack close outs or split the gaps
Dribble through or pro hop through are probably easiest
Pound the ball and hop or lower your dribble
Hop step

On top / behind but not too far on top

Takes time for it to feel right

I have a question. Why does he have his shooting hand pinky sticky out? Is there a reason for that or just prefrence?
It happened naturally and as I studied more it’s supposed to release tension in the shooting wrist
I think releasing with your pinky might mess up your rotation on the basketball people always say use your index and middle finger to aim at the rim for a good back spin and also your middle and index finger are the straightest and longest in your hand so it makes sense to not include the pinky
Ryan Razooky Basketball ok thx!!
thanks, this helped a ton!!! Only coach that can show their wet and teach you every little thing to make me better.
Great video Coach, how often should I practice my shooting? Like reps and days a week
Everyday hundreds of thousands a day until you hardly ever miss. Missing should be a rare occurrence in workouts
Question! The fade away shot at timeline 4:07. Aint that considered a travel? Cause I always call it when I play ball.
Absolutely not a travel. Pivot may be picked up to shoot / pass

That was one sexy fade-away
Should my body turn a little bit when im shooting, like my right leg is a little ahead of the left
Gui F are you right handed or left handed? If you are right handed your right leg will turn to the left. But don’t jump with a turn
Right handed bro
@@guif1082 when you jump, there's a natural turn. No need to worry.
