What's funny is that Naruto was slated to be a wizard manga, but the editor basically told Kishimoto to change it to what we know now. Perhaps Boruto is that chance for Kishimoto to go back to that original intention while still retaining the whole ninja theme.
Boruto fans rise up and show your support for the video. This man read and watched the entire series from start to finish JUST for you guys, so you know he is doing the series actual justice for you all.
Borito is trash.Boruto's powerscaling is all over the place, most of the entire series is filler, the new characters are boring and uninteresting and people only watch Borito's ass series for Naruto, Sasuke and the characters we were attached to from Naruto. They completely fuck up the powerscaling and have the most forgettable plot I've ever heard of. They bring down the old characters we knew and love for a boring cast of snotty brats to shine. The new generation is the most boring setting to develop any kind of plot in and the whole Otsutsuki thing is just a recycled piece of garbage. At this point they're just going to build up to the shittiest finale to end the Naruto series we loved. Dont think I'm just blindly hating on it, there are some things I like about the series, like the animation, Code and that inventor guy, but most of it is just simply trash. Not to mention sitting through those filler arcs were genuinely painful, Boruto was trending so I forced myself to get caught up to that garbage and I dont regret that painful experience because now I can properly hate on that garbage of a show. It's plain trash.
My main issue with boruto as a concept is just surrounding the power in general. As a series it STARTS stronger than we ever saw naruto get. It’s a consequence of continuing the world but it doesn’t get to feel real because day one he’s fighting literal gods and we never get to have a “from the bottom” storyline
Yeah it's kinda like Dragon Ball if Goku suddenly skips over everyother Villain and is fighting Beerus in Chapter 1. The issue with Boruto is that it either can't keep it's power levels making sense or it can't use the New Generation without trying to make the Old look like shit. If there is no proper power scale between all these characters then what are we supposed to think? Baryon Mode is awesome but for it to happen they also severely nerfed Naruto and Sasuke and made Boruto somehow high Kage level? I think what they should have done is have Baryon Mode be the end of Naruto for real. Not just Kurama, Naruto dies after killing Isshiki and taking that plan down with him. I think they should have done a Goku Bye Guys thing sort of passing the mantle onto Boruto as he gives Boruto his Six Paths power and what's left of his chakra. That I think would have been a great sendoff for Naruto and Kurama. Now we have him alive but now they act like he was only Kage Level due to Kurama for some reason.
That’s why they nerfed the two characters who created the huge power difference. Let’s be honest, ignoring naruto and sasuke, the current “old gen” (Konoha 11/current Kage) are roughly equal to or maybe even weaker than the previous “old gen”, especially when compared to the previous Kage and the fact that there is only one remaining jinchuriki. People complained about the powers getting too ridiculous which is why the new abilities are still super strong but more grounded. For example, there’s no more giant chakra avatars, there’s a lot more taijutsu, and even the op villains have much more simpler powers compared to the end of shippuden. Ishikki’s ability was simple yet op (shrinking), Shin’s mangekyo ability was interesting but nowhere near as op as the others, momoshiki’s abilities were strong but could be dealt with unlike Kaguya’s which were literally unstoppable. Even the karma, although it’s busted, only two people currently have it and it’s a double edged sword with serious consequences.
Boruto being a genius is not really a problem but in og Naruto even the geniuses had to work their asses off (sasuke, minato, neji, the three sannin, kakashi, etc.) at the age of ten none of them were at a trans regional level (using scaling inspired by one punch man), let alone planetary level like Boruto apparently got. There’s a proper training arc lacking
The legend of Korra did the same thing. Anng is the atla has to get good enough at 3 elements in 10 months and we follow him through his journey throughout the show. But in Korra as a baby she can bend 3 elements without even getting a teacher which doesn't make sense. And then the show cuts to her as 16 already being a master at 3 elements.
A lot of the defenses of boruto seem to come down to “well naruto did it too, so why are you mad now” when in reality we were mad when shippuden did it and it feels like this series has taken on all the aspects nobody liked about the original series and excluded many of the aspects that made us love it in spite of those flaws
I hate how boruto "uses" Naruto and Sasuke, they are literally the strongest shinobi of all time , they should be the characters that fight once in every 300 episodes when shit really goes down, not Naruto going kyuubi mode for every single henchman. Their presence alone should make everyone shiver . I also dont like how boruto is fighting alien gods at the age of 10, that should be the ending of the show, not the beginning. They should have focused more on his training and growing up as a shinobi. He hasnt earned anything, he is just a genious that does everything right. They actually wrote themselves into a corner for using Naruto and Sasuke all the time and had to take away their powers... Lazy, lazy
@@xajspamzz8298 i mean its not like bad guys magically disapeared from the world, after the war. They could have made the stories more grounded. Narutos first mission is about bandits holding up a bridge.
@@xajspamzz8298 They really DIDN'T have to go further than Kaguya. They could have easily left her as a creator deity who grew to despise humans and felt the Zetsu were better. Even then Kaguya in of herself was a retcon as Kishimoto had no idea how to take out Madara, so he built a villain with an inbuilt weakness.
@@cartman55655 Boruto's.. Too are all grounded.. The things Boruto snd his friends handle on their own are things of their lvl... And as of now since they are not ready for God lvl shits.. Naruto and sasuke willtry to handle iit... So where is the issue.. It's not like letting Boruto handle all of em.. Or relying on.. If they didn't do this way.. Then it wouldnt even be logical... If they want they can do the basic shonen trope of mc overpowering his opp.. But in that aspect the writers are realistic.. And even let Boruto fet saved by his friends numerous times... The narrative Boruto took is just foreign for shonen audience thats all.. . But this was needed
Gonna be honest the reason immediately disliked boruto is because of how dirty they did naruto. Like having been through everything he’s been through, you’d think he’d be the LAST person to neglect his family. Seeing how they wrote him as neglectful, all work no family just felt so unnatural and abrupt that it felt like character assassination
not really, its been shown several times that family and friends aren't his top priority, his goals and views are his top priority. Which is why he cared about forgiving obito than avenging neji and his parents plus he doesn't have much of a concern for the next generation as he sees himself as the next generation. For example has naruto ever reached out to konohomaru at all?
I agree with you completely. Baruto series makes me feel cheated . Because it degrades many things in so many levels. Naruto series is better than baruto anyday.
@@shauvikpurkayastha764 first off, it’s BORUTO. And second, it doesn’t degrade anything, especially if you thoroughly understand everything about the Naruto series, which most Naruto fans prove every day that they do not. I stg if Naruto and Sasuke didn’t get nerfed, y’all wouldn’t be complaining. But I forgot, y’all value their power more than their characters. They lost the things that they actually didn’t even work for lmao. But anyway, idk why y’all worry so much and have so much to say about Boruto when y’all don’t like it. Just leave it alone and move on. It’s simple. You wanted it to be written one way and it wasn’t so now it “degrades” Naruto as a series. Dumbest sht ever. I have never seen an intelligent Boruto hater.
actually naruto's characterization makes sense. He's not neglectful on purpose but puts the village above all else so his "neglect" of his family is just the result of his job as hokage. Naruto not knowing how to be a "good" father also makes sense because he's never experienced having a father by his side so, by extension, he won't know how to be a father. Naruto by the end of shippuden isn't a perfect character. Just because we've seen the end of Naruto's own journey as a teenager doesn't mean his space to grow as a father has ended. And that's what the boruto series is carving out.
Please, for the love Boruto, let Konohamaru win at least once. I won’t get into the million reasons he should be stronger and more successful but he should at least be Kakashi but is treated like Iruka.
Preach. Konohamaru is the grandson of the 3rd Hokage. He was an early rival of Naruto and shares abilities from both of them. Why is he so bad? He’s literally only ever used as a plot device so that his team can show off their ability.
Well who so ever he had a fight against probably scales much higher than him, tho if we had him atleast scale up to Delta's levels it would've been appropriate atleast, He should technically be as qualified as Kakashi for someone who should be the next Hokage, i feel like he should get some buffs before Naruto's death or something like that to make his way to the 8th Kage
@@xsupremeyx9923 I don't think Naruto is going to die as in the future kawaki said he send Boruto to the same place he sent Naruto, so he will be teleported somewhere else. I actually feel Sasuke will die because in the future not only is Boruto wearing his head band, he has his cape and is using his sword, there is no way Sasuke will just give him all these things cause what will Sasuke use to fight himself, maybe you can make a case for the headband as he has given it to Boruto before and the cape is just clothing but the sword makes no sense since he has always used it as his go to weapon. I'm sure he dies and Boruto wears these things in respect for his master but who will kill him I'm yet to predict.
Having read the manga and seen the anime, my main beef with Boruto is that the pacing is absolutely horrendous. There is no buildup or threat to many of the antagonists, there is little to no gravity in all of it, and they rely way too much on Naruto and Sasuke to carry the story when it should be about everyone. Consider that a solid chunk of Naruto's peers by the end of the Ninja War Arc were probably Jonin level, due in large part to the stakes and the resources they all had access to when the villages united. Then a substantial time skip happens between the end of Shippuden to Boruto and it's like everyone was in stasis. They grew significantly over a short period of time of war against the Akatsuki and Madara and the writers tried to sell the idea they just stopped completely when Kaguya was defeated? That is complete bullshit. If they wanted to do the series justice, they would've built on what Naruto and Shippuden paved, taken the time to flesh out each character and actually give them some moments where they experience conflict and show how they grew after Shippuden ended. But they didn't. Boruto just gets handed everything and is a completely unlikable character even after he steps into his role, because his "redemption" and coming to terms with Naruto took all of 2 seconds when that seemed to be his major hurdle to get over, which was a dumb trait for them to focus on - if anything, it should've been a side conflict that Boruto dealt with as the way it was resolved implies it was never a big deal to begin with. In contrast, Naruto didn't even know who his parents were and when he met Minato during the Pain arc, that was a mountainous thing for him despite it not being a focal point of his character. That is the example they needed to learn from. That's my gripe. I think a lot of things about Boruto are interesting, like an attempt to understand the ninja world scientifically, the Karma, etc. but there's not much to appreciate in the characters or the plot. It starts at 100 and so everything else by comparison feels weightless, and the pacing of everything was and is totally atrocious.
they kindof did that with shikamaru in the last episodes of shippuden, which were genuinely good interesting episodes that grew shikamarus character and paved him and temaris relatinoship including sai's and ino's, I wish they did more of that before boruto came out aswell
your comment about the science in the ninja world gave me the idea that you could have a new steampunk nation arise and threaten the ninja way of life that could be a plot for boruto but nooooo instead we have "aliens"
@@MyFunnyVids888 they’d done that’s in the movie with the snow ninjas can’t remember the name but it’s a naruto movie it was semi steam punk with warship blimps and trains
Honestly, my issue in the beginning would be with the anime's slow burn, which probably turned a lot of people off from the show. Seeing Boruto be insufferable for over a year of weekly episodes was nowhere near as bad as the 8-10 monthly manga chapters. The side character stuff was nice, but having a main character like that was a bad experience. Once the anime started adapting the manga chapters, was a great improvement. I don't blame them since the manga is monthly while the anime has to keep dropping episodes every week
Completely agree and that was my main issue with the Boruto anime. It is so....incredibly.....boring at the beginning, and for such a long time. Now that the plots and characters and fights have gotten interesting again its actually worth watching. Now that said, there are some anime fights where the power scaling is totally warped. For example the Urashiki fight, the fact that Boruto is standing up to a being that has god like power onto Naruto/Sasuke is just ludicrous... and really makes it hard to take the series seriously sometimes.
lowkey i think he does it semi-sarcastically like "man, i sure do hate raid: shadow legends, but fuck it, i'm gonna act super enthusiastic about this garbage"
I laughed SO HARD when I realized Sarada's design, like when I first saw her outfit it didn't even register until I noticed she looked different and then I looked it up, turns out the guy responsible for her design just did it and NO ONE told him anything until readers pointed it out.
@@Amartin-mu6oj look at her original appearance in the manga, she's wearing high heels and her dress isn't exactly appropriate or practical, I mean Sakura had fashion sense when she was a kid but it's nowhere extreme what Sarada was wearing. So basically the guy responsible for her design dressed her that way and none of the staff noticed until readers pointed it out, now her clothes are completely different. It just shows no one was in charge
Sarada should've been much more thought out in honestly very disappointed like the side characters need some love too especially the main characters love interest
I think the anime starting off so colorful and happy is actually to it’s benefit in the long run. Boruto is destined to lose everything, it’s stated multiple times and shown in the opening scene vs Kawaki. Getting to see him live through the peace that Naruto created only to eventually lose it all is gonna be so gut wrenching to watch and I think the contrast between early and late Boruto will really drive that point home. The anime, much like the manga is already treading on some dark themes and I can’t wait to see how it’ll play out and delve even deeper.
I think ur completely right. For me, as more time goes on the Anime is getting pretty interesting and I’m glad that some people are starting to recognize that. I’ve been watching this show with an open-mind from the start, and sure I took others opinions into consideration (when everyone was hating on Boruto, still happening now) but I wouldn’t let their opinions change what I thought of the show. The patience is starting to pay off 👍
I want to make a manga when I'm older and I'm thinking of fixing this problem by putting a twist on absorption because its stupid that you can absorb an op jutsu or attack and there are no reprecautions at all
@@anonymousdonkey. I think absorbtion should be changed to disruption which costs chakra. There is no way nullifying a jutsu and gaining chakra can be written well. At least use up some rescources smh.
@@anonymousdonkey. DBZ fixed that issue. The androids had to absorb because they didn't generate energy on their own, but they also had a limit on the amount they could absorb before exploding.
Bro, Seth. You gotta upload more. Your one of the only UA-camrs I can binge watch all-day. Your my cable, Bro. Keep em coming. Edit: Obviously, this was meant as encouragement not for the quality of his videos to shrink. I will take those Animal Vs videos as they were far more interesting than I expected.
Finally someone says that too I feel like I’m the only who says something to That he does that since years that every 1-2 months comes 1 Video he should make atleast 2 videos a week that’s not much but atleast that
@@vistaxx everytime a youtuber increases upload consistency, it results in lower quality video and eventually burnout for the creator. Literally never works. Very childish mentality you have saying 2 times a week isn't much. Unless you are a child, in which case, normal thought i guess so whatever.
For me, the whole "nerfed" thing is due to two things: A- like you said, the absorption thing takes away their most potent abilities and B- other characters seem to just be improve just because Naruto and Sasuke are so strong. For me, the other 4 kage have no business keeping up with Momoshiki, and Sakura shouldn't really be as strong as she is stated to be. You can't have someone become godlike and then state someone else is able to keep up with them.... just cuz
This right here is one of the most egregious problems with the series although Sakura getting stronger isn't terribly bad. She was already Sannin tier as a 16-17 year old as it is so her gaining more power just by passively storing chakra into her 100 healings seal can be rationalized.
@@miracles4219 Whilst Kakashi was indeed a hardworker (I think everyone is) he's basically a genius who can copy almost everything he sees lol. The problem with Boruto is less about the actual story or plot, and more about how the story is being told/portrayed...the story suffers from poor pacing imo, and a painfully dull/uninteresting supporting cast (asides the team boruto)
38:51 You’re actually correct about that. The only reason Naruto is about ninjas is because Harry Potter became a thing around the same time as Naruto. I read somewhere that Kishimoto actually wanted his characters to be wizards instead of ninjas but the idea had already been taken and blown up.
Honestly my biggest problem with the show (and I have many) is that they've basically written Madara Uchiha out of history. It feels like the writer wants us to forget how strong he actually was in his final form because it sort of undermines all these new villains who are supposed to be the greatest threat humanity has ever faced. Straight disrespect to the GOAT.
And why do you think that character s in boruto should talk about madara, let alone respecting him. He was just a delusional emo who started 4 th war and killed many shinobi
That's so true, everytime something important happened, Kakashi was literally on vacation lmao, even when he's doing a mission, he's doing it while also going on a vacation
@@VegaFic or just read this these are his actual words to the questions Q :Are there any Naruto characters that have yet to appear in Boruto that you would love to have a chance to design in their older form? Honestly, I get the "aliens in a ninja anime" theme, and for me the problems I had with Boruto comeback to what the previous series kinda failed to do and what I would've like to see was a bit of restraint on the powerscaling. (But who am I to judge, I'm not a writer, I just like Naruto). However, I do admire the fact that you take it all at face value and justify the choices that were being made with the plot, major respect.
The issue is bc they introduced aliens, they can’t descale the power of anybody, but make them stronger to fight stronger opponents. And it sucks that it’s honestly just naruto boruto sasuke etc. that are powerful enough to fight these combatants. We ain’t gonna see no rock lee body anyone. Naruto set up the world, and we know how the ninja world works. We know who is powerful and who isn’t. Absorption of jutsu’s is dumb. They can’t keep doing that. But they also can’t backpedal bc of what they’ve set up. I mean the ninja war was ridiculous with power amps. But it almost seems like they’ve reached the ceiling with boruto. I know naruto and sasuke can’t fight every planetary threat, but something has to give eventually.
See, I want more villain connections. I want to see why Otsutsuki. At this point you could throw orochimaru in their place and it wouldn't change a thing. There's no connection
As Sasuke said to naruto at the valley of the end. “How do you know what it’s like to lose, you never had it to begin with” reflects kawaki and Borutos roles that are reversed versions.
Its just hard to care for Boruto when he gets the perfect life and family that his father never had and his struggles are not comparable to struggle of his parents. I care more about what Orochimaru is doing than the main cast.
Yea that's kinda done on purpose kishimoto already stated in a interview that his life is gonna slowly get worse which is brilliant narratively and for narutos and borutos dynamic because narutos life got better as time went and boruto the opposite we already see in the first panel that kawkai or maybe isshiki destroyed the village and its been heavily foreshadowed that he kills everyone besides boruto as he had visons of it so in the end boruto is gonna end up having a worse life than naruto and boruto does have some comparable struggles that naruto had as they both had to worry about the beings inside of them being unleashed and killing everyone close to them
I don't think you understand what Boruto's story is about. He has the perfect life BECAUSE OF NARUTO. If you're mad about Boruto having a good life then blame Naruto. Naruto created world peace. His neglect of Boruto is why Boruto ends up doing reckless shit (which is what Naruto used to do) This story being the way it is IS BECAUSE OF NARUTO. Naruto started from the bottom with nothing and grew up, got stronger and achieved his dreams. He has a family, a career, responsibilities as a hokage and has to learn to be a good father. Boruto's story is about how good his life was before everything got worse. Momoshiki said Boruto's prophecy is to "lose it all". If you don't understand that by now idk what to tell you.
@@BryMakesArt Unless his parents and all his fathers friends die out before he can reach maturity then i dont really care since there is not pressure, i I dont buy any new villain being more powerfull than Madara and Kaguya, its like Eternals villains appearing after we already had MCU End Game final fight, it won't create any hype.

This is why majority of the times I prefer seths videos than his streams he actully scripts his video changes his tone seems more calm and calucted extra
(DISCLAIMER: I AM A BORUTO FAN) I think one of the absolute BIGGEST issues with Boruto is something that isn't talked nearly enough about. And it's the fact that the creators/whoever is in charge of the property put a huge amount of the MAIN STORY in the hands of Anime Studio writers. People might say "wait, but isn't the anime-only material just filler? It's not main story.." That's precisely the problem. All of the Boruto anime- yes all of it- is confirmed by Kodachi to be 100% canon main story. I shit you not. The problem is, Studio writers are normally the people responsible for writing filler. There's a reason why a shit ton of people decided to check out Boruto with an open mind and went "wtf is this shit, its filler!" There's a reason why no one can remember 99% of the anime only villains names. There's a reason why the plots feel completely inconsequential to the actual story. None of the anime-only characters besides Sumire has appeared after their arcs, just like filler characters. This is where alot of Boruto fans sperg out and say "NOPE THE ANIME ISN'T FILLER ITS ALL CANON!!" Its like.. yes dude, we know. But it still FEELS like filler. That's the problem. Now, I'm not trying to disrespect the work that the studio does (the anime actually boosts alot of the things in the manga making it better, adding more context to various panels etc), however its just a blatant fact that the studio writers are NOT at the callibre of writing that even Ukyo Kodachi is at, LET ALONE the level Masashi Kishimoto is at. (We are directly seeing the gap in skill between Kodachi and Kishimoto as writers in the Manga right now with several characters having way more depth and psychology added and actually allowing it to breathe) Also PS, Ikemoto the artist for Boruto has barely any assistants helping him, so his art being bad or mediocre in Boruto is completely understandable lol
@@foodist5408 Your comment has nothing to do with this but here we go. Saitama is not a gag character and his best feat is planet level. Scaling him higher than his best feat without evidence is just wrong. With that said Goku is universal in base and has feats to show it. A universal buster would clap a planet buster any day. Until Saitama shows strength on par with Goku he is objectively not stronger than him. End of story.
I think one of the things people often either overlook or forget is that the disrespect of the characters is not at all limited to Naruto and Sasuke. This is the world Naruto saved, but he and Sasuke are not at all the only two keeping it that way. After the Last arguably everyone from that era should be aware that Kaguya lvl threats were a thing. Why is it that barely any of the ninja war veterans are doing anything and even fewer are effective at all? Why are the hokage all just fodder basically now? And this need to retroactively explain or handwave these glaring flaws end up subtracting from other characters in the newer generation. We can’t focus on the new shinobi because we have to thoroughly explain why none of the old guard can do anything/do anything anymore. It’s not that Boruto is terrible as a story, it’s that the story is horrible to those in it and in a fashion that anyone aware of the original would immediately call bullshit on.
I feel like Mitsuki has been getting done wrong for a while now, definitely deserves a bit of character development and more demonstration of his power Btw, wtf happened to Konohamoru, that man is so stale, weak and uninteresting Edit: lol i know there's an arc on him but anyone with two eyes and ears can see how Mitsuki is treated like shit (in the manga) and in the anime it's been pretty meh either way
My main problems with Boruto are that: 1.Naruto and Sasuke are being somewhat bad fathers. They themself lost their family, they should know better than anyone else how to take care of them. Too much work isn't a valid reason here since Naruto and Sasuke both have ability to come home at any time(teleport, clone,....). Sasuke's case is at least kinda understandable since he just went trained most of his life(like Kawaki case), but no excuse for Naruto. They even showed Naruto gave up receiving the Hokage just so he could save Boruto from Himawari, it makes absolutely zero sense for him to go down from care about his family more than anything else to care about Boruto even less than villager, heck even Konohamaru was treated better. 2.Boruto didn't really have a good teacher before Konohamaru, it takes Naruto Iruka, Kakashi and Jiraya who are all arguably the best teachers in the series, if not in the entire anime world. It would make sense for Naruto to teach Boruto, this shows he actually cares about his son and makes Boruto's strength not so natural anymore. 3.Sasuke is basically a support now, how come the rival of the strongest shinobi in the history, the one who has the ultimate rinnegan that even Otsutsuki doesn't want to deal with go down to a fuking punching bag who can just teleport around and can't do anything else. He KNEW how dangerous Otsutsuki are, so isn't that a good reason for him to FINALLY replace his hand with a Hashirama one ? Not only it increase his speed, strength, chakra and many thing else, it alsho shows that he finally threw his guilty aside and protect the village at all cost 4.Naruto's generation absolutely got disrespected, not just in the Isshiki fight where they just tackle in with no abilities or tatics, their designs are basically so digusting. Lee lost all his youth power, Shino fuking went from the coolest quiet kid (Sasuke would legit fail if Shino was in the rescue team) to the VR talk much but unnoticable dude. Hinata also lost the booba and oh boys don't even talk about Mei and Anko. 5."Boruto" show is basically about Naruto and Kawaki, like seriously just throw these 2 characters away and Boruto already lost a huge bunch of fans. 6.Naruto and Sasuke are nerfed so hard. Naruto's ability to use 1000+ clones, sense hateness, sage mode(used recently but nah not even that much), giving chakra and heal people just disappear. Sasuke lost literally EVERYTHING except teleport, portal and taijutsu, he used Chibaku Tensei once and nothing more, no other paths that would be extremely useful like Shinra Tensei to deal with the rods, Naraka Path to heal, Preta to deal with chakra problems or Animal Paths to switch with and tank for him. 7.Side characters get no screen time just like you said in the vid 8.Isshiki's built as smart or sth, but apparently not as smart as a random human like Madara. Madara completely controlled Obito and fooled him all into his plans, he aslo knows just what's the right moment to go all out and when not. Isshiki on the other hand couldn't even control Kawaki, but also wasn't smart enough to just take over the world after Naruto vs Sasuke fight. Note: This cmt talked about Boruto anime, not manga so there maybe some don't apply to it.
Yea man the barutards just wants to hide the fact how badly the anime has been written. The writing is inconsistent,Lacks suspense, emotional attachment.Trashed and neglected characters. With extremely boring episodes, dipSh... power scaling,No goal and a pathetic storyline. The anime is Extremely overrated tbh.
It's better for suske to be single To be more bad ass For me the reason is his clan of sharingan It's like a cursed I'm not Sakura hater but I think that is much better I also see the problem that It's hard to pocus on the new characters because of their parents It's like a copy cat
Fun fact: naruto was supposed to be about wizards, but harry potter became a thing at rhe same time to kishimoto had to rethink his original idea. Hence, how the concept of ‘ninjaaaaaas’ came to fruition
I would say my biggest gripe is the absolute DISRESPECT the series gives to Kurama. He had to "die" to defeat Isshiki and we had the worst send off in both dialogue between Kurama and Naruto and the fact that we got a few panels, when we should've had a chapter dedicated to reflection.

@@Camcola Funny how they barely used ANY SHIT, in the fight “Oh he’s just stronger” yeah no SHIT, but how come they use NONE OF THE SHIT THEY KNOW. The closest thing I saw to Shippuden level Naruto and Sasuke was the fight against Jigen and even then, still had me questioning some stuff.
@@nineten9011 yeah like Camcola said, Naruto and Sasuke actually aren’t nerfed. Isshiki is just that powerful, the only reason they probably didn’t show some of their iconic moves is probably just because of the animation budget of the episode.

I think the anime does a better job than the manga. For me, my main issue with Boruto is pacing of power increase. It goes too high too fast to the point it seems artificial. It goes so fast that side characters except Boruto and Kawaki does not have any room to grow. Initial Nruto did that far better. And also the fightings, boring as hell. I remember passing pages quickly with those boring one-sided fights ending with a deus ex machina. Boruto has some good ideas (Boruto-Sarada dynamic relation, Himawari potential, Kawaki, etc.) but it is mixed with very poor development of the story arcs. And a lot of characters are nerfed or not respected like Naruto or Hinata who is just a shadow in the background. Sasuke is quite well handle in comparison. But for me the worst bertayal are Konohamaru (we don't feel a potential Hokage in him) and Shikamaru. The most intelligent man of the Shinobi world cannot arrange Hokage schedule to enable him to pass time with his family and is always following events, never anticipating... where is Naruto Shikamaru genius ?
Sarada's look in the manga is about as atrocious as Momoshiki's look in the Boruto movie. Also, I thought Naruto gave his headband to Boruto once he graduated from the Ninja Academy.
"If you didn't like that you probably didn't like the Naruto series". Bold quote my guy. Boruto was derived from the worst arc and character in Naruto (Kaguya). The power creep is insane and they made Naruto of all people a bad father? It's like the people that made this series never watched Naruto at all.
I haven’t read or watched boruto, mainly because it just doesn’t look appealing to me. However I have read the last 5 or 6 chapters after I heard about what happened to Naruto and Sasuke and I honestly just dislike how the writers are seemingly completely ignoring what happened to them. “Oh yeah, Kurama’s dead and Sasuke doesn’t have his left eye anymore.” No lamentation or anything. Naruto has a swift conversation with Kurama and that’s it. Hell, they don’t even say if Kurama’s chakra will be reformed in the future as its tailed beast again or if it is permanently dead. It just feels like Kishimoto just wanted to YEET Naruto and Sasuke out of the spotlight as fast as possible and didn’t think about the effect that would have on the readers. Think about it, Naruto and Sasuke - the two strongest ninja on the planet - lose two crucial parts of their fighting style and overall power structure, and they just gloss over it like it never happened and move on. It feels jarring and I feel robbed
Seth i just want so say ive started watching naruto 2 months ago and will be done with shippuden in 2 weeks , so now ill be able to watch all your amazing content not just DBZ , looking foward to it
@@cosmictaint6072 lol I've only been watching Naruto because streaming sites have nothing good to watch and UA-cam is getting a bit dry , and also Naruto is filling the hole in my heart that dragon ball is failing to do
It's a great ride dude. I know the feeling. Been seeing so many interesting Naruto takes but couldn't watch them until 2 months ago when I finished Shippuden. I would recommend taking a break and mentally preparing for the letdown of Boruto. I'm about 150 episodes in and I can't justify continuing besides people saying it gets better. I'm not saying don't watch Boruto. Just give it a few months then dive into it. I went from The Last after episode 500 then right into Boruto and did not enjoy it. I hope you do and I hope it got better after episode 150 of Boruto.
You might, and I might, but that would probably be a several hour stream rather than a fully edited video thats over an hour long. Mainly due to how complicated it can get with some of the plot holes that happen
I think writing out Kakashi just like relying on absorption is to make the story telling in particular around the fighting easier. If everything is absorption, you no longer need to create the chess match between characters of using their jutsus. Kakashi is particularly relevant as the copycat ninja.
I really hate the argument of how you "shouldn't need to compare the two" or some variation. It's fallacious reasoning. Of course we as fans have a right to judge a sequel based on the original. Especially if it is borrowing story elements/ continuing from the original. Especially if it is doing those elements worse, destroying continunity or poorly handled retcons that make the world less interesting. I'm looking at you, Star Wars Sequels. Overall, Boruto deserves to be judged based on it being apart of the Naruto franchise and also on its own grounds. Personally, I like Boruto but I can't call it good. It's pretty flawed and very much was a cash cow made to captialize on Naruto. But the stuff it does get decently, Boruto and Kawaki and even the new era stuff I enjoy. Overall, the original Naruto was flawed but I liked it a lot. Boruto I like a lot less but I don't hate it. But I get why folks do.
For me personally i wasn't finished with naruto. I was still invested in his story and a series about him as a father and hokage would've been perfect. It also didn't help that boruto was whiny and unlikable. Naruto's negligence of his responsibilities as father also felt extremely out of character to me
@Billy Barry I like the collation with starwars. It shares so meny problems with Boruto in the story writing. That introduction that palpatine is still alive kinda reminds me of the introduction of Karma and Baryon mode. And the copy of the side charakter and Akatsuki reminds me of the fight where they attack the big base and its litterly the same as the fight over the death star. Not original in the slightest.
I agree with the first statement but that last statement not so much because it idk creates a more dynamic like idk parallel to past and current naruto
Yup... the transition from naruto to boruto was like a slap in the face for me. I can't help but feel if kishimoto wrote and drew this manga from the start, it wouldn't have faced its current controversy. He knew how to draw good action sequences, and for a weekly manga at the time, it was a very good looking manga.
Look I love naruto wit all my heart. It's one of my favorites. But I still can't bring myself to watch boruto cuz I just see it as a milking. Kaguya being shoved in all our faces at the very end to make like a double twist was so fuckin forced to set up boruto. Madara shoulda been the end all be all. Another thing is that naruto and sasuke were so fuckin strong by the end its just hard to believe that there was someone more powerful this whole time. Idk maybe one day I'll start it but I genuinely feel like this shit was not needed. I ain't gon be mad for ppl watching it I just can't do it at least not yet
@@darthzeppid understand completely how you feel. But in the end I can't bring myself to completely give up on this series. Now I know how comic fans feel when there favorite series get written and drawn by someone else.
@@darthzeppid the story of kaguya was written way before, it wasn’t forced, just hurried. Which is equally as bad, but don’t think it was just a setup for boruto. And it’s not milking lmfao, people like you just can’t help the fact that narutos era is over.
@@Nilmil_0838 bro I wanted it to stay dead after madara it woulda been fine. I'm not saying continue the story but with naruto nah. To me it just shoulda ended. And kaguya wasn't foreshadowed lol. Shit was pulled straight out his ass. Kishi thought of the sage of six paths during pain arc and he thought of kaguya towards the end of the series. It's cool tho I'm not here to shit on boruto. The ppl who watch seem to like it a lot. I just don't care to watch it. And u know what? That's perfectly fine
Naruto and Sasuke needed to be nerfed for the sake of Boruto’s story, but the way they went about it is the problem. The writing around it is lazy. Their solution was poorly written with almost no thought. IMO they should have put more thought BEFORE they wrote the series. At least some sort of plan. From my perspective Sasuke is the character that, out of everyone in the entire verse, is not the type to let his guard down let alone get his eye stabbed out. I also don’t think it’s fair to say the anime is good by any means considering the fact that only ~20% is manga canon. The rest is a mix of “Anime canon” (a lot of which is pulled directly from and inspired by things that we already saw in Naruto) and filler. Obviously he’s speaking on the manga, my point is based more in my opinions on the anime. I think that Naruto’s story should have ended with shippuden and any other content surrounding the universe should have taken place during a time period or in a village completely unrelated to Naruto. Too many plot holes. Too few interesting characters. Very few new ideas.
To be fair, Sasuke did get beaten up a lot before that and Momoshiki isn't exactly weak/slow. Still out of nowhere and could have been better, but it's at least kinda understandable. As for the anime, I'd say it's really a matter of opinion, because for me some stuff like the Mitsuki arc and some random episodes were incredible. Also, even though I dislike how bullshit the new manga characters' powers are, I feel like that can lead to a good story in the future.
There are many things that can be debunked in this. Like Sasuke not noticing Borushiki. First they just fought a god and someone entirely stronger, and he was also weakened. They’re already fighting one god, of course he’s not gonna have enough time, not only to react, but also have the capability to fight back. Last but not least, you have to apply that same logic to Madara when he was not only backstabbed not once, not twice, but three times I believe. Zetsu is the weakest character in the entire show and managed to basically kill the strongest character. The same is for here, they know Boruto has Momoshiki, you can’t expect them to know when he comes out at a specific time. They’re strong ninjas of course, but the Uchiha are not mind readers.
@@yungsafe that’s not lazy writing. In fact, I’d go as far to say that Madara dying by being backstabbed was simply because he had no one backing him. He played people like tools, and ended up getting played. Now I will agree that they did shoehorn Kaguya in, however. Madara has been betrayed two times. Obito and Zetsu. One guy said they since he had no one to follow him, he had no one to watch his back. Which is why at the end he said that maybe the way he went about things was wrong and Hashirama was right. That’s not lazy writing
As someone who never read the manga, it's shocking to me how different the experience seems to be. A lot of the complaints you had, I would have had them too, and they're mostly countered in the anime. As for the start of the series which is more laid back, it was actually a really refreshing breather for me after the hundreds of hours of fighting at the end of part 2. It was nice to just /be in the world/ for a bit. The end of part 2 almost felt like a barren dream, stuff was happening but if you looked in the periphery it was all blank and fuzzy. I get it was a war, but wars don't have to be empty surrounding the fight. For me that's what makes a series good and the anime has that in spades.
Fr, i definitely enjoyed the filler and shit too. Kinda let me admire other aspects about the anime and let me really appreciate the peace that naruto and the others worked so hard for all while watching my favorite characters!
I agree with a lot of this. Especially in regard to how Sarada, Mitsuki, and Konohamaru are treated. But I'm an anime watcher. I hope in both mediums they get more development. Also you sound like you're tickled to death by the sponsorship.
I mean kishimoto gave sarada her own arc he seems like he cares for her character unlike the previous author that only gave her the chidori and called it a day
I like how you approached this video, your focusing on the manga while giving points to the anime when it deserved it was very refreshing. I would like to see your opinions on the anime only arcs that set up the manga chapters (Mitsuki desertion, hozuki castle, land of silence etc.) and how they add onto the characters. Overall I think this was a pretty solid analysis and would like to see some more Of these videos
I cant stress enough that SethTheProgrammer is a true saint to the Naruto series and community. Many and i mean many other people in this community either forget, downplay, overlook, gatekeep, or simply just let their dislike turn to pure hate For characters, plots, arcs, and fights in the Naruto series, but Seth is different. Not only is he a big enough fan to actually do the research of what he talks about, but he is amazing for even speaking up and going back on something that he could have been wrong about it and not just simply going with what is the popular thing to do. A+++ Tier Narutuber. EDIT Rant: I swear no one hates the naruto franchise as much as Naruto fans, especially after what happened recently in Boruto. People really want Naruto and Sasuke to be like Goku and Vegeta just keeping getting out the ass stronger and never really losing and having no consequences all the while not remembering where they actually scale in power. Like do people forget how powerful Kaguya was??? Naruto and Sasuke are only 2 halves of Haguromo and he didnt even match kaguya on his own, During the battle with Kaguya they needed the help of Hogoromo, Sakura, Obito, Kakashi, plus themselves. And all they could really do was not even really kill her but seal her, they nearly died just trying to touch her shoulders, think about that. And now we are dealing with entities who are even stronger than kaguya and her 2 sons. Naruto and Sasuke arent getting weaker or being nerfed... Its just that opposing characters are now stronger than ever. Legit who TF expects them to take down someone who is stronger than basically what is the creator of the verse itself???
I think his background as a notable and respected member of the debate communuty really bolsters his ability to stand at a more neutral point of view where others get caught up in their emotions.
one thing we have to mention is that the anime version of boruto really added alot of depth to the kara. The anime has done nothing but elevate the manga recently.
The thing is, Naruto is one of my favorite animes, together with fmab. What I love about it is the way of portraying human feelings, emotions, love, hate, death, the concept of peace, suffering, pain, loneliness, war and unjustice. It thought a lot of life lessons, it felt real and genuine, some scenes sent shivers down my spine. Do we have to talk about the characters and villains? Pain, Madara, Zabuza, Jiraiya, Kakashi, Naruto, the selfless and kind Hinata, I can go on forever... Incredibly well written. Here in Boruto, the plot is engaging and the battles are incredible but I feel like it's missing something, the magic atmosphere you can feel while watching Naruto episodes is missing along with the deep emotions that were created back then. This is only my opinion but I felt like sharing it.
I 100% agree! And even when Seth was pointing out those feelings in the manga such as loneliness I still felt as if the writing could have better betrayed that. It took 1 swing in Naruto to help us understand. 1. But in boruto it has been harder to read between those lines. It’s just not as vulnerable of a story, and when it is the pacing is so bad that you end up glossing over it.
But he was supervisor of the manga throughout. The biggest turning point development wise I've heard about is a change in show runners. Manga has been praised since way before that but most who gave it a chance.
@@kanekikingstorm2113 yeah i know they liked the tone it was developing and the pace which most fans agreed was really good it wasn’t rushed or drawn out kishimoto feels like he’s doing a weekly manga at a monthly pace
i just don’t find the character progression to be organic, it just feels like they nerf the old gen to make the new gen shine like Naruto and Sasuke especially, they don’t use their full arsenal in order to let Boruto and the rest shine more which feels so cheap. Naruto’s nerf was justifiable as he sacrificed Kurama for his Baryon mode but Sasuke, who never lets his guard down, to let his guard down in such a big fight feels EXTREMELY CHEAP. Not to mention Sasuke not using King of Hell (Rinnegan ability) to make Amado tell the truth or his Sharingan to see his memories. At least in OG Naruto, they had logistics (non-uchiha having sharingan) for Kakashi to be weakened to let Naruto and Sasuke shine a bit more, now its just “Sasuke has no chakra” and “Naruto is rusty” most of the new characters have basically the same personality and abilities as their parents which is so boring. and the animation is horrible imo, they care more about how the graphics look than about the actual animation of the fights, the Time-Travel Arc is one of the worst arcs i’ve ever seen in my life for that exact reason (and also for kid Naruto being more useful than Sasuke)
I think they chose wisely to have the characters lead this sequel instead of Naruto and old cast. Since Naruto and old cast already got to development, it would be a shame to degrade their characters by having them learn the same lesson since Naruto learned it in HIS story.
I agree that Boruto doesn't feel organic at all you are right. Then again, the introduction of the Otsutsukis didn't feel organic at all in Shippuden. Boruto is just an excuse to fill up that plot hole and give light on the Otsutsukis and their origins. Personally I find the Otsutsukis interesting thx to Boruto. And they retcon Black Zetsu as a sudo karma. It's really impressive how they use the worst parts of Naruto and make them better and fill up the plot holes in the war arc. Boruto is a blessing in disguise for that arc.
Also, the powerscaling got DBZed in the war arc. Naruto and Sasuke are so strong that the writers have a hard time to write and make them believable. It's like DBZ/S, they have to introduce a stronger villain than the previous one to make the fights have stakes. I think they did a better job than DB since the powerscaling is planetary...for now. Also they explain that pure Otsutsukis are stronger than humans, and Offsprings and descendants with Otsutsuki DNA like Naruto and Sasuke are weaker. It takes both Sasuke and Naruto with their allies to beat one.
I read quite a bit of Boruto, it's just not for me, i think i'll just be content with Naruto becoming Hokage and that future remaining unclear. If you like it, great, awesome for you.
Same. It feels that he really earned his peace. He was struggling since he was born, just to make all his effort and time into finally achieving something be screwed in favor of a character that isn’t as relatable, endearing and liked like his son, and just for cheap character development.
Great video best part "its more of a wizard show where they act like ninja" very true I mean the main protagonist wore one of the brightest colors a ninja could wear and was hella loud.
Thank you this was a great video with valid criticisms. Also, good call on momoshiki and naruto representing the two sides of boruto, it still applies now considering his current situation in the manga
I still have an issue with almost every villain being an Otsutski alien and still agree with many of the points made in the video with Clyde and Swag. When all of part 1 and 2 except for the very end of Shippuden dealt with other ninja and politics of other nations, then you just have aliens show up, it just feels extremely weird in regards to tone. Also, I find many of the character designs to be unappealing and the overall designs and art style in general, as well as the quality of the art all inferior to Naruto part 1 and 2. Then the issue of the main characters, I don’t find Boruto, Sarada, Mitsuki. Etc as compelling as Naruto, Sasuke and Kakashi, not really even close. Not saying they’re terrible, but it feels like night and day difference in quality.
literally chapter 1 of Naruto introduces aspects of aliens Naruto has a being created due to alien placed inside of him while every other character uses chakra tought by Hagaromo which is derived from a alien, Sasuke's rinnegan and sharingan is from aliens so is Hinata's Byakugan which is the main form of Dojustsu used by the Otsutsuki clan. in this Era Naruto created peace amongst the villages through power but the alien threat still remains someone has to put a end to them to create true peace the peace Jiraiya dreamt of and only the ones with power that threaten the shinobi world can stop that same power from destroying the world we love.
You really hit the nail in the coffin with this video. You actually understand Boruto's themes and objectively look at it's narrative. Boruto is great, especially when it comes to the manga. You also struck me very well with the problems you have on the series, I completely agree with all of them and honestly I like how you glossed over the "non-problems" that people complain about just because like - Hurr durr alienz doe, like Naruto wasn't a walking glowstick in the original and Shippuuden. Kawaki is one of the best characters in the entire series and seeing his downfall will be something unimaginable but also quite well foreshadowed. Art-wise I think Ikemoto is getting better, but I agree completely that his art just doesn't really.... pop out like Naruto did. What I have to give over to Ikemoto is his character design, in my opinion the characters are way better than what Kishimoto would come up with, and we see this quite clearly with the difference between movie Momoshiki and the manga one. The series has ways to go but I trust that the writers know what they are doing, at least when it comes to the manga. Heck even the color-theme (black and white) just fits the manga so well as it's just griddy and dark, even more so than the original Naruto series.
I would like to point out for the isshiki fight that Naruto did have to be very precise and not use too much chakra or the mode would have ran out sooner, hence why he only used a single rasengan and mainly used taijutsu.
Nice, maybe not having someone to explain the fights like it used to be like in the past is also taking a toll on boruto. I mean zetsu explained the entire sasuke and itachi fight. I think most of us would have never understood the fight.
@@mukonank783 That’s a really good point, I mean kurama says very little about the mode and I had no clue what Isshikis Eye did until recently, then again i’ve just been skipping around the anime so maybe that’s why but either way some explanation would be nice yeah :)
YAAAAAYYYYY SETH THE PROGRAMMER THE GOATED DADDY HIMSELF HAS FINALLY MADE A VIDEO ABOUT BORUTO TALKING ABOUT HIS HONEST THOUGHTS ABOUT THE ENTIRETY OF THE SERIES!!!!!!!!
Great video. Appreciate someone sticking up for Boruto. I thought it has been pretty good so far. Kawaki has been the character that has really kept my interest though. I am glad they showed Boruto and him facing off in the very first scene to give us a reason to be patient.
My interpretation of the nerf is that the existence of boruto should change nothing of the fights that Naruto fights yet he seems to always have a key input
@@Blackmagic_874 in the anime they started at the academy and introduce all the characters..they also included the sarada arc (Naruto gaiden)...in the manga it goes straight to the chunin exams with all of other characters just in there..Well side characters on the manga are pretty much nonexistent. Haha
@@Blackmagic_874 not manga content doesn’t mean filler . The nue arc wasn’t filler, the blood mist arc wasn’t filler , the shin arc wasn’t filler, mitsukis background story wasn’t filler , there was some bad stuff but ultimately the chunin exams followed and that’s all before episode 65 so “100 episodes later” is in fact an exaggeration
Now stuff like cho cho episodes I understand but that’s what brings me to the point of filler not being a new thing to the franchise. The time travel arc while the power scaling was weird, definitely still hit all the feels with the old gen characters . There’s some fluff in between that and the mugina bandits arc but after that the kara actuation arc starts and it’s been consistent ever since that arc ppl over exaggerate a lot but I do understand SOME of the frustrations Bc I was a Boruto hater for a quick second myself but I got over it Bc I knew the filler wouldn’t last forever as it never does
I think they could have expanded on the breaking of old problems. Like all of the Uchia genocide and Sharingan been the Pain-equal-power duality incarnate (literally). in Shippuden, they went full on this cycle theme. Hate, generations, Victory. It was different from rising above yourself like Naruto did in the beginning, but then Naruto tried to rise above the cycle left by his mentors. The Boruto show (not solely Boruto himself) should try to truly keep and abolish the possibility of the cycle returning. This could be Sarada as the Sharingan Love-Pain-Power cycle carrier and admirer of Narutos achievement of stopping the wheel. At first I also did not really liked the cycle theme and really hated the alien thing. But now I like the cycle breaking theme and still dislike aliens.
I actually like the alien theme since all of fav characters got their powers from aliens and now the two main protaganist have powers of aliens like Hagaromo and Hamura and are against each other bringing back the very start of it all and potentially coming to a end once and for all., Boruto becoming the new age Hagaromo and instead of spreading teachings he's dealing with the problems upfront which is the aliens themselves so he's indulging in his powers for the sake of mankind even though he hates being a burden like part 1 Naruto but also training and using his given power to better the shinobi world. I like to think Boruto will be the child of propechy that Jirayia dreamed of and the one with the power and will to defeat the beings that brought chakra and jutsu to the Naruto world that created the many conflicts we see in Naruto's universe even having a Otsutsutki directly help Boruto b giving him a god level dojustsu to save the shinobi world since toneri was done wrong by his own clan due to greed by power.
the power issue at 36:40 is really just that absorbing problem. they new jutsu were just a way of feeding Ishiki and had to go physical. Which meant the only uses of chackra they could apply had to be either extremely subtle and well timed, and hidden, OR they had to use it to augment their physical abilities but without letting it be absorbed. And Bayron mode's limit was that ALL unnecessary movements or use of chakra would lead to ending the technique early and losing his power prematurely. So He was forced to use very subtle Taijutsu to stay in range and keep clapping ishiki's cheeks while reducing ishiki's vessel's time limit. Any crazy show of power of force would have been wasted energy that would have led to Bayron mode ending too soon, and that whole fight would have ended differently.
My issue with Boruto is that Naruto and Sasuke are the best characters. When the most entertaining characters of the series are the ones that already had their own series, it's pretty telling. They just need to find a way to make Boruto and the characters it's actually about compelling
Naruto and Sasuke don’t really appear that much, honestly the new team 7 and Kawaki are very interesting and if you don’t see that then the series just isn’t for you.
Naruto is a trash character, his narrative was completely destroyed in the original series. His story was about overcoming difficult circumstances, it ended up by him being the reincarnation of the son of Jesus.
I disagree with Naruto. This is the guy that bathed then entire shinobi alliance in the 9 tails cloak but can't produce a shadow clone to handle Paperwork no Jutsu. Big fan of Sarada as she has had it rough. An absolute Stalker for a mom and a dad who went for smokes and came back 12 years later. Despite that she has character and drive and isn't just handed power (as of episode 150 at least). Also love Hima who should probably be the main character
Kawaki is a better character than Naruto. Not saying kawaki is the best character in the Naruto franchise but I'm making it clear Kawaki as a character is far superior than Naruto. Kawaki is top 6 when it comes to the franchise. 6. Kawaki 5. Sasuke 4. Obito 3. Pain 2. Itachi 1. Madara
@@s.a9764 hmmm this could mean she potentially can lessen or maybe even solve the mangekyo sharingan blinding effect (when she still hasnt achieved eternal yet)
I've been a Boruto fan since the series came out and this video and its criticisms are perfectly put. Whilst I do enjoy Boruto and Kawaki's character progressions, the other main characters like Sarada isn't getting any meaningful development which proves Kodachi's lack in ability of writing prowess compared to Kishimoto, and even he had his faults. Furthermore, it's a monthly manga but it still makes no sense to me that Ikemoto can't produce a better art style or panelling than those from the weekly manga series. Those two main factors are where I think the series fall short compared to its predecessor.
One thing people need to understand is that the reason why certain techniques were easier to boruto than Naruto as his age is because naturally uzumakis are gifted for having an immense amount of chakra (kushina stated that in her back story) and Naruto had to suppress the power of kurama which made things harder for him and that’s the whole reason why Naruto is better known for being even stronger than any other shinobi
Yeah no, the Uzumakis prior to Naruto were still nowhere near God-like in power. They were powerful, but if all their members were kage level it makes no sense that the clan would be wiped out. This is all the result fo terrible writing, plain and simple.
He also has the benefit of learning taijutsu from the Hyuga, Boruto uses the gentle fist form whenever he fights in taijutsu despite not having the byakugan. He is also a prodigy like his grandfather, Minato, so there is some nature and nurture involved in Boruto's talent.
@@quojo5757 We already know that God-like ninjas can basically wipe out nations by themselves, so it is still a tall order to claim the Uzumakis (a whole clan of them at that) were at that level. Minato who wasn't considered God-like could single handedly wipe out an army. Heck he could take Des Ex Machine incarnate, Obito all by himself.
The critique that Naruto should've trained Boruto or teach him his ideals is so nonsensical He's in NINJA SCHOOL for a reason he has a sense it for a reason, he can come to his own conclusions too He def didn't earn training with the Hokage or use his father as a short cut
I mean, Boruto clearly did learn from Naruto. He could perform the Shadow Clone jutsu, Wind AND Lightning Style by the time he even joined the Academy. Also, real bold of you to say that Boruto has to EARN time with his father, considering that this mindset is exactly what caused him to cheat in the Chunin Exams--thinking he had to be worthy just to get his attention. And let's not forget that Naruto's OWN father left him with the greatest shortcut of all: the freaking NINE-TAILS.
@@kenstorm707 No, Boruto did not train with Naruto at all. Boruto is asked in the Graduation Exams by Kakashi if Naruto taught him Shadow Clones and Boruto denies. We see Boruto attempting to perform Wind Style after seeing Mitsuki use it and eventually does successfully learn how to in the same arc, and Lightning is another affinity he just has because I'm pretty sure its his main one.
@@Xxphilipp7988xX And Killua didn't earned to be born one in a million talent or get a plot device in his house which can fix anything by making a wish OR get trained by multiple legendary teachers from his OWN HOUSE and throughout his journey.
I haven't read the manga, I think whenever Naruto is forced to fight small is good. One thing I hated about the end of Shippuden was that Naruto and Sasuke ended up having these ridiculously big powers. Now whenever he fights, readers will be left wondering why Naruto doesn't go all out the second he senses danger. Tension generally goes away when the main characters are so OP.
Naruto's 6 path powers were nerfed as soon as he got them, he should be able to do that eye regeneration and reverse 8 gates stuff but didn't for some reason when it was useful.
Exactly, in my opinion the official nerf to both of them were necessary to increase the overall stakes and to stop op villain's like isshiki come again.
This video couldn't be any better! This is exactly what I've been thinking! And I 100% agree with making the battles bigger scale. My biggest issue is that gaara vs rock Lee seems more impressive than MOST fights in naruto and they were just Genin! Get Tite Kubo to draw some fights or something lol

Pinned worthy comment
You guys are so cute
Clyde where the smash or pass video I try to watch but I can't find the video?
Well it’s not a new story remember it’s part 3 of naruto so it wouldn’t really make sense

Lazy, lazy
It's like they are admitting boruto cannot survive on its own which tbh I don't think it will atleast for a while
They had to continue the strory of the otsutski and wat yu want boruto to do fight other shinobi for the first part even they are in peace

@@mlh1367 I haven't seen a single Boruto Fan thats not a vegetable
actually naruto's characterization makes sense.
Even Iruka sensei had time to shine in a some filler arcs.
Konohomaru still hasn't gone through Sage Nature Chakra training... trash
I hate the pacing as well

Honestly, my issue in the beginning would be with the anime's slow burn, which probably turned a lot of people off from the show. Seeing Boruto be insufferable for over a year of weekly episodes was nowhere near as bad as the 8-10 monthly manga chapters. The side character stuff was nice, but having a main character like that was a bad experience. Once the anime started adapting the manga chapters, was a great improvement. I don't blame them since the manga is monthly while the anime has to keep dropping episodes every week
Honestly they should've taken a 1 year gap after shipudden instead of immediately starting boruto

I think the anime starting off so colorful and happy is actually to it’s benefit in the long run. Boruto is destined to lose everything, it’s stated multiple times and shown in the opening scene vs Kawaki.

He has the perfect life BECAUSE OF NARUTO.
If you're mad about Boruto having a good life then blame Naruto.
Naruto created world peace.
His neglect of Boruto is why Boruto ends up doing reckless shit (which is what Naruto used to do)
This story being the way it is IS BECAUSE OF NARUTO.

I think one of the absolute BIGGEST issues with Boruto is something that isn't talked nearly enough about.
(We are directly seeing the gap in skill between Kodachi and Kishimoto as writers in the Manga right now with several characters having way more depth and psychology added and actually allowing it to breathe)
Also PS, Ikemoto the artist for Boruto has barely any assistants helping him, so his art being bad or mediocre in Boruto is completely understandable lol
@@foodist5408 Your comment has nothing to do with this but here we go. Saitama is not a gag character and his best feat is planet level.

With the track record Kishimoto has with female character, I'm betting she'll end up as a damsel in distress and ultimately become a housewife.
My main problems with Boruto are that:
1.Naruto and Sasuke are being somewhat bad fathers.
Not only it increase his speed, strength, chakra and many thing else, it alsho shows that he finally threw his guilty aside and protect the village at all cost
4.Naruto's generation absolutely got disrespected, not just in the Isshiki fight where they just tackle in with no abilities or tatics, their designs are basically so digusting.
7.Side characters get no screen time just like you said in the vid
8.Isshiki's built as smart or sth, but apparently not as smart as a random human like Madara.
Actually, almost everything in boruto is just terrible

Nothing really wrong with it. everything is actually pretty in line.

@@Prinzherbert I hear your point. What’s done is done and I hope Boruto can continue to improve with Kishimoto back onboard.
@@jevonhilton2236 I do apply the same logic. It was lazy writing back then too. Old lazy writing shouldn’t be used to justify new lazy writing.

I feel like the fact that it has to rely on the anime to actually be a good series it what kinda makes it weak compared to others but I get you
I'm not watching the anime to fill in holes, I'm just completely ignoring the manga. Not sure what you're getting at.

I get it, I really do and appreciate all the extensive research that went into this. Boruto still sucks ass though :(
one thing we have to mention is that the anime version of boruto really added alot of depth to the kara. The anime has done nothing but elevate the manga recently.
Yeah
And introducing much more plot armours
Watch boruto vs ao he literally used talk no jutsu
I 100% agree! And even when Seth was pointing out those feelings in the manga such as loneliness I still felt as if the writing could have better betrayed that. It took 1 swing in Naruto to help us understand. 1. But in boruto it has been harder to read between those lines. It’s just not as vulnerable of a story, and when it is the pacing is so bad that you end up glossing over it.
Simple reason: it wasn't written by Kishimoto at the beginning
It wasn't for any of the content he covered here. Kishimoto came back pretty much right after where this video leaves at.
But he was supervisor of the manga throughout. The biggest turning point development wise I've heard about is a change in show runners. Manga has been praised since way before that but most who gave it a chance.
what do you mean most of the complaints of the manga started after kishimoto took over and the plot lost a lot of the build up it was getting
@@femto7579 alot of fans in Japan actually prefered kishimoto's successor as he was writing the arc up to where he left
At least in OG Naruto, they had logistics (non-uchiha having sharingan) for Kakashi to be weakened to let Naruto and Sasuke shine a bit more, now its just “Sasuke has no chakra” and “Naruto is rusty”
most of the new characters have basically the same personality and abilities as their parents which is so boring.
and the animation is horrible imo, they care more about how the graphics look than about the actual animation of the fights, the Time-Travel Arc is one of the worst arcs i’ve ever seen in my life for that exact reason (and also for kid Naruto being more useful than Sasuke)
The animation is really fluid. And when they get huge budgets, the fight scenes look beautiful.
I think they chose wisely to have the characters lead this sequel instead of Naruto and old cast. Since Naruto and old cast already got to development, it would be a shame to degrade their characters by having them learn the same lesson since Naruto learned it in HIS story.
The new casts are getting built up and getting development in mini arcs as well as the eventful arcs where the Old casts are heavily involved in.
Same here dude, not everything needs a sequel
Same. It feels that he really earned his peace. He was struggling since he was born, just to make all his effort and time into finally achieving something be screwed in favor of a character that isn’t as relatable, endearing and liked like his son, and just for cheap character development.
Same here, after reading some manga chapters I just stopped. Didn’t feel like a Naruto sequel, they should’ve just made a different series.
for me im watching the show to see Boruto and the new gen's story. Not Naruto's story again so yeah

Not saying they’re terrible, but it feels like night and day difference in quality.
agreed
i see u left out sakura there lol.
On Shipudden we have Shinobi vs Shinobi and that's over. Now we have Shinobi/Cyborgs vs Otsutsuki/Cyborgs
Mitsuki is my favourite character but ukyou kodachi ruined it
literally chapter 1 of Naruto introduces aspects of aliens Naruto has a being created due to alien placed inside of him while every other character uses chakra tought by Hagaromo which is derived from a alien, Sasuke's rinnegan and sharingan is from aliens so is Hinata's Byakugan which is the main form of Dojustsu used by the Otsutsuki clan. in this Era Naruto created peace amongst the villages through power but the alien threat still remains someone has to put a end to them to create true peace the peace Jiraiya dreamt of and only the ones with power that threaten the shinobi world can stop that same power from destroying the world we love.
@@mukonank783 That’s a really good point, I mean kurama says very little about the mode and I had no clue what Isshikis Eye did until recently, then again i’ve just been skipping around the anime so maybe that’s why but either way some explanation would be nice yeah :)

aye hope you're doing well Seth, always happy to see your uploads
My interpretation of the nerf is that the existence of boruto should change nothing of the fights that Naruto fights yet he seems to always have a key input
The complaint that gets me most is how ppl complain about filler like that’s a new thing to the Naruto franchise
Hahaha yeah
The problem is that Boruto straight up started with filler. It took them near 100 episodes before they got to manga content which is absurd.
There’s some fluff in between that and the mugina bandits arc but after that the kara actuation arc starts and it’s been consistent ever since that arc ppl over exaggerate a lot but I do understand SOME of the frustrations Bc I was a Boruto hater for a quick second myself but I got over it Bc I knew the filler wouldn’t last forever as it never does
So. The time has come. Well done. I must admit.
Yep indeed Boruto as a series is so much better than what people give it credit for......
I think the uchiha tings are saved for sarada for timeskip..she may have somany struggle to become hokage for who her family his
the power issue at 36:40 is really just that absorbing problem. they new jutsu were just a way of feeding Ishiki and had to go physical.

Also, unlike Naruto, Boruto has actual living frames of reference for abilities and powers instead of having to learn from square one or from scratch
@@kool2btrue The clan were bullied by 3 great ninja nations not just one bro
@@quojo5757 We already know that God-like ninjas can basically wipe out nations by themselves, so it is still a tall order to claim the Uzumakis (a whole clan of them at that) were at that level. The critique that Naruto should've trained Boruto or teach him his ideals is so nonsensical
He's in NINJA SCHOOL for a reason he has a sense it for a reason, he can come to his own conclusions too
He def didn't earn training with the Hokage or use his father as a short cut
I mean, Boruto clearly did learn from Naruto. He could perform the Shadow Clone jutsu, Wind AND Lightning Style by the time he even joined the Academy.
Also, real bold of you to say that Boruto has to EARN time with his father, considering that this mindset is exactly what caused him to cheat in the Chunin Exams--thinking he had to be worthy just to get his attention.

One thing I hated about the end of Shippuden was that Naruto and Sasuke ended up having these ridiculously big powers. Now whenever he fights, readers will be left wondering why Naruto doesn't go all out the second he senses danger. Tension generally goes away when the main characters are so OP.
