Just to clarify the Post Crisis Superman that Shazam scales to in this video is of course only the suppressed Superman we usually see and not his full power that he only learned to use later on.

I think Superman once fight Shazam when he was controlled by Eclipso and he was trying to kill Shazam and I think he didn´t hold back.

If he was written correctly, he'd be practically unbeatable. I hate how they nerf him in DC comics. He has the wisdom of Solomon. He could use that power to outwit his enemies and use it to solve mysteries like a detective. His abilities could be used in such versatile ways. He doesn't have to be a Superman clone. He could be so much more. That's why Golden Age Captain Marvel is my favorite version of the character. In Fawcett comics, Cap could be as strong and as powerful without having to weaken him to make Superman look better. Dc will never let Captain Marvel come into his full potential as long as he shares the stage with Superman.
Absolutely glad I'm not the only one and I prefer Shazam over Superman and is more powerful then Superman just dc holds him back with the power of Zeus spell casting would and should be part of his arsenal

I think what Dc needs to do is @@fucktiktok631 i think DC should embrace the elseworlds set up, They can make original stories and takes of the characters while not labeling it as a cinematic universe. They can experiment on it a lot and take different themes. technically Joker and the batman didn't feel like superhero movies it just felt like the classic movies from the 70s where its focused on story rather than theatrics. I feel like DC is not playing their cards with this kinds of idea. They can make Movies with super hero characters and make it into character driven movies with different genres like noir, surrealism or even horror. I think DC should focus on making original stories instead of a cinematic universe. I would like to see a Martian manhunter with noir elements and take inspiration from the invasion of the body snatchers, the sign and even the thing into one movie. Alot of these movies would be experimental and low budget compared to the block buster and the good thing about this is that if it flops it wont be a big damage monetary wise for WB and they don't have to worry about making a sequel or a series unlike if a movie from a cinematic universe sucked it basically impacts everything. My point, DC needs to embrace original ideas and stray from comic book adaptations especially if they cant make a plan. The focus should be noir type or even pulp like. Tbh i DESPISE CINEMATIC UNIVERSES, i do like things to connect but not everything needs to nor do you need a cinematic universe for everything to connect.

In early new 52 when Shazam was corrupted by Pandora's box it was felt by every magic user, I think throughout the multiverse too cause I think there's a panel where we see Dr Fate from earth 2 feel it, though I could be wrong.
New 52 Superman fought Rao and would've won if it wasn't for Rao's trickery , same Rao who scared off the Olympian Gods by waking and they litterally abandoned their roles too leaving all the prayer to WW .

I love post crisis Captain Marvel Billy baston and his marvel family because all three of them Billy baston Mary marvel and Freddy Freeman Captain Marvel Jr are great characters and tons of fun.
The Power of Shazam comicline was definitely my favourite Shazam thing ever.
@@WebCamParrot indeed same here heck one of my all time favorite series was Shazam the monster society of evil miniseries by Jeff smith which was a great retelling of his origin story but tons of fun and cute and gave me a great origin of both Billy baston and Mary marvel as brother and sister which was really cute and adorable and awesome :).

Captain Marvel (Billy Batson) is a great character IMO. Marvel, like Superman, has the mentality and characteristics of a true hero. He is among the most powerful superheroes of all time. TBH, while I know a lot of people consider Superman to be the most powerful superhero, I say that Billy is just as powerful as Superman.

Just thought I’d mention that in that comic where he fought the alien who absorbed the powers of the League, the alien actually didn’t. In the comic story, the smaller alien, Psi-phon, was said to actually be using his knowledge of brains and powers to make the heroes of Earth forget how to use their power, thus weakening them. And as a result, they believed the big alien was stealing their powers. It revealed at the end though that it was a manipulation and just a plot from a greater invading force test how Earth could respond in a true invasion. In addition, the aliens were merely mental projections from the greater invading force and they disappeared after the revelation. However, the rest of this video was great and informative. This is just a common mistake I’ve seen from people.

In the end countless heroes and villains have crazy lines of scaling partly scaling massively above each other, but are still roughly comparable when trading blows.
While you can accuse shonen of similar things, I think they are generally better about this due to not having such insane and convoluted verses and countless writers.
Thank you for this! I've recently started a series comparing superheroes with animals who have real-life superheroes, and I am thinking of doing a Shazam/Captain Marvel/Billy Batson after watching this! I didn't know he could turn into any form he envisions, that is cool!
It's definitely a very underrated part of his powers. Wish he used it more often.
@@WebCamParrot Me too! Why do you think that was? Is there any specific power that's your favorite of his?
It just wasn't often that useful. He would use it for disguises or to make a spacesuit or something but that was about it. It's difficult because Billy has to change his perspective on what a superhero should be in order to turn into that thing. It might be hard for him to convince himself that certain transformations fit within what it means to be a "superhero".
I think the Wisdom of Solomon is his most interesting power.
And yet DC STILL disrrspects this guy
Another great video my friend! Shazam aka Captain Marvel is one of the few characters who can time travel and alter time in such a manner that it will not harm the timeline of said space - time. If I remember currently, he did this feat in Multiversity; due to the Wisdom of Solomon, going back in time an aiding himself on how to defeat his foe. WebCamParrot?!? Billy batson magic use is vast though. When you have super man likes strength and imbued with magic, you're a force of nature. Juggernaut will have a word with you Shazam.
Shazam, just as strong as Superman, but always jobbing and playing second fiddle.
Batman is the face of DC, Superman is symbol of HOPE.
But again comic logic when aliens can beat gods which gets weird pretty

My answer for why he doesn't have the feats of a lot of characters out there, DC kind of hates him. It's why in alternate versions he ends up being a villain or dies. They use him because he's popular and works well in the kid books. But DC is really petty that at one point Shazam was more popular than Superman. And any character that they haven't created is a character they will only use to be the guy that shows how strong something else is or how evil something is. Injustice, King Shazam, Justice League Unlimited, Young Justice, etc. He's like Captain Atom

Even though I talked about him 3 years ago, but, I figured why the hell not. IMO, I find the concept and idea of Billy Batson/Captain Marvel is a fascinating and excellent one. I mean, for a character that possesses a level of power comparable to that of Superman and other godlike heroes and villains that has the mind and perspective of a kid sounds awesome to me. Anyways, I do agree with those that hate the fact that DC tends to nerf him in certain stories and certain DC related projects. For example, in the really solid DC Animated Movie Universe, Captain Marvel/"Shazam" was nerfed immensely especially in the Justice League: War animated film. I mean, in that movie, the JL's lineup consisted of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), Flash (Barry Allen), Cyborg, and Billy Batson/Captain Marvel. You would think that this lineup would pose more than a challenge for Darkseid right. Well guess what, despite Billy having the strength of Hercules, the power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles, and the speed of Mercury, Darkseid manages to throw him around like a friggin' rag doll. As I am seeing that, I am like, "WTF is this garbage?!". I know the fact that Darkseid isn't supposed to be overlooked nor underestimated because of the truth that he is among the most powerful beings in the entire DC Multiverse. However, so is Captain Marvel/"Shazam". I mean, if major powerhouses like Superman, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, Supergirl, and Orion can take him on "mano y mano", then so can Captain Marvel/"Shazam". Throughout the course of Billy's illustrious 80+ years in comics, he has always been compared to Superman, not only in character, but also, in power as I mentioned earlier. There have been plenty of instances of Captain Marvel/"Shazam" has not only gotten the upper hand on the Man of Steel, but has defeated him as well. As a matter of fact, wasn't there a time where he knocked out Superman by powering his fists with Zeus' lightning and using the speed of Mercury. Afterwards, Billy went on to be modest by saying that he is lucky that Superman is vulnerable to magic, but still, he put Superman to freaking sleep with a simple two piece combo (granted his fists were powered by Zeus' lightning but still).
There was a time were many magicians, god and demon gave their power to Shazam so that he could fight the Specter, and so he did, he was a match.

i never understood how black adam is his equivalent. since he draws his powers the the egyptian pantheon who are gods not made naturally by the godwave but the collective human unconscious/the dreaming. since the are not believed in as much anymore the are dying/fading to dust/back to the dream. so wouldn't black adam be weaker?
Yeah it was never really explained I just always figured that Black Adam was willing to use his full power all the time regardless but Captain Marvel actually holds back against literally everyone because he doesn't want to kill them. Despite this Captain Marvel tends to just win every-time anyway so.
In the most recent comics, Catwoman acquired these abilities in addition to her nine lives. So is it posible that she is the new Storm of The DC Universe?

Billy Batson would be more compelling IF he had to EARN each God's power by doing different "worthy' task...
There was a "Trials of Shazam" miniseries that was sort of like that but it focused on Freddy not Billy and it sucked. I think that having trials would undermine one of the most interesting parts of his character. Billy is interesting because he's a kid out of his depth having to suddenly deal with these new powers and the responsibilities and opportunities it gives him. Having trials to like prepare him for these powers would just be a very different story.

Geoff Johns has confirmed in his Shazam! run that the Pre-Flashpoint/Post-Crisis Shazam Family still very much exists (they're just dead).
So no King Shazam cannot scale to Post-Crisis/Pre-Flashpoint Shazam.

Ares was pretty weak during the time where billy beat him down. This can be inferred when Ares was claiming that he changed and considering he’s fuelled by war, him literally disregarding violence probably means he was at his lowest especially since he got knocked out by Shazam’s lightning. Which doesn’t make sense because Ares is in contention with Zeus many times and was never easily beaten
That just says to me that Shazam got a lot stronger but it is also possible that Ares was weakened. We don't actually know if he was weakened though so I went with the side that has a lot more evidence going for it. Like the New Gods/Skylords don't tend to get weaker just because they stop following their mantra.
