- Steve Gadd´s solo with Legends at Jazz Vitoria Gasteiz 1997.
Legends-Eric Clapton, Steve Gadd, Joe Sample, Marcus Miller, David Sanborn...
This is a nice solo, cool timing...
Un crack y el concierto fue buenísimo.😊😊😊
I've probably heard these fills a million times in Gadd's other solos, but damn, for some reason he could pull it off everytime!
I HAD to buy the video---Gadd is king, the groovemaster---I don't care what style you play---I've been teaching and playing over 45 years,We can ALL learn something from Steve Gadd.
Totally
Love Steve Gadd
Always good to see Joe sample
He's also one of the nicest guys on the planet. Interviewed him for a local magazine here in his hometown of Rochester, NY a few years back.
Fantastic - the drum speaks, not shocking the drums!
Gadd does it like it's nothing. It's almost like he's thinking "Hmm, okay, my drum solo... let's switch grips... a little of this, a little of that...." And everybody else can only watch and wonder how the hell he does it. Every sound matters with Gadd's solos, yet he never ever loses the groove.
And THAT is part of what makes The Gaddmyster, the master that he is. His solos still have the music playing in his head, because he never looses the feel of the song, when he solos!
you are my idol!!! whew!!!!
@ralfodrum great words. Steve Gadd is the man of drumming. He started to use double pedal late, maybe in 1992...but I like his double pedal work with licks, pocket playing...Gadd is God :D
That's why he's playing with the other god Eric Clapton
@TheChiFlows Yes, you are right, he uses double bass pedal into the solo. He´s moving left leg at 1:35
Yeah He's truly the Master. Colaiuta, Weckl all those gay are just the wonderful evolution of HIS playing....
The One and Only MR. STEVE GADD !!!!!
My second private drum tutor taught me stuff from Steve Gadd 19 years ago. Steve Gadd is an underrated drummer
I wouldn't call him underrated. But he can never be overrated.
Wow..
@smoukondeuoter Sorry, but he is using double pedal from 1:35 to the end solo...Those licks (ratamaque and triplets) in this solo he played unisono on double bass pedal. It´s Gaddism.
@lexbrekelmans Yes I look two beaters, please look at this better and listen sound of bass drum on the end. From 1:38 and triplets he played unisono with beaters. You can see it good on Steve Gadd Master series, where he played drum solo on 3/2 clave
@Thissbetterwork - me too !!!
Is there any footage of Mr. Gadd ever messing up while trying to play those incredible rhythmic figures against what the other cats are playing? It just seems like there is no "messing up" when it comes to Gadd.
In Gadd, We Trust 🤓🥁👍🏼
I can't imagine anything like that ever being posted. Just like every other post. facebook, instagram, Twitter, no one is going to post any bad/negative photos of themselves. ALL of their followers are there because of the posters PERFECT LIFE, that no one else is having!!!!!!! Much like the lady's in the fashion rags. EVERY PHOTO is airbrushed to perfection. Minus inches and weight removed!!!!!
Yes, there are some
Try his drum solo on "spain" by al jarreau, in montreux 1993, or on "toledo" by pino daniele in 2011
@MMMuller well you can see that his grip was well, but the shoulder problem, so not comfortable I think...
@MMMuller no, it wasn't gripped wrong, it's because he set up his snare too low.
@machine00head yeah...
It really is nice to see some actual talent, rather than all the heavy metal crap like Kiss and Metallica. What a brilliant line up of some of the best and my personal favourite musicians! Keep grooving hard guys! :D
Those bands are talented too...they just didn't develop the talent the same way...Like I usually say...Absolute truths are stupid. It's about songwriting and not instrumental quality or versatility. Different vibes.
Oh By the way, I'm a huge fan of both Metallica and Gadd, with Chick Corea, Petrucciani, etc...cheers.
@ralfodrum sorry, you are not right. Listen bass drum sound at the end and look better.
@Axberry look at that pedal, you see two beaters??
I stand corrected---Gadd doesn't need a double pedal,BUT,according to my sources that are close,he wants to show he can be contemporary---He doesn't need to prove anything, because he invented contemporary drumming as we know it----Play in time, play the groove, play for the song. The essence of drumming
i'm agree with you toword the Gadd
ALL YOU GUYS___GADD IS MOVING HIS LEFT FOOT TO OPEN THE HI-HAT__NO DOUBLE PEDAL ON THIS SOLO
what song is this?
and you can look his double bass drum work on this, same concert : watch?v=6DNyrLyYzQA
watch?v=6DNyrLyYzQA
OMG, look at this, same concert, any double pedal at 3:55??? :D
Like see George Clooney
well i think he never broke any of his cymbals
better you learn to listen the bass drum.
Too bad the audio isn’t that good.
bit weird isn't it, all sort of phasey
I hate his snare drum sound.
