Teacher Debate: Worst School Supplies for Back to School

- Today is a special video recording of my Time-Crunched Teacher PODCAST. And to commemorate the occasion, I came up with a ridiculous game called "Battle of the Brackets." We pick a topic (like worst school supplies) and create a set of playoff brackets where we argue each item head to head until we've declared a winner for: The Worst School Supply Ever.
Western Conference:
03:26 safety scissors vs. mechanical pencils
06:35 bottle glue vs. mini pencil sharpeners
Eastern Conference:
11:35 cheap crayons vs. school paper towels
09:02 pens with caps vs. glitter

I’m with you in the glitter! Someone borrowed the library wagons to transport art projects, and there was glitter in there for at least a year.

As a kindergarten teacher for 18 years I feel like it's a tie between glitter and school paper towels. Over a year ago I had a kiddo throw a bottle of glitter on the floor and then had a couple others tried "helping" to sweep it up. It was everywhere!! I am still finding some of that blue glitter in that corner of the room to this day. But those paper towels are useless when you have to clean up the flood caused by an entire new water bottle being knocked over.
Oh you are soooo right! Both are pretty bad. But an entire bottle of glitter?! 🙈 That sounds awful. Thanks for being our mediator, Heather. 😆🥰
You can send one of those electric sharpeners to me! I’m in a charter school that is very tight on money, and we would happily take 8 of those off of your hands! I do agree about the brown paper towels, cheap pens, and glitter. Hard pass on all of them! 😖
Right?! Such a waste of money for the school. Maybe we’ll have to do an Oprah-style show some day, “And you get a sharpener! And you get a sharpener!” 🤣
