Focus's last dog is considered one of the fastest collie but looked slow in the company of whippets. Congratulations to the Belgians. A small country doing amazing things.
That’s not the same last dog
Interesting to see the huge increase in how many whippets and lurchers are on the teams these days. It was only a few years ago that the teams would be entirely Border Collies and I think they even had to make a rule where one dog on each team couldn't be a Border Collie. As I recall, one team brought a whippet in 2016 who absolutely nailed it, and the rest is history.
Seemed to start a few years ago when the winners had a whippet which the crowd loved and it seemed so much faster. I guess sighthounds like whippets are harder to train than collies but if you put the effort in it pays off.
Whippets, lurchers and greyhounds are probably a little bit easier to train, as they already have that high prey chase drive. Meaning if you tell them what they’ve got to chase, then theyre gonna get it. The speed that these 3 breeds can deliver in seconds is amazing and as a flyball dog, they’re what id say, is a teams best bet in winning.
Hustle, and he's still competing in this final! It's why he's clearly the announcer's favourite - changed the game forever.
@@radical_dog I remember Hustle tearing it up a few years ago. Made me wonder why anybody entered any other breed.
@@johnbuell8035 Conventional wisdom was that whippets were too dumb to train like this, until... Hustle proved otherwise!
I just love seeing all the dogs having fun and giving it their best.
That little whippet that runs last for the Aces is crazy fast
That dog is named Hustle (and he's very well named!). He's been part of the Aces team at Crufts before.
For real! He was carrying that team haha
This is the most exciting sport I've ever seen. I'm literally screaming at my phone. Those dogs can motor.
A lot of these dogs are lurchers and whippets, breeds which were originally created to be very quick on their feet since their purpose was to chase small game rather than retrieve or track it by scent. They use their eyes as much as if not more than their noses which is why they're sometimes referred to as sight hounds or gaze hounds.

I love seeing (and hearing!) how excited the doggos are and how much fun they're having. It's as if they're saying "Let's go! Let's go! Lemme at that track!"

You know, every time I see Aces run, I have to just feel for the camera operator trying to keep Hustle in view. What an absolutely legendary little blur.

I have never seen this type of racing but wowie…..those puppers are fast and a wonder to watch 😁
I enrolled my dog in a fly ball training course. We spent 4 out of 6 weeks learning how to turn on the box. The problem was they basically left us to ourselves while they worked with the intermediate group. I understand the importance of getting the technique down, but it was a complete waste of money and time. After 1hr each week with we both got tired of it. We never got past the box. I think my baby would have been good at flyball had we had proper attention and training.

Do you have a flyball club that practices near you? I don't know how common this is, but I just started going to practices with a team near me and it doesn't cost anything to attend. This probably varies from club to club, but at this club, you leave your dog either in the car or in the crating area, and when it's your turn, you bring them out and they work with you individually at whatever level you're at. The rest of the time you can watch everyone else work with their dog and ask questions. If you can find a club near you that will just let you come to practice that might be something to look into.

Absolutely incredible! I love seeing the sportsmanship between the teams. Even if they all want to win, they seem to be humble enough to give kudos if someone else wins. Congratulations Roadrunners, lovely to see some variety and new faces at Crufts!
Nothing more exhilarating than watching whippets & lurchers in flyball. Can't help but be on the edge of my seat.

Funny the record here is 14.7 when Touch N Go ran a 14.1 so casually at Mutts In Motion tournament a few weeks ago lol

I absolutely scream and cheer when Hustle is out, Hustle is INSANELY fast.
Roadrunners have spectacular timing on the crossovers. The dogs are fast, but they're virtually perfect on their crossovers.
Dang aces may not have won but their last dog was a ROCKET! Just a streak on the screen, blink and you miss her run!

Yes exactly, Aces did a cross-over, so they sent the next dog too early and they crossed before the line. Therefore the other team got the point for this round.

I never known before, this race is fun to watch. Road Runner team's dogs were so fast, deserved the champion. Aces team's dogs I think maybe faster than Focus team's dogs.
There should a different category for whippets flyball or maybe a whippets only
Maybe introduce limits - a maximum of 2 dogs of any one breed - example a max of 2 whippets.
@@bobobibi7026 there used to be a rule that one dog of each team had to not be a border collie (UK only I believe). Then people found whippets lol.
Why would you do that? A different category for every breed than, because other breeds are gonna be slower than BC's...
Then you'd have to apply that with collie's for agility.
Not many whippets attend in 1 team... Your answer makes no sense.
Why don't they use all whippets?

The next dog can start whenever the owner allows them, but they can not cross the start/finish line before the current dog gets passed it.

The sport has turned into a sight hound race. Not even close. No other breeds can compete. Maybe I should start a team with some track dogs.

Hustle is a bitch, and she might be going through a post-season slump. I will say her not doing well is only in comparison to her stellar runs in past trials. Most people would kill for a dog who runs like her here!

Always amazed me when everyone used to use agile but slower border collies as opposed to more faster dogs like whippets....were they all idiots or something?... Now it's obviously whippets which will win this event each year...just goes to show those who think they know so much more than others often don't know very much at all. Go figure.
Because the average Border Collie is easier to train and has more drive than the average whippet. A lot of the "more faster dogs" are not pure whippet but crossed with Border Collie or other breeds to add in more drive and ease of training. I think whippets are becoming more common because people are realizing that even though it takes more work and it's harder to get a whippet to do something like this, it's worth the effort because they are fast. But still not everyone wants to do that.

I can see 1 big idea that crafts are not doing that would massively expand their network , it’s obvious and worth millions , message me crufts and I’ll give you a hint , but remember the idea would make crufts expand like you don’t know what
