  • Starcraft II Co-Op Solo Mission: Temple of the Past
    Co-Op commanders have some of the most stalwart static defense in all of real-time strategy. They feature insane ways of holding locations secure.
    I devised a setup to compare their performance against each other using a solo on Temple of the Past. I will be comparing their total damage ratio, their ability to defend the temple, their survivability, and their popularity with people.
    We have Raynor first with bunkers and siege tanks, that have the ability to get a full refund, fill with infantry, and quickly relocate.

    You decided not to go for the cargo upgrade on bunkers? Or p2 for stim siege tanks? Spider mines?

    I'm excited for this series. I personally think the best static defense is Stukov since I make firebases with barracks and bunkers screening tanks and the barracks pop out marines to screen the building and give more ammo to the tanks/ deal with air. Then you just move them up when you need to advance

    One additional criterion you might consider, which would particularly hurt Raynor but I think is important for the bigger picture, is consideration of how much supply your static defence is taking up. All else being equal, I'd much rather have static defence that takes up less supply, since that frees up supply to have a mobile army as well. Not sure how heavily I'd rate it, and it might be easiest to treat it as a deduction (perhaps (supply used - supply used for worked)/(max supply), multiplied by the weight given, maybe 2?), but if there are two sets that have otherwise similar scores, but one is taking up all of your supply and the other is taking up none, then the latter should probably score better.

    • @levsonc
      @levsonc Рік тому

      That's questionable. Nova have only 100 supply. How to account that?

    • @Draxynnic
      @Draxynnic Рік тому

      @@levsonc The (max supply) part of the equation is 100 rather than 200. She also needs 12 less workers due to automated refineries, which lowers the (supply used for workers) factor.

    Bunkers rarely worth the effort, sometimes on dead of night but even then.
    Though if I have a P2 Karax ally, I'll build a few of any static defense. That building chrono is just wonderful.

      I find them useful in the early game for the first attack wave, but outside of that and dead of night they’re not worth it

    At a guess, you're going to cover Raynor, Swann, Karax, possibly stukov and dehaka, Zeratul and Mengsk? stukov and dehaka are kinda the odd ones out for me just with stukov's weaponized bunkers, and dehaka's can move around pretty easily.
    Edit : as a note, you increased your marine % by 1%, though you said you were docking them points. as a note, you may also want to very slightly dock your siege tanks, since i did notice at least one point where they were firing outside of siege mode (when your expansion mineral line got clipped). given how much damage tanks pushed out though, it may be negligible.

      Impalers are decent static defense for dehaka, but I don't know how they fare vs guardians

    • @Ricardo_Rick
      @Ricardo_Rick Рік тому +1

      i mean, stukov have tanks as well, and since his bunkers are making units does that counts as static?
      And we all know Swann may have the best defense since the laser drill counts and have a prestige just for them

    • @edschramm6757
      @edschramm6757 Рік тому +3

      @@Ricardo_Rick i'm expecting it to be a coin toss between Swann and Karax. Karax may lose some points from damage though, just by merit of top bar.
      I was kinda putting stukov and Dehaka in the same group, seeing his bunkers as somewhat comparable to the swarm hosts. odd to me that one is in without the other.
      I'm also stunned that Kerrigan is in this discussion, i can't think of any non-standard defenses she has, unless he's counting lurkers? which feels arbitrary since Dehaka isn't present with Impalers and his Primal Wurms, which are much more unique than spine/spore crawlers.

    • @Ricardo_Rick
      @Ricardo_Rick Рік тому +1

      @@edschramm6757 Good point, but i guess kerrigan is there because malignant creep makes the spine/spore shoots faster and heals tho.
      I think swann with prestige might win because of damage, but Karax is also very great too, it will be a tough match

    Awesome video.. my main critique for analysis for Raynor is that I know SCVs are hard to track with the tools, but -- they take up supply, and they take up mineral costs, they absolutely should be considered part of the static defense (imagine not having them--the outcome of the map would be much worse)

    @zachariastsampasidis8880 Рік тому +2

    I think this metric, analytic as it is doesn't really tell everything especially if you add siege type of units. Tanks will count but I guess lurkers colossi or broods won't
    Mengsk karax and swann and zeratul are the best in terms of automated no supply efficient defence. Bunkers are an interesting case: a fully manned bunker has great dps but also costs supply and extra res to do so

    • @notoriousthief

      Lurkers would since they have to be sieged (burrowed?), same with liberators and raven turrets

      @@notoriousthief yeah but they are still units. Dehaka Worms would be reasonable to consider as static defence. What about swarm hosts? They too can be burrowed and attack
