me too. since sonic gens doesn't use camera controls i don't use the mouse when playing it (as opposed with shadow gens where most of the buttons are on my mouse) so they feel like two completely different games , so my muscle memory takes over when playing sonic gens
I did it the same way, especially since Shadow gens feels similar to Frontiers in some ways, so some of the muscle memory from that game kicks in for shadow gens.
They share the same velocity, Gens just gives you the illusion of going fast because of the camera and the FOV, they run at the same speed on the in-game files
I've heard a lot of people talking about this, but I've personally never ever felt this bouncing between games problem It's likely because I was already used to playing multiple Sonic games as a kid - I'd spend most of my free time swapping between unleashed, gens, sa3&k and the demos for sa2 and sonic 4 e2 - so I believe my brain just learned to pull switch the gears for each game seamlessly. Because of this, I'm gonna say sorry in advance, but I can't stand how people go on and on about each game controlling differently
unfortunately i played shadow generations first and now i can barley sit down to play sonic generations. i sometimes dislike the game for its shitty controls compared to shadow
Shadow gens is more suited for platforming. Generations is timing and action based with a heavy focus on getting through the levels smartly and quickly. They’re not the same, really.
@@Plurbi It’s exactly the opposite. Shadow runs on the frontiers engine and feels awful compared to generations. Gens has the best engine out of any Sonic game.
As someone who started with Shadow then went to go play OG for the sake of it, I immediately felt it. It had come to a point where I was playing drastically worse in Chemical Plant than ever before and just wanted to boot Shadow back up. It's unfortunate, but at least that demonstrates that there is legitimately improvement happening that we can see and feel. I saw some comments saying that playing OG Gens on legacy controls keeps their muscle memory intact and helps Gens feel better, which is what I had planned to do and probably will do soon.
I think they are just too scared with how ultimate turned out and are playing it safer by not messing with stuff too much gameplay wise and just kinda changed things they didn’t like, amy being pushed by sonic for example and of course the rewritten dialogue
This is why I will alwaysssss say Unleashed has the better level design between it and Generations. It’s designed FAR better for the controls it has than Generations
@@TylerBR97 Generations has the biggest clash between controls and design this side of Sonic 3D Flickies' Island. Sky Sanctuary is a complete shit show. My mans handles like a boat
The challenge likely comes from the fact that *Sonic Generations* and *Shadow the Hedgehog* were made using two different game engines: Hedgehog Engine 1 and Hedgehog Engine 2, respectively. Since these engines are fundamentally different, making the original *Generations* feel like *Shadow the Hedgehog* would be difficult. They would essentially need to rebuild the game from scratch to make the two feel similar. At that point, it wouldn't be a remaster anymore-it would be a full remake.
I've honestly felt this way about Generations for a long while. I feel like now that we are truly going back to the standards we used to have for Sonic games like Generations, a lot of that game's quirks and gameplay for the era are starting to show their age, which tbh is a natural thing anyway. We're definitely in a good place with Sonic if we can finally have discussions about one of the most beloved Sonic games of all time being outdone (by it's counterpart, no less 🤣)
This was my first time playing sonic generations, and I thought he controlled heavy and he was slippery. But after time, i got used to both sonic and shadow’s gameplay, so I got not complaints. They both have a good gameplay for different aspects
It's a double-edged sword. It does control better, but what I noticed first was how *SLOW* Shadow is. I still prefer Sonic Generations for its spectacle, and speed, but I will say if they have to slow the character down to make a bigger game viable, I'm okay with that.
In all honesty the only thing I wish they changed in Sonic Gens was removing the flight with Super Sonic because I don't know about you but I would like to actually play as Super Sonic, not have 10 rings a second be taken away every time I try to boost. Sorry bout the rant, but I just had to get it out there.
@@billerrrHe was a reward for collecting all of the Red Star Rings in the Wii version and Ultimate while the DS version locks him to a true final boss like many prior Sonic games.
To summarize this video for any readers, going from Shadow Gens to Sonic Gens or vice verse is a clear noticeable difference in terms of gameplay. There's no real problem here. For those who played Sonic Generations when it was released in 2011, going back to play it now will feel the same with just the little update to the visuals. For new comers this COULD throw their gameplay off, but nothing difficult to get use to.
yeah i dont really get what hes trying to say because i played both and i didnt feel a 'Whiplash" at all. Maybe its because im used to Frontiers gameplay and Generations gameplay?
@@AntolaResHonestly, the best solution is probably just to simply view them as entirely different games (which they technically are. Shadow Gens just comes bundled together with the remaster). Like, I do have to spend a small amount of time to get used to Sonic Gens and vice versa when switching, but that's actually mostly unrelated to the controls. Rather, I have to play for a few minutes (like 5 minutes at the most, and probably closer to 2-3... if not less) to get used to the homing attack range.
Going from this to Sonic Unleashed must feel like a nightmare. I was wondering how Shadow would play in the Sonic stages, which was a weird question to have but made sense since they basically are two different games.
The positives I enjoyed was seeing Sonic actually talk to his friends in the hub world, some the rewritten dialogue was good, the only problem’s I had were the animations not being altered to fit the new dialogue, the lack of certain tracks in the music option that army in this version of the game and that the Time Eater boss fight wasn’t improved or changed in any way shape or form….that was a massive let down. Other than that I’d say calling the Sonic portion a remaster isn’t entirely accurate, I think it should called a slightly tweaked port. I also do wish they gave Shadow customizable skills, like a Limiter Ring surge like 06 or maybe even the Chaos Blast, now that would’ve been cool!
They should’ve remade sonic gens more drastically 1) make it look as good as shadow gens, use HE2 and frontiers movement engine with the same boost effects and such 2) change modern sonic levels to be 100% 3D 3) rewrite the story. No amount of convincing will make me believe that they rewrote the game. They changed the lines slightly to be different than the OG, not a real rewrite. Plus crappy lip syncing and animations weren’t changed. 4) make a last story like in the adventure games.
Am i the only one who has an easier time with jumps and homing attacks in the Sonic Gens side of things? Air control feels weird in Shadow Gens and it's really the only weak spot in the game as a whole. Switching between Sonic and Shadow Gens, i feel like Shadow gens has better ground control but Sonic gens has way more air control and i feel more comfortable Platforming with the original Gens controls.
Had this problem myself, especially after playing Frontiers earlier this year as well. It profoundly effected my experience with the game and the overall review score we gave it. The whiplash was absolutely palpable to the point where it felt almost unbearable. I wished I was playing the cyberspace levels in Frontiers!
People always confuse *more precise* controls for *better* controls. Sure, I can choose my trajectory better with the air boost, my mid-air turn radius is tighter and the double jump lets me be more precise in Shadow Gens, but the game feel of Sonic Gens is unmatched by that of Shadow Gens. It's not just faster, it's camera emphasises that speed better, the jump carries more momentum, bouncing off of enemies retains your forward momentum, and the air boost launches way further and faster. The drift allows for quick, tight and exhilarating turns, and despite the fact that I can more easily and precisely turn in Shadow because of the turning radius, drifting is just more fun than that. It has challenge and thrill, as opposed to just control. That last part is the main reason I prefer Sonic gen's controls. Take Sky Sanctuary 2, my favourite level in Gens except for possibly Radical Highway 1. It has a lot of platforming which boils down to just, air boost, jump to the thing. Shadow Gens is full of that kind of level design, but there it's standard generic platforming where as in Sonic Gens it's some of the best parts of the game, because the controls make it engaging and challenging, unlike in Shadow where air boosting and jumping is the easiest stuff ever.
For these kind of games it's not a "confuse for" thing. I think it's just better. You can still have movement that has momentum carry while also having percise controls. Sonic in gens having better non-boosting and just overall less heavy movement wouldn't hurt the game. It would just give you more flexiabillty
@@kaobunn yeah that's what I meant, and I agree that it's better than the qte stuff, I just think sonic gens' wild and uncontrolled movement makes platforming more interesting. I think shadow gens' movement allows the potential for more interesting platforming *design* and has way more potential as a gameplay style- potential that it actually reaches in it's best levels but I like the challenge of moving around in Sonic gens more than most of what shadow gens does.
@@JaydenXVBad phrasing on my part there, what I mean is I dont think more precise controls are *fundamentally* better. I completely understand why most people find them to be just *better* Yeah, an ideal sonic game would combine the strengths of both games, but if I had to choose between the two I personally would go with sonic gens' approach.
i honestly felt the opposite; it was awkward for me to get used to shadow generations from sonic generations. this is probably because i haven't played frontiers.
Sonic controls in gens always felt like that when he’s not boosting I personally see sonics controls in generations as a slight downgrade to unleashed because I see how fast and perfect the movement I was kind of hoping that they would change that in sonic generations
Personally, while I find Shadow’s non-boosting ground movement to be much better than Sonic’s, I find his boosting far more frustrating to control in the linear action stages. While Sonic would always boost fairly straight and slowly ease over left and right allowing you to easily line yourself up for rings or enemies, Shadow’s boost absolutely flies in whatever direction your stick might slightly be leaning towards. That makes it much harder to perfectly line yourself up to hit certain rings or enemy lines. Not even the quick step can be guaranteed to line you up correctly. It’s a little bit easier if you’re able to play in 60fps, but if you’re stuck on something like the Switch… Yikes. For the first time in my life I had to learn to start letting go of the control stick in certain sections just to guarantee I would actually run straight. The strong turning boost is nice in the open world though. I also find Shadow’s air movement much less enjoyable. (Not that any of the boost games have particularly great jumping.) His jump feels so stiff and a little too short and his air boost is pathetic. Sure you can use the Chaos Spear glitch to give Shadow some actual air time and speed, but it’s pretty unlikely that blasting Chaos Spear after every jump or air boost was how Sonic Team intended everyone to play the game. There’s also a lot of other little things I miss, too. Like short hops, drifting, and the air dash. So saying Shadow controls better than Sonic really depends on the situation and who you’re talking to. I’m also someone that despises the Generations implementation of the drop dash for modern Sonic. I play the game using legacy controls, and unintentionally triggering it caused me so many deaths. Please Sonic Team, release a patch that lets us turn the move off.
To be honest I wouldn’t have minded if they remade Sonic Generations in the Hedgehog Engine 2, but I know a LOT of people would be pissed if they did that (What I mean by that specifically so the controls match)
Honestly I see this package like if I want full speed without stop on almost any time sonic gens is my perfect game, but if I want full control and feel the level itself shadow generations made this in a perfect way (made it even better for the ambience of epicity while gens is more like sensation of speed for both sonics) Idk I see it in that way xd
Thanks for mentioning this I also had that problem as well That fact you have to change the whole muscle memory to switch games in a single package is just abysmal. I definitely think shadow gens control are so good literally is the most free like change air boost directions. Sonic gens does not need change in physics imo the level design fits perfectly with it so it’s fine Just the change to different game and obviously there’s nothing sega can do about it
The thing is, shadow is using hedgehog engine 2 unlike sonic with the first hedgehog engine. yes, sonic controls really weird for some reason and also the grafics aren't as good as shadow's part of the game. Maybe future mods or updates will make Sonic's part better
I personally would say rather than one being better than the other, it’s more so gens and unleashed are too heavy when not boosting and but have a better sense of speed when boosting. But shadow gens is a bit slow when boosting and a little too controllable when not. So it’s just a huge contrast when they should play similarly being on half of the same game like 3d world and bowsers fury, so things are too inconsistent when switching between the two.
In 2011, Sonic Generations got a C grade metacritic average. Most gamers considered it an improvement over Sonic 06 and Unleaahed. But "good by 3DSonic standards" isn't good by modern videogame standards. In 2011, plenty of Sonic fans still disliked boost games. You can deep Google discussion you forgot. But 3D Sonic games in general were globally considered mediocre, so Generations was a game that needed less defense.
the same thing has happened to me although what bothers me more is how weird the final boss of shadow gens is i mean the boss is from shadow 05 but the location is from sa2 although the music is from sonic 06 and they made a second version of an already existing boss it looks cool but why
I actually disagree on Shadow's movement being definitively "better" than Sonic's. I think a character being more challenging to control and master can add its own depth to a game. Sonic's movement is clunkier but WAY faster, so it's satisfying to master such an unweildy control style for the reward of having such incredible speed. You can also see this in other platformers. I find Donkey Kong's heavier controls in DKC more satisfying to master than Mario's super fluid controls in Mario Wonder. I think Mario's ease of control makes the game way too easy for veteran players like me.
I actually think the exact oposite, Shadow for me feels too light, Sonic generation's heaviness is some thing preety good, it feels good when its going fast, Shadow gens doesn't feel as fast or polished as that game.
Bro I was thinking the same thing yesterday after I switched from kingdom valley shadow to crisis core sonic, I couldn't do anything as sonic and kept dying even though I've completed generations like 3 times and played it like 5 times . I hope we get sonic stages in shadow generations/engine in the future
Sonic generations and shadow generations are both polished. But as a whole package together? Not at all. Like the movement thing. The music thingies are not shared across games which was a huge thing to miss out on. I wish these two games were polished as a package.
To be honest I know this is a hot take but j think the 3d lvls are the best part of sonic and shadow gens the 2d parts are fun too and Ik it was advertised cuz that but the 3d stuff is rlly fun for me
After shadow generations I went to play sonics part for the first time and after getting through a few stages (which were just ok, I didnt really love them but I didnt hate em either) I got to the challenge stage with knuckles where you gotta dig stuff up and I didnt wanna do that so badly I just stopped playing
I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt this. I love how Shadows controls in a similar way Sonic does in Frontiers. As you said, finishing Shadow Generations and going back to Sonic Generations feels weird and I really don't want to keep playing it lmao.
@@JaydenXV It does look worse, as the lighting (and ironically, the colors) is seriously off in many places. And many bugs still remain, such as one level where the entrance animation is glitched, even to this day.
What about non-Sonic fans. Generally a game with a fast falloff rate, particularly on Steam is considered to lack gamer interest. Sonic Generations is yet another Sonic game with a fast falloff active player rate. With any AAA videogame, that would consider it a failure. Shadow Generations is a decent game. But Shadow Generations lost 90% of its playerbase in 72 hours. The game is good by Sonic standards, but its just limited and outdated compared to proper modern videogames
That's not really the point I'm making. But yes obviously. But in a remaster maybe a bit more could have been done for gens so it doesn't give you whiplash when switching games within in the same package.
@@apexatrovinator7510 Yeah, sold as one game, Sonics side of the release should've gotten more tweaks too. People make physics mods all the time so its not like they couldn't change it being the developers themselves.
I definitely felt that when it came to switching between Sonic Gens and Shadow Gens. I personally think this is by design so Sega and Sonic Team can own critics who say that the old Hedgehog Engine was better. (Sonic Gens is Hedgehog engine 2 while Shadow Gens is Hedgehog Engine 4) My main problem with Shadow Gens is that it's so short, and it feels like stuff is missing. I really hope they add more DLC after the movie pack in December.
Absolutely feeling all of this. Never liked Sonic Generations controls when not boosting. Even Colors felt better. And even before ShadGen released, I felt like the smoothest, tightest boost game to control was Sonic Omens.
Main 3 problems I have with the whole package: . Classic’s physics are still hella stiff, and he still looses speed when trying to roll down a hill. Fans have managed to fix this, but SEGA didn’t fix it for some reason. . Classic Sonic has a weird-ass animation glitch in Sky Sanctuary Act 1 when he goes through the first teleporter. . In Metal Sonic’s rival battle, the track and music doesn’t line up like they did in the original. Issue 3.5 is that we probably won’t ever get a Marza Planet skin.
I started off playing Sonics campaign first before Shadows and IMMEDIATELY felt how bad the controls for modern Sonic were and kept telling myself "Was it really this bad?" It's amazing how much they've improved the boost gameplay
They should've just improved the controls to be up to par with Shadow Gens AND THEN have a option to turn back to the original controls if you want a u purist experience.
I like Shadows controls I just think a few doom powers (doom wing, surf and morph) kinda suck and aren’t that fun. Doom wing and doom morph on the final two levels are extremely frustrating. I think it would’ve been better if they just left it with chaos control, doom spear and blast.
I see your point but what you and critics fail to realize is that Sonic Generations and Shadow Generations are two completely different games, Shadow Gens may be connected to Sonic Gens now but they are very different despite both being boost games. Sonic Gens was designed to feel that way because it’s a much faster paced game. If you put Shadow in Sonic Generations it would take the appeal out of the levels, there would be no dodging, or reaction based gameplay, it would be slow and boring. You talk about the Adventure games being fundamentally different to Unleashed and Generations but Shadow Generations is definitely fundamentally different to Sonic Gens, so I don’t get the comparison. I could honestly go on forever but I feel Critics have really Gaslit people like you into believing that Sonic Generations is some flawed outdated mess, I don’t get why people let critics take there enjoyment out of something🤦♂️

This is why I say they should have remade Sonic generations from the start with the hedgehog engine 2. It would take longer before they release it sure but we can wait. This soft reboot wasn't bad but wasn't the best
Honestly feel like the one guy out there that thinks regular Gens is better than Shadow Gens. Shadow Gens still has nearly all the same flaws Sonic has had to me since Forces. So much automation, Shadow doesn't blink, feeling slow while boosting, the quick step is almost impossible to use when using standard layout with the trigger to boost, graphically still looks weaker than Gens or Unleashed (Kingdom Valley looks especially poor), mandatory challenges to progress, and very few actual splitting paths that last more than 3-5 seconds. Most egregious is probably that QTEs still do nothing. Go ahead, fail the QTEs in the bosses, it gives you the win anyways doing the same animation even if you press nothing. The only QTE you can fail in the entire game is the very first one on the ark, and Shadow doesn't die, he blinks to the side and teleports back to the beginning of the QTE. Otherwise every single one is fully automatic. Even Forces had an animation for failing the QTEs.
Im sorry no. Shadows story has that frontiers clunk every hedgehog 2 engine game has had since lost world. Cut the crap, sonic generations is a much better game over all.
Shadow Gens is significantly better than Gens. Classic drags down Gens with its significantly worse controls of the three hedgehogs. Shadow Gens allows for more creative speedruns, a lot more opportunity for exploration, and just way better control. When shit doesn’t go your way, it actually feels like your fault unlike in Sonic Gens. By comparison, Sonic is so unwieldy
i literally played shadow generations so much and liked it so much that im just dreading sonic generations 100 percenting it because im a refined boost kid not an unleashed boost kid
@@TylerBR97 i just meant i like my sonic games as fast paced platformers, not fucking racetracks lol. still, mad respect for unleashed cuz it created the formula for sonic gens, and sonic x shadow gens wouldnt be here today without it
This was intentional. Sonic's side of the story is worse, his controls are worse, his level design in worse. Sonic and Shadow are two sides of the same coin but this being the "Year of Shadow," the goal was to make Shadow look even better by making Sonic look worse in comparison. This was also seen in the trailer for the movie where he effortlessly bodies Sonic.

They share the same velocity, Gens just gives you the illusion of going fast because of the camera and the FOV, they run at the same speed on the in-game files
I've heard a lot of people talking about this, but I've personally never ever felt this bouncing between games problem
It's likely because I was already used to playing multiple Sonic games as a kid - I'd spend most of my free time swapping between unleashed, gens, sa3&k and the demos for sa2 and sonic 4 e2 - so I believe my brain just learned to pull switch the gears for each game seamlessly.
Because of this, I'm gonna say sorry in advance, but I can't stand how people go on and on about each game controlling differently
Yeah, it honestly helps to just think of Sonic Gens and Shadow gens as two different games that simply happen to take place at the same time.
unfortunately i played shadow generations first and now i can barley sit down to play sonic generations. i sometimes dislike the game for its shitty controls compared to shadow
@@TheBrandedOne2003 shadow gens has better turning and jumping
As someone who started with Shadow then went to go play OG for the sake of it, I immediately felt it. It had come to a point where I was playing drastically worse in Chemical Plant than ever before and just wanted to boot Shadow back up. It's unfortunate, but at least that demonstrates that there is legitimately improvement happening that we can see and feel. I saw some comments saying that playing OG Gens on legacy controls keeps their muscle memory intact and helps Gens feel better, which is what I had planned to do and probably will do soon.
As a speed runner. It’s kind of you thing tbh
It would be fair to say way more people have been interested in speed running shadow gens due to the movement options
Generations has better drift control
@@PJRNWY disagree, unleashed is way more weighty and feels great to me
@@ChrisStoneinator it’s your opinion but maybe I’m just trash with unleashed drift
Tbh, I like the Sonic Gens controls more. It’s more fast and I never knew how much I needed the drift in my life prior to playing gens.
Yeah, Super Sonic was pretty hit or miss in the 2010s.
I don't know how, he was awesome in Sonic Colors.
He wasn’t even in sonic colors
@@billerrr yes he was he's a reward for clearing the special stages
@@billerrrHe was a reward for collecting all of the Red Star Rings in the Wii version and Ultimate while the DS version locks him to a true final boss like many prior Sonic games.
I thought that was ultimate exclusive
This is why I always buy sonic games on PC. Mods fix everything. 😊
Your last bolt might be in the Mephiles dungeon lol. It was for me, it was in the doom morph goo on the ceiling in the entrance below Chaos Island.
I do feel the whiplash tbh. Shadow Gens feels like Shadow Unleashed with older stages tbh.
The funny thing is I see the bolt in the gameplay unless the gameplay was recorded b4 you only had one left
They should’ve remade sonic gens more drastically
1) make it look as good as shadow gens, use HE2 and frontiers movement engine with the same boost effects and such
2) change modern sonic levels to be 100% 3D
3) rewrite the story.
Wasn't base generations physics based of the Havok engine? I don't think the stages would've worked with Shadow Generations physics.
Yeah, I noticed that immediately. I might have to a physic mod to get Sonic Gen as smooth as Shadow Gen
It would just give you more flexiabillty
it's not standard generic platforming, it's just platforming, which is what we want more than unleashed's QTE style of gameplay
I completely understand why most people find them to be just *better*
Yeah, an ideal sonic game would combine the strengths of both games, but if I had to choose between the two I personally would go with sonic gens' approach.
i honestly felt the opposite; it was awkward for me to get used to shadow generations from sonic generations.
this is probably because i haven't played frontiers.
To be honest I wouldn’t have minded if they remade Sonic Generations in the Hedgehog Engine 2, but I know a LOT of people would be pissed if they did that
(What I mean by that specifically so the controls match)
Honestly I see this package like if I want full speed without stop on almost any time sonic gens is my perfect game, but if I want full control and feel the level itself shadow generations made this in a perfect way (made it even better for the ambience of epicity while gens is more like sensation of speed for both sonics)
Idk I see it in that way xd
Thanks for mentioning this
I also had that problem as well
That fact you have to change the whole muscle memory to switch games in a single package is just abysmal. I definitely think shadow gens control are so good literally is the most free like change air boost directions.
Sonic gens does not need change in physics imo the level design fits perfectly with it so it’s fine
Just the change to different game and obviously there’s nothing sega can do about it
5:32 fin.
The thing is, shadow is using hedgehog engine 2 unlike sonic with the first hedgehog engine.
yes, sonic controls really weird for some reason and also the grafics aren't as good as shadow's part of the game. Maybe future mods or updates will make Sonic's part better
Its not, you can find it another time when you want. 0:20
Tbh , in sonic generations I've enjoyed classic sonic stages a lot more than modern sonic.
Someone please make a mod to fix this.
Sonic generations and shadow generations are both polished. But as a whole package together? Not at all. Like the movement thing. The music thingies are not shared across games which was a huge thing to miss out on. I wish these two games were polished as a package.
To be honest I know this is a hot take but j think the 3d lvls are the best part of sonic and shadow gens the 2d parts are fun too and Ik it was advertised cuz that but the 3d stuff is rlly fun for me
*The "problem" is that you are only acknowledging problems non-Sonic fanboys addressed back in 2011.* But accused of being antiSonic
After shadow generations I went to play sonics part for the first time and after getting through a few stages (which were just ok, I didnt really love them but I didnt hate em either) I got to the challenge stage with knuckles where you gotta dig stuff up and I didnt wanna do that so badly I just stopped playing
Music??👁️
Trails to Azure - Things Have Started Moving
I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt this. I love how Shadows controls in a similar way Sonic does in Frontiers. As you said, finishing Shadow Generations and going back to Sonic Generations feels weird and I really don't want to keep playing it lmao.
1:52 You say "Colors", yet you're showing Colors Ultimate, which has worse controls, more bugs, bloat and honestly looks uglier than the original.
Colors ultimate does not control different, looks worse and bloat is your opinion, and a lot of the bugs have been patched
@@JaydenXV It does look worse, as the lighting (and ironically, the colors) is seriously off in many places. And many bugs still remain, such as one level where the entrance animation is glitched, even to this day.
for me it isnt a big deal i just gotta boot up sonic gens first for the day
What about non-Sonic fans.
You saw unleash's video and wanted to make it a regerse argument, bruh
I actually have not seen his video. This may come as a shock but I dont actually watch sonic content really lol
wouldnt you want the new game to feel better than the old one?
That's not really the point I'm making. But yes obviously. But in a remaster maybe a bit more could have been done for gens so it doesn't give you whiplash when switching games within in the same package.
@@JaydenXV im pretty sure they wanted newcomers to experience the purest form of sonic gens
Sonic Fans gracefully take a W without whinging about SOMETHING Challenge (impossible).
No, his criticisms are fair, sonic gens deserved a graphical and control upgrade
The world isn’t black and white and there is nuance to everything and everyone has their own opinions… so deal with it
@@apexatrovinator7510 Yeah, sold as one game, Sonics side of the release should've gotten more tweaks too. People make physics mods all the time so its not like they couldn't change it being the developers themselves.
@@apexatrovinator7510 Changing the controls would make it a different game, and I don't think SXSG necessarily controls better
I definitely felt that when it came to switching between Sonic Gens and Shadow Gens. I personally think this is by design so Sega and Sonic Team can own critics who say that the old Hedgehog Engine was better. (Sonic Gens is Hedgehog engine 2 while Shadow Gens is Hedgehog Engine 4)
My main problem with Shadow Gens is that it's so short, and it feels like stuff is missing. I really hope they add more DLC after the movie pack in December.
Absolutely feeling all of this. Never liked Sonic Generations controls when not boosting. Even Colors felt better. And even before ShadGen released, I felt like the smoothest, tightest boost game to control was Sonic Omens.
I would kill for a generations remaster with the frontiers engine tbh
Shadow gens feels better because of s level design is land slides ahead if sonic gens
Main 3 problems I have with the whole package:
Issue 3.5 is that we probably won’t ever get a Marza Planet skin.
. After playing shadow gens I legit only got to seaside hill before u stopped😭idk what it is
I started off playing Sonics campaign first before Shadows and IMMEDIATELY felt how bad the controls for modern Sonic were and kept telling myself "Was it really this bad?" It's amazing how much they've improved the boost gameplay
literally same feeling bro, thought i was crazy!!
I dont get how Shadow forgot mephikes when its been said in an interview somewhere that Sonic, Blaze and Shadow remember 06.
"Interview somewhere" Bro, do you hear yourself?
How are you going to take a random sentence in an interview where people are known to make mistakes as they are almost always put on the spot, over an official release that has been proofread and checked multiple times?
@sikosonix901 that *"Interview somewhere"* was said by Sonic team themselves.
If I could find it, I'd send the link.
@@ataladin87 again I say, they very easily could have made a mistake since they were put on the spot. In fact, in one of the earlier interviews for SXSG the head of Sonic Team said that Shadow Generations would be significantly shorter than Sonic Generations. Low and behold, he was incorrect.
@sikosonix901 what *"Mistake"* Are you talking about seriously??? You do know people rehearse interviews and what they gonna say, right?? This is not something you just do for the 1st time, especially knowing how that topic is mostly spoken within the fanbase..
@@ataladin87 bro if you don’t even remember what the interview was you’re probably just imagining it in your head they don’t remember 06 this is not a debate bro😭🙏
This is why I say they should have remade Sonic generations from the start with the hedgehog engine 2. It would take longer before they release it sure but we can wait. This soft reboot wasn't bad but wasn't the best
Maybe it they add dlc and they fix the controls
Unleashed is very different to Gens because the level design philosophy between the two are so different. Unleashed is tailor made for its controls.
Sonic generations always controlled like shit. Another reason why it’s not the best Sonic game.
can we finally admit that sonic generations controls are SO HORRIBLE???
