A Venus Fly trap has a Single braincell, this braincell count's how many times a hair has been touched, if it get's touched 4 Times with less then 5sec in-between, the brain cell knows that it is deep in there and will bite. If after the bute the hair is still touched like 3 times, the plant knows something struggles and produced acid for whatever is inside to eat it. They only produce it then to save energy if it was a miss.
This wasp was just lucky that it didn't touch the hair multiple times since it was standing there pretty still.

I have a large 4 year old plant that has just gone into flower. These are marsh plants (or so I’m told), so the moss has to be kept sodden. I killed one before I realised this.
They can’t handle tap water either, I killed another one learning this lesson.
The thrive in rain, or spring, water. Get the watering right and they pretty much look after themselves. Having said that, I have noticed that they are prone to greenfly if left outside.

Seeing them panic trying to rescue that one that got captured by the plant was very satisfying to watch
