"All my life I have dealt with animals, which finally led to my passion as a nature filmmaker and nature photographer. I know the behavior of the animals, how and where they live. During the last summer I dealt extensively with the cinematic documentation of the social wasps. The pictures were taken in my own garden in the Eifel in Germany. I was able to capture many interesting behaviors in the video: hornets hunt wasps to feed their brood. Yellow jackets and paper wasp fight each other. The animals in the body care and in slow motion in daring flight maneuvers. Like all other species, they function in the most complex ecosystems and are important links in a fabric of hundreds of thousands of species and dependencies. While we believe that we need to regulate it aggressively, we have consistently and consistently demonstrated that we are not capable of understanding these nested systems."

Protection?:D European wasps are peaceful, no needs for any kind of protection. And this guy was also respectful to them and did stay 1 metre away. I think that literally no wasp would attack just cuz you're 1 metre close to it. Also, don't forget that this is a Feeder, so the wasps may have been collecting food from there for days. So, they've got used to the man probably, in that case you can even feed them on hand, no problem. I also have wasp feeders, that's why I know.

0:47, the two closest are yellowjackets, furthest is a paper wasp.
Yellow jackets and the other one European hornet
The slightly larger one is Polistes dominula or European Paperwasp
_Vespula_ stings don't tend to hurt nearly as much as _Polistes_ stings. The most painful sting in the world from a hymenoptera is attributed to _Polistes carnifex_ , the executioner wasp.
It seems the Yellowjackets are fine with the paper wasp
While I find it funny how the wasps run from the hornet like scared children from a ghost, with only a few brave/stupid wasps trying to challenge it, 3:58 was my favorite moment of them all.

I wonder how many people don't know that hornets are wasps. If someone doesn't understand yet, genus Vespa (hornets) belongs to the same family as Vespula (wasps). These are social wasps both, and there isn't any big difference between wasps and hornets except for their size.
Ants and bees (including bumblebees) are also closely related to wasps
Also yellow jackets are considered wasps, but not hornets. The yellow jacket group includes yellow jackets and bald faced hornets, which are not true hornets.
Hornets are giant wasps, thats the understanding I got whole time... thanks for making it make sense
