“Black Swan” tells the story of a dancer, an artist, who fears the death of their career: the moment when they can no longer perform on stage. The moment when music no longer touches BTS’s hearts or stirs their passion is the moment when the specter of that “first death” appears. It's an reference to the movie Black Swan which is about a ballerina. The lyrics said "that's how I die my first death" and it's coming from a quote by Martha Graham, the legendary dancer, once said that “a dancer dies twice-once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful.” The white swan slowly turns in a black swan because of the shadows, like you can see with their outfits. White at the beginning but black at the end

BTS is the biggest group in the world, and one of the biggest artists on the planet. They have surpassed the kpop category years ago already.
"Their voices are like a cloud hug" that was the cutest and most accurate comparison to bts's voice tones I've ever heard, this is really how it feels listening to them sing

At 7:42 that’s our World Wide Handsome Jin, he is amazing vocalist as well. 9:30 The voice you kept on liking and the one you asked for in the beginning of Black Swan is Jungkook (you can call him JK) he is the main vocalist of the group. 13:09 yes that’s Suga one of the best Rappers and producers. 20:42 rapping in Mic drop is RM that’s the leader of BTS. The one doing the contemporary dancing (he is one of the main dancers) is Jimin, he had the silvery hair and in white in “ON”and the last member who did the beginning on Mic Drop (main dancer and so much flow) is JHope. The one you like is V (Kim Taehyung). The one whose voice gives you goosebumps is JK or Jungkook. The other beautiful one is Jin (WWH for world wide handsome).

Jin realized that his face got recognition even outside S.Korea (worldwide). Army agreed and started to call him WWH. There's no lie tho, he is handsome...
Jin gave himself his nickname and used it as a ice breaker for many interviews. However he does not consider himself as the most handsome in the world( he is humble but I will say he is one of the most handsome ones too) and says only because his beauty is recognized worldwide hence WWH. He has many viral moments due to his beauty. Also he is a person who advocates self praise which helped many.

The first song they sang at the UN, Permission to Dance choreograph is from the sign language, "joy, dance & peace" if you didn't notice it. Thank you for reacting to BTS and understanding the "hype", though as an ARMY I have to deny that it is hype - they really are that good.
I like Stray Kids too, though I don;t follow them, because BTS has done and continues to do so much that I don;t really have time yet. For me, Stray Kids are definitely very talented indeed, great dancers and singers, and relatively young so still huge potential.
However the meanings and message behind BTS' work is much deeper than for SK's music, and that will always be my draw. Yes, Permission to dance is, you're right simply a happy song, no deeper meaning, and BTS made this and the other English songs, during the pandemic lockdown to cheer people up - no other reason.
But usually BTS' songs, however "bright", carry a deeper meaning or reason. Sometimes you have to look a little deeper, but I love that. Black Swan refers to a quote from Martha Graham about a dancer dies twice, the first death, when she can no longer dance, is the more painful, and explores the fear of no longer being able to create. This was actually much more real than we thought when it came out : BTS have been suffering from burnout and are currently not doing many hroup activities, exploring solo work and will come back in a couple of years as a group. No one knows WHAT this means, but we await them with trust in out hearts.
Already, JHope has issued a solo album, Jack-in-the-box, and headlined Lollapalooza. ComPLETELY different from Sunshine Hobi, and incredibly fresh and powerful. I always knew it was there, so it was lovely to see. And Suga and JL have had several collabs released, Jin, RM and V are travelling a lot - which usually means something is going on. Jin's due to head off to the army by the end of the year - but before that there is the Busan concert, which will ne streamed live, free, around the world.

And, now you know why they are at the top!!! Loved your reaction....Do you have the subtitles on so you can see the lyrics? I couldn't tell if you did or not....In case you don't know how, just hit the cc button at the bottom of the videos and you can get English subtitles. Almost all of BTS' vids have the subtitles except a few from the very beginning of their careers. Their lyrics are just fantastic. There's soooooo much to see by them - you can literally pick ANY song by them and you won't be disappointed. They have quite a diverse discography --- Enjoy your journey!!!! I hope you look into some of the funny vids and vids with interviews, etc., and get to know their personalities and listen to some of their solo stuff too. They truly are 7 of the best people on the planet!!! (and all are multi-talented)

There are a lot of really good Kpop male idol groups out there, but what makes BTS different is that they have musical control over what they do. This is unheard of in the Kpop industry, where most groups have little to no input into their music or their videos. I believe this is why their music hits in a different way...because it comes from the heart and soul of the members. Yes, they are phenomenal dancers and are great in front of the camera as well. Big Hit entertainment took a big risk by putting so much of BTS efforts into the American music market, and it paid off well. Glad you enjoyed the videos.

Hi, good reaction, ty. That was so fun. Your cute. They looked handsome. Loved the outfits. They were doing sign language in this song. Heard that old school vibe with a modern twist. Love it. Yes, it does make me want to dance. =0) This song and MV has so many cool things about it: Ed Sheeran co-wrote it, there is sign language for 'happy', 'peace', and 'dance' in the choreography, it highlights those most affected by the pandemic (service/essential workers, kids, the elderly), and the end has the dancing with all of their staff. SUGA has been saying phrase about falling and landing since 2018. "I'm afraid of falling but I'm not afraid of landing" he said on multiple occasions, during interviews, Festa, etc. and now they used his words in this song. A positive song that is perfect for summer, it promises a return to the normal world without the virus. The end with the production team is soo sweet! I hope u watch the MV one day. =0] PTD made u cry because its a pandemic song. They gave it to us so we can dance and celebrate things getting better. U felt the song i am glad. =0] Hugs. The dance crew is called The Lab and they won World Of Dance TV show competition. The girl in the middle that starts us of is Sienna Lalau she is the choreographer and her facial expressions are just amazing! She choreographed Dionysus (song) and Chicken Noodle Soup (JHope's song) both too. She was only 19yo when she did this. She has a YT channel as well. =0) U liked V black hair all in white and u asked about JK the youngest 25yo. He had the solo section. RM the leader is not Suga, lol. Hugs.

Boy With Luv - they realize that the truest love is their relationship with ARMY. (Halsey represents ARMY here. She wasn't expected to dance, but she decided she wanted to try).
Both choreographies end with them doing "I love you" in sign language.
Halsey got a sparkly mic from the guys as a gift because she loved theirs. In return she gave them pink tennis bracelets because they friends for life. She talks to RM all the time by text. They performed together in USA on an award show in May 2019. She is the only artist from the US who asked to learn their choreo. Their choreography is no joke. In the US its easy stuff. There are behind scene vids and interviews. Halsey will not let no one diss BTS. Hope u check out the behind the scenes videos. They all are so cute together. lol.

About the song it's very close to my heart and this is literally ARMY's happy song. Halsey represents ARMY here in the song. This song is basically a letter to ARMY. As the Korean title of this song suggests, “a poem for small things.” When asked to talk about the song, RM said, “It’s about finding little joy in love, being curious about the little things, the details like what you’re eating, what you’re doing. But, most importantly, Boy With Luv is like a fan letter from BTS to ARMY. That’s the most important thing.”
It is quite interesting to think about the shift from Boy In Luv (2014) to Boy With Luv - from a young, passionate, immature love that is represented with masculine, macho-like lyrics and visuals, to a mature, ‘true’ love that is about every small thing in life and in love that is represented with feminine, reflective lyrics that are more accepting and embracing.

It's also based on a quote by Martha Graham who was an important figure in the world of modern dance, "A dancer dies twice. Once when they stop dancing and this death is more painful." They've been doing this for a long time now and for some of them it's all they've ever done from a young age but realized music is their life. Jk and V the younger members had ur attention again. =0p This one has beautiful deep meaning of their lyrics. As you notice like lines " It would be my first death. That's what I'm afraid of ." It has that emotional theme of an artist fear for losing their passion for what they do. With this song BTS dives deep into their inner selves as artists and faces the shadows they had once hidden. The song lends voice to their fears that one day music will no longer be able to move or touch them. The very moment they come face to face with the ‘Black Swan’ within themselves, however, they are stricken with a paradoxical realization that music is all they have. It is a confession of an artist who has truly learned what music means to himself. It's also inspired from Martha Graham, who said “A dancer dies twice once when they stop dancing, and this first death is more painful.” Now with the band on a break from group work and focusing more on solo projects (solo albums). We know this was also a hint to us that they were struggling.

Did you notice the change from white suits to black? They are accepting their shadows and faults which they have to do to become whole and be able to hear their music muses again. Genius.

Mic Drop: It's a slap in the face for their haters by saying they're at a point where it doesn't matter what you say because your words don't matter anymore. It's also a flex song by pointing out how many trophies they have because at this point they'd need a U-Haul to get them all. Just for an example, in Korea there are weekly music shows by various stations and the winner gets a trophy. Dynamite has 36 (I think) award show wins and that's without any promotion on their end. Fun fact: Mic Drop was inspired by President Obama's mic drop when he left office.

No, they’re not all dancers, but their dance line is super solid. The two main dancers come from very different dance backgrounds (street dance vs contemporary), so they have a diverse arsenal.
I honestly think BTS are one of the most complete groups. What one member lacks is made up for by another. They complement each other perfectly.

BTS are amazing. They can do it all! They sing, dance, rap, write, produce, and they can play instruments too! And their personalities are so normal. They aren't perfect people but they are unique, while being themselves. It's nice to follow such goofy, cool, talented people.

You should have your closed captions on. BTS are all about their lyrics, message, and performance. They write their own music and produce. They are more than just their looks and dance skills. RM, J-Hope, and SUGA are the main songwriters of the group, but they all have experience writing and producing BTS music and their solo music. A couple things. One- always turn on closed captions, two, no need to cut up the videos, pausing is better. I think an introduction video would be a good idea at this point. You seem to be interested in continuing to check out their music. Here is the best Introduction out there. it might be a bit long, but BTS ARMY do not mind watching long videos with you. @@TotallyYas I just wanted to mention that almost every KPop-Video has subtitles. It is very important to turn them on for Stray Kids as well, since BTS and Stray Kids are both very involved in writing their lyrics and producing their songs so the lyrics really capture their group essence. :) And you don't need to cut the music videos, if you don't want to. Us KPop-Stans love long videos about our favorite groups and as long as you stick to the original MV's you shouldn't face copyright issues (live performances are a different thing though)

BTS took kpop and updated it. compared to other groups they write and produce their songs and they are allowed to write about what they want. social issue and mental health and stuff like that. army feels connected to them. and their songs are so different for the rest of kpop. black swan in particular they also have ballads, latin pop, edm and rock. each rap member has two solo albums apart from the group albums. and every member is loved by army. other kpop groups are more divided.
there is always a few members who gets all the attention, but not with bts here everyone is so talented and shine in their own way. and they love their fans. but i guess your friends can tell you everything about them hehe

To understand them I spent hours and hours on the internet to watch videos of BTS; to learn who the members are. Finally I recognize them. That is step one for me. Now I must concentrate on the songs so I know what they are talking about. Next year we'll try (3rd attempt) to go on a trip to Korea. There is also a BTS museum, my nieces told me.
