    I like this video. Not because of the project but because of the stretchy cast off with a crochet hook. I was looking for a stretchy cast off. I watch all your video's about knitting with a machine and learn a lot.

    I once made a monster tube pillow on an Addi and made the face on it similarly to how you used the scrap yarn to mark where the hole should be. Toys are very fun to make on machines, since they come out so nicely 😊

      Well, until then, you can hand knit or crochet one of these things easy enough! It's just a big tube!

    Margaret you were right about the bent needles. They work great for my loom knitting. They slide up the groove and right out the top of the loop without any hesitation. They work much better than the plastic one I have been using for years. I just wish they were a little longer.

      I'm so glad, Sherry! Don't you love it when you stumble upon a new technique that makes a big difference? I don't think I've ever seen any that were longer... maybe you should invent that make a million dollars?! 😉

    Very nice tutorial! I'm trying to branch out on my Addi & try new techniques. I didn't know how to add waste yarn in the middle of a tube. This is going to be a very helpful technique in many projects. Right now, I'm having a problem creating a knitted stretchy bind off on the 1x1 ribbing.

      Did you see this video where she shows how to do the stretchy bind off with 1x1 ribbing: ua-cam.com/video/_uE8DOk1nl4/v-deo.html (I always have to see somebody do it before I catch on!)

    So if we’re doing the crochet edge for the face opening, do we work it from the backside like you do on the bottom? Thanks so much!

    The gap happened because when you went to pick up the second set of right legs you went one extra stitch over on accident… great trick though!

    Thank you so much for this tutorial and referring me to it. What I keep wondering is can you begin circular knitting and then cast off some of the stitches and do straight knitting, then switch back to circular knitting adding stitches so that you end up with straight panels for a part and then complete the crown thereby giving you a bigger opening for the mouth.

    • @margaret.olander
      @margaret.olander  6 років тому +1

      I'm sure you can. It's a bit tedious to put it back on the machine but it can be done. You can see someone do it here: ua-cam.com/video/3WJXcp7dsF0/v-deo.html

    • @DavidNBerg
      @DavidNBerg 6 років тому

      Thank you Margaret. It does look tedious, but I would only be doing it with some of the stitches and not an entire row. Thank you for finding that video for me. You are most kind.
      I would love to discover how to make a cable detail in a cap, too, but have seen nothing in the Addi tutorials about how to do that. I would think it would have to be in short segments of knitting so that one would drop a stitch to make it a purl row, then reverse the two stitches on the Addi needles and then drop a stitch and make that into another purl row. Then knit a few stitches and then repeat dropping a stitch again to make it a purl row, reversing the next two stitches and knitting them, then dropping a stitch to work back a few rows to make it a purl stitch. It would be very tedious, but do you think it would work?

    • @margaret.olander
      @margaret.olander  6 років тому +1

      Hmmm.... you could try it! It's only yarn so you if it doesn't work, you just reuse the yarn and you haven't lost anything!

      I’m sorry but I can’t picture what you’re describing. You can find some really great help on the Facebook group called “Addi King Loomers and Knits.” Since you’re able to post pictures of your problem on Facebook, the helpful people over there will be better suited to give suggestions.

    Margaret, I enjoyed your video and I was wondering if you would tell me where you got the bent plastic darning needle? I have looked at a few places and only found the metal ones. I think the bent one you use would work well with my knitting loom.

      It came with my Addi but the metal ones work, too.

    Maybe it's an obvious question, but after you were done with the super stretchy bind off and you had sewn in both corners, you just removed the white? Did you pull em out or did you perhaps cut them with scissors? I am kind of new at knitting and i am just curious on how you removed the white after you were done with the bind off without maybe somehow ruining the bind off, hehe
    Anyways great video!!

    • @margaret.olander
      @margaret.olander  7 років тому +1

      Hi, Svanna! I pull it out when I can and cut it when I have to! When casting on with waste yarn, it's very tedious to remove stitch by stitch so I always cut that off but when wast yarn is applied at the end of a project or in this case, the middle, it will slide out easily when you pull. BUT sometimes you get a yarn that won't cooperate and just wants to hang on to the yarn around it... so much snipping is involved in that case! As long as you're careful to cut ONLY your waste yarn, you're bind off is safe!!

      Margaret Olander thanks for the reply, I think I may try it out 😁

      Welcome, Kathy, and don't watch too many of me in a row or I'll have to send you some Pepto Bismal. (My own voice gets on my nerves while editing. Ugh.) Yes, Erin's Etsy shop can be hard to find especially because there's another that has a similar name. Here's the exact link: www.etsy.com/shop/SouthPawCreation

      Hard to tell you in text but maybe this will give you an idea: ua-cam.com/video/LunupcBGVNY/v-deo.html It's an old video from 2015 before I knew how to knit very well... or edit very well, etc.!
