- We caught another swarm here at Barnyard bees this one was a little bit bigger than a soccer ball if you want to trick the bees into staying in the Box that you shook them in put in the center of the box a frame of brood, this will highly encourage the shaken swarm to stay in your new box. please like And subscribe to our videos please thank you
I had a swarm just the other day and put a frame of brood in with them and they are doing great! Thanks again for all you do for us and the bees!

They encouraged (learned together, it was really interesting and educational. Now I'm retired, I live in a retirement community, but I hope to get my kids interested in taking it up. Your vids are great keep them coming. Learning a lot watching your and fat bee mans Just started beekeeping May 14th.2017. Picked up two nucs. Had 5 swarm traps out and never thought I would catch even one. On the way home with the nucs I checked the traps and had three out of 5 with swarms in them. each were 18 inches tall and had 5frame in them. Now I'm letting them build the frame or comb to put in frames. They have been there 2 1/2 weeks. Just got the hives done for them.

Hey David, thanks for the video. I watched my 5 frame start swarming today, coolest thing ever to watch. Watched this video, then set up a 10 Frame deep, took a frame of blood from swarmed hive and put it in the new box. The coolest thing was its in my back yard and they landed on a chair in the yard, I left them get good and clustered up walked the chair over shook the bees in the new box put a feeder on and they stayed. Rain next couple days so hopefully they will stay put. Thanks again for all your information, so far it saved my swarm! Sorry so long but good testament to your advice!

If you had a rope and a pulley high in the tree to put a bait hive up there. What would be the chances of them going in on their own. Lower them down and send up a replacement box. Would this work? A high box and feet on the ground. Thanks for sharing your knowledge of bees.

Hi. That reassures me, because I added a frame of brood to a swarm I'd hived the day before and they have been very restless ever since. I thought the smell of the brood might be confusing the swarm which would normally be brood-less. The down side is the mites in that brood won't be killed off by oxalic vapourization, which is normally very effective in a brood-less hive.
that was amazing, like a roundup for bees. honey and bumble bees are my favorite insect with praying mantis coming in third - all three benefit mankind. gave you a thumb up for the great video. i do that for each one of your that i have watched,

Hello - I have a first year hive which started out all new foundation and nuc in June. On August 12 I observed 10,000 or so bees swarming in the air in a frenzy about 20 yards from the hive way above the treeline. 20 minutes later they all returned to the front of the hive and went inside. Have you heard of such a thing? Maybe the Queen didn't go with them? At the time there were 2 fullly drawn brood boxes and a new undrawn super in place for 2 weeks. (I have since added another super and put a new empty frame in the brood box but worry a swarm might be inevitable).
we had five swarms in the same persimmon tree this spring.

Leave it in your peach orchard. birds will peck the fruit and the bees get the nectar and they will make PEACH HONEY, its awesome good! i love all the different kinds of honey they make, besides CLOVER! blackberry, elderberry maple ect. MAPLE IS EXCELLENT TOO! .There protective over pecan trees for some reason? Working on it! HAPPY EASTER
Bees love my figs if they split, especially if they don't have to fight the wasps for them
Yep different kinds of honey is EXCELLENT. example of different kinds is like clover, peach, blackberry, mulberry, elderberry and yes orange trees YUM YUM YUM My grandpa did too! Feed busted open watermelons ect to his bees, there sugar in it

Have you ever done anything with Killer bees? Are they able to work with?
Many times I have heard you say you have gentle bees. Though many people seem to think otherwise, genetics has very little to do with the disposition of bees. the environment they are in, stress level, and strength of the colony all affect that.
where can I get a cut list for those Advantec nucs you made,all your equipment seems to be made without a single dado cut,that is very effective,,the time saved not having to change blades,,,,you should do a video series on how to make your equipment,,I would say that it would be a popular series
This is my 7th year in beekeeping and you'd think I'd know b now. My hive swarmed this past week and I witnessed. They landed on trunk of nearby tree and I wasn't able to get them. They stayed on for 1 day then I am pretty sure they went back into hive. I have never seen this. Then they swarmed again the next day and I watched a queen walk back into the hive. She was large so I don't think a virgin. I watched the swarm and it landed on tree up high and couldn't get. Is it possible they could come back again?

Like the vids...What happens when you cut the grass and weed eat? How close can you get with lawn equipment?
How are you doing this? You can walk up to any hive or swarm and just sit or stand and not being attacked. I am brand new to beekeeping. Started this year with one hive of Italian bees. I can literally just show up near my hive, about 8 to 10 feet from it, and just stand there absolutely without moving because I love watching them, and within few minutes I get stung every time. They always get my face too! I don’t understand it. What am I doing wrong? When I am inspecting hive I smoke them and they seemed to be better for us long smoke is there. When that’s gone? Several of them just trying to get to my face. It’s always my doggone face! There is no walking up to them without bee suit! There’s just no way at least for me. Do you have a video or can you make one to give me some pointers? I’m just tired of pulling stingers from my face.
There's no way....I could sit like that around a big swarm of bees. I am highly allergic to them...and...scared to death of them 🤣 Great work though.

I have a 10 frame brood box and 10 frame super. Do I need another brood box? Or can I just add a other super later on?
You've smoked in the bottom so they move upward !!... you should smoke on the top so they will move downward and march towards the entrance !...
If you get the queen in the box, won't the rest go in without smoking them? I tried to catch a swarm once by shaking them into an empty box, but they all flew back out, but discovered 2 or 3 queens in the swarm. Enjoy the videos, very helpful for sure. Thanks!
whats your thoughts on hives with screen bottoms?i was watching a video yesterday and noticed it then i checked out the hives at the farmstore they also have screen bottoms
there was a large bee going down the center of the white box at around 4:10 was that the queen or a drone. it was a little blurry and I am trying to train myself to recognize these things at a glance
After looking at it in higher definition from my computer, I realized that it is more than likely a drone.

Maybe I missed it but how did you get the queen into the lower box to entice the girls to march into it to begin with?
starting beekeeping this year, got a 10 frame box (with 1 old drawn frame) waiting for a swarm, also got 3 nuc's (1 with old comb) to set up at families houses, how hard is it to catch a swarm doing this, do they really need to be close to other hives, or will i maybe get some longer range scouts to bring a swarm? i am going to try lemongrass oil in the nuc's i dont have a drawn comb for. i live next door to a landscape nursery (constant flower blooms) so im hoping that will equal high yields of honey and maybe make catching a swarm easier?

I just finished assembling a NUC kit. I only have one hive right now that made it through winter. Do I need to paint the NUC a different color than the white hive I have now?
I've been thinking of using double nucs here so I won't have to lift a 10 frame hive body. The double NUCs share a common bottom board and box that is divided and the entrances are on opposite sides. They also cluster on the common wall during the winter to benefit from each clusters heat. Seems like a good idea and NUCs aren't as heavy.

The worker bees will follow the queen. If they are all moving into the hive, the queen has gone inside.

Lemongrass Oil is cheaper !
Swarm Commander has LG oil in it, plus other stuff...
Bees by far prefer well darkened Bees Wax and well used Bee Box !
Add a bit of LG on some Cotton Wool in a semi closed sandwich bag as well.... 🐝

I have both, but am going to try the Swarm Commander super lure--the plastic bee, simply because it last 90 days and I won't have to continue to check and reapply every 5-6 days with lemongrass. I'm grateful for you. Also probably going to buy some bees or most definitely queen from you.
I would like to keep bees I live in the middle of a 20 plus acre orchard my question is they spray this orchard all summer long will it affect bees?

I just got a swarm less than 72 hours ago. I just peeked in the hive and there are a whole bunch dead on the floor of the hive. Is this normal and should I be concerned? I put a shallow lid with sugar water in there to help them.

Get some lemon grass oil and sprinkle on the frames, bottom board, sides. They will stay. That's what I do and it works. Also works well if you are trying to lure a swarm to an empty nuc or hive.

I understand what you mean, it was alot of talk. You have to listen for 7 minutes or so until he finally says to put a single frame of brood from a donor hive in the middle of the nuc to encourage them to stay.
