Man Intentionally Hits Parking Enforcement Officer, Flees Police | San Diego

- 12.23.2021 | 12:15 PM | SAN DIEGO - A SD City Parking Enforcement Officer was driving his City Scooter and had stopped behind the suspect’s truck to check some license plates of parked vehicles.
The suspect in his red SUV panicked and thought he was going to get a ticket or towed and he was living in his vehicle.
He screamed for the City PEO to “Get the fuck out of my way”, and when the PEO didn’t move quick enough, the suspect purposely backed up and hit the Scooter, and fled.
SDPD Motor officers were nearby and saw the suspect fleeing down Island Ave and started to pursue him.
The pursuit made its way through City streets and then eastbound on Hwy 94 to Kelton Rd where the suspect exited.
The suspect then re-entered the freeway going westbound.
He then exited at 28th street and drove westbound on Broadway making his way back to downtown San Diego.
Officers successfully deployed a spike strip and the suspect stopped at 16th and Broadway.
He eventually surrendered to the officer and was taken into custody.
The City PEO was not injured.

I've trained police K-9s for years. This K-9 handler desperately needs some quality training because the control he has of that dog is basically zero.
This is a complete disgrace and so dangerous to the public.

It doesn't say the officer wasn't on the scooter. Infact the way I read it it says that they were "The officer did not move fast enough" to move they must be on the scooter.

The dog was putting his leash in his mouth and pulling, which is a HUGE no-no because dogs with that kind of jaw can chew through a tough leather leash or ANY soft leash in just a few seconds. I once rescued a German Shepherd mix who was a pro at that. It's a huge problem because you then can only put them on a chain, and if he tries it with a chain he will break his teeth, and then you have a $2k vet bill. But I also have a problem with the way he handled it -- I'm mostly against whipping a dog period, but you NEVER EVER do it with a dog's leash, especially while they are on it. That makes the dog not trust the owner, and will not want to be on a leash at all. Very stupid move.

california has the dumbest laws.one vehicle running from the police, with 12 police vehicles following.they could easily surround it & slowly bring it to a halt.but they just follow, allowing the fleeing vehicle to just go on his way, possibly injuring other motorist in the wreck that is too often inevitable.

@Jeanne K I don't know if you've ever worked with Malinois working dogs before but that is how they almost always are. They are extremely energetic and hyper. This one seemed to be a bit younger with the way it acted but was doing nothing out of the ordinary. They are very alpha dogs and it usually takes a while for a dog and its handler to bond properly. This was just one of those occasions. Handler was doing fine with a hyper dog. Would have done its job regardless.
