It's good to take inspiration from other good Christians but we shouldn't pause on our track and keep these individuals as the source of our faith in God. Instead by learning from their inspirational faith get connected to God personally and thus build a solid direct relationship with God.
If we do that we will not fumble when the Christians role models around us started to make mistakes.

The fact that a 16 yr old Muslim boy was used by God to bring Global attention (once again) to his Word & to someone who is practising it to 'Love one another' in my opinion, is evidence that God is always giving us an opportunity to reveal our hearts & our spiritual evolution.
