Wow, kudos for lifting those very difficult and FAST solos! Jan Ackerman is quite the wild man, didn’t realize how many open strings he was incorporating.
Sets speed to 0.25 Brilliant job sir!
By far and wide the very best tutorials ever, I have figured out some long and complicated lead solos but these are better than anything I could teach as they have tabs and they are slowed down also. I study these when I can't write anything (tunes) myself, this man is incredible.
There is no other word for this, but incredible.
Thanks for breaking down these highly sophisticated leads by Jan Akkerman in detail!
I have been searching for this for a while now … .
I've been wanting to learn these solos for ages! Thanks!
All cramped up now...thank you!
hes playing at the speed of the live perfomance 😂
This what I said automatically, but still super cool.little too fast vs originall recovered version, but no matter.remember this when me 7 years old listening in my dads 1957 Chevy bel air car an thought,THIS IS THE COOLEST STUFF I EVER HEARD !
P.s. plus,jan Akerman super underated
Super cool.i. sure u know this.actually whole band fucking cool.
Heck yes! Great song and excellent demo, thanks!
You should have WAY more subs bro! Your Alvin Lee video nails it and so does this one. Most guitarist/teachers online don’t have the swing and swagger and magic in their playing like you do! Keep making vids bro!
Thanks so much!!!
Can't believe there 7 thumbs down on this. Excellent playing you've nailed going to take me weeks to learn then much longer to try and nail it down.Thank s great guitar playing.
This is so cool!
We played the h-e-dbl.L outa that when we were kids ! LOL love that one . thanks!
It's just incredible in 1973 just great guitar tone
Excellent tutorial
this is next level!
Fantastic! Thanks
Outstanding
That's intense!
Ackerman was years ahead of all other rock guitarist at that time! He did even do a sweep in the live version which is on youtube.
Excellent work there. I'm currently working out the solos using GarageBand slowed by one third. So far, you've pretty much nailed it! Well done. Just one more solo for you to do. ;-)
How do you import music into GarageBand sir? And then presumably do you just decrease tempo in the project settings?
@@robertbower7461, there's a much easier way to slow down the playback speed these days on UA-cam. Just click on the 'cog' icon near the lower right corner of the vid window and the drop down menu will allow you to select playback speeds from 25%, 50%, 75%, normal and upwards if you wish. 🙂
Great demonstration and playing sir! Can you give me any tip on what scale(s) did he use for the leads?
It's called the Jan Akkerman Mode.
Great job!!! Solo Em Harmonic minor?
Good stuff thanks. Is this the original real shred solo? This goes back to 1970.
You’re a monster!
RiFFAGE❤
SMOKIN'!!!!!!
Incredible - I thought no one could copy Jan Akkerman.
Cold-blooded.
Still the one.
Thanks for this, there is a TAB on UGtabs but it's great to have a demo. It sounds better played a little slower and less rushed for the fingering, but thanks anyway...
blimey! were you on speed??
Excelent lesson, I know...
Nice sound!!! what kind of effect did you use??
Boss gt-01. More here. www.leadsolo.com/lead-solo-blog/what-effects-am-i-using
Hey did you delete your old solo cover video of this song with a bunch of views? That one was so awesome, even if it wasn't a lesson
I had it unlisted. It's back. Thanks for pointing that out!! ua-cam.com/video/IxybPLZRkWs/v-deo.html
Dude.. your tone in fucking awesome
the band "Heart" went by the name "Hocus Pocus" for a brief time.
Crazy
I love your videos, but I have one suggestion. Could you add a metronome track and tell us in what BPM you're playing when you're showing the slower parts? It would help a lot to say "the song is originally in 150bpm, but I'll be showing this session in 90bpm"
I love your videos and the passion you share for those guitar parts!!
Thanks for your comment. On these types I really couldn't do that because I'm just playing it at any speed I feel is observable. On actual slow motion videos I make I do say if it's 50% speed or whatever.. these videos are not really meant to be played along with but to be paused after each lick so it can be practiced. That is the best way I would see using them. Hope that helps. Thanks
cool! is there a tab for the solo? thanks a lot
FYI if you're interested... I learn solos by ear but write out the tab sometimes.... www.leadsolo.com/store/p131/How-to-play-Hocue-Pocus-by-Focus.html
nice work dude but would be good to hear the 3rd solo on the album version which is just as awesome as the first 2. Also check out his trademark lick that he does at the end of the House of the King solo and during Eruption (yeah there was another Eruption before Van Halen)
Great job on the solo. The only thing is the C and Bb should also be major 7th chords on the 1st go round. Great job!!
Thanks... But I am playing c major 7 and b flat major 7. These are just an alternate way to play those chords
@@LEADSOLO I learned something new. Thx!
lol ill just stick with the rhythm hahah thanks
Me to :)
Maybe a second and third video of the lead slower
Killer
jan Akkerman was insanely good.
02:24 The chord is actually x-7-6-7-8-8
Jan Akkerman still tours and has a UA-cam channel...🤙😎🤘... Check it out!!!..
Slow down speedy
Sorry but what’s up with the c major chord it’s screwing up my head
Slow it down!
A good video for a proffessional not a good video for a beginner. This goes way to fast and minimum explaining. A beginner does not know all the chords, so please explain where to put the fingers and what strings to strike.
I totally understand your point. The problem with these harder complicated solos is they almost need to be taught at a higher level. Because if I explained every note it would probably take about 10 hours of video.
Not a good teacher
