  • CDC grannom caddis is a highly effective caddis pattern that works great around the globe. Of course, it doesn't have to be just cdc grannom caddis, you can play with the colours of the body, hot spot (or egg sack). For some people it could be useful to put white CDC on the top of the natural one, just to improve visibility.
When it comes to fishing these flies, first observe what real insects are doing. If they are skating, you skate, if they are naturally drifting, just drift them.
Unlike bushy flies that can twist your tippet, this type of flies doesn't do it... so you can use thinner tippet if needed.
One tip... use extremely long tippets and watch how the dead drift improves with it....

Nice one Valdimir - like the legs! :-) Lots of small green and yellow bodied caddis around here - need to tie up a couple of these for the box. Cheers! Hank

Thank you Hank, i am still learning, hence the legs :). I guess we agree that tying videos need broader audience, so i am trying to improve anything I can. I am still struggling with narration, its not fluent as i would like it to be. But i need time for that. I hope that in recent future i will be able to afford decent camera, my phone needs to be too close to record, and it's in my way like that. But, for now this has to work :)
Glad to have you on the channel... :)

@@Oholisfliesandfishing So now I will be watching for a foam-eyed BOOBIE fly video from you LOL! No problem with your narration - you are coming through clearly with good explanations and the video quality is fine (especially since you are using a PHONE!). Check out some of the little "point and shoot" cameras as the have surprisingly good video capabilities (I have a Canon SX720HS that I am very pleased with). The (beautiful) professional videos (like what Tim Flagler of Tightline Productions makes) requires some VERY expensive specialized equipment. I just ordered a video recorder for my underwater camera - hope to get some footage of how fish react to flies and lures.

Very nice work!!! It’s about grannom season here.. Do you have a pattern for the emerger and or nymph?

@@Oholisfliesandfishing with the same body and dubbing as your dry pattern? Cuz when that hatch is on they usually don’t notice the dry they mostly eat the nymphs and emergers. It’s coming up, just looking for that updated secret pattern ya know!!

@@scottnock5241 emerger same body pattern.... But for nymph pheasant tail. Granoms in my country have brownish square shaped houses they build... Literally PT colour.... For pupa i have no idea about body colour. But i am pretty sure pt may work again... Just imitate how pupa behaves..... Shoots to the surface fast because of gas bubbles
