HOW TO BALANCE SEVERAL MASSES IN DIFFERENT PLANES

  • When several masses revolve in different planes, they may be transferred to a reference plane , which may be defined as the plane passing through a point on the axis of rotation and perpendicular to it. The effect of transferring a revolving mass (in single plane) to a reference plane is to cause a force of magnitude equal to the centrifugal force of the revolving mass to act in the reference plane, together with a couple of magnitude equal to the product of the force and the distance between the plane of rotation and the reference plane. Two conditions to be satisfied are
    The forces in the reference plane must balance, i.e.
    the resultant force must be zero.
    The couples about the reference plane must balance,
    i.e. the resultant couple must be zero

    How to draw mx and my in reference plane

    • @TECHCAD
      @TECHCAD  Рік тому +2

      Dear
      pls see the video at 12:50 for my in the reference diagram , the line is parallel to d'o'. and for mx the line is again parallel to dotted line irrespective of line lengths, as we are only concerned with angular displacement.
      hope it is clear now.

    Sir can you please explain why you don't draw direction arrows of both polygons. And also, angular position of masses direction arrows. This is what I don't understand in the book.

    • @TECHCAD
      @TECHCAD  Рік тому +1

      Dear
      As we draw the vector diagrams so direction is required in the both couple and force polygon diagrams. this is the reason arrows are required. i hope it is clear

      with the help of roller scale or set square take the line parallel to dotted line on force diagram (which represent the Mx) and draw the exactly parallel line on the space diagram as shown in the video. the length can be any.
