Without reading the comments “B” stands for BEST!!!
Oh wow! I was sure B was Leica. Thanks for the fair test Matteo. Kudos and keep safe.
Great for sharing Matteo!
I actually prefer the skin tones of the "B" camera.
It would be interesting to see both cameras with the same lens although I believe that's a more expensive tryout.
Thanks for sharing, be safe!
Cheers.
Very useful, thanks!
B all the way for me. It has that instant classic filmic look that got me hooked right away.
Oh wow, "A" had much more CA so I figured it would be the Canon FD but I was happily surprised! And the "B" image is my pick all the way; skin tones are much better, warmer with more reds.
A cam is sharper and better to work with in post. B cam is softer so some people think it has better skin, but that is because skin looks better softer. I'd choose A for post and editing because overall, it will produce a better result.
Hawaii RealMedia why is the post workflow faster on the sharper A image?
@@thomasmadden3080 The better the image, the easier it is to color grade it. If you want A cam to look like B cam, just add a little bit of blur to B cam and zoom in little.
God, I love these comparison videos from you Mateo. Not only is it cool to see the differences between the lenses/cameras - just looking at everyday things in such a cinematic way is the cherry on top
I loved A for the depth of field and the more cinematic feeling and B has better skintones imo and a warmer feel to it
I like both, but for these shots I prefer B. Color is more natural, especially skin tones and more contrast.
In this comparison, my initial reactions say the Leicas are a little sharper, but overral the image from the 4K isn’t that different than the 6K, to the normal eye. Different image crop + saturation / temperature and that’s it..
hard to pick. They're close. My initial reaction was that I prefer the B camera, but I can see B has more red on the shadow part of the skin. So I knew it was the P4K. Regardless which one I prefer, your images are stunning. Your LUT works wondrously.
I wonder why so many people prefer B. At least on my screen A has way better color, dr and is of course much sharper as well. Which is all to be expected from a superior sensor with a better lens and no sb.
I was sold on B. And it wasn’t what I expected! Interestingly, people seem to blindly prefer shots from my FD lenses too.
Yeah they are good lenses but the problem I have with them is that they completely wash out the sky most of the time and it looks white
@@matteobertoli maybe you can fix that making a vibrance layer that effects blue tones only (least saturated parts) :)
Matteo Bertoli Visuals interesting. I haven’t tried them with a Blackmagic camera either. I assume you converted the mount to EF?
So for a person who is buying a cinema camera for the first time, the P4k seems like its good enough. Ive been watching a bunch of your videos trying to decide between the 4k and 6k. I'm on a budget and I already have 3 FD lenses that I use on a Panny G7, that I can use with the 4k right away. And I'm coming from a G7 so any one of these cameras will be a huge step up.
Yeah Pocket 4K is good! Keep in mind to make fd usable you need a speedbooster and not just a regular adapter. So that’s 500$. I think 6K is way better and you can convert your FD to ef and use them without an adapter
What is the ID on the music?
You’ve got a very detailed description about the gear which is great, but I’m missing the music credits.
The FD has a more realistic colour rendering I think, but I like the armer colors too. Awesome content and thank you for sharing the great work Matteo!
I'm not usually a stickler for chromatic aberration that much but it was very distracting to me on the Leica Lens at 1:15. I prefer the general look of the Canon lenses as well. Great comparison. Thank you Matteo!
Would be better to compare two cameras with one lens or one camera with two lenses, but thanks for the test anyway.
The intent of this video was literally comparing two different systems. I already did a 4k vs 6k with the same lens
@@matteobertoli cool, will check other videos :)
Personally prefer A. Skin tones are a little less red and a little bit more "bronze" which I prefer when coloring.
Thank you for the test.
Both lenses are beautiful.
Leica has a little extra punch and filmic look. And cooler.
But FD has a price for the mass.
I love B
Wow! the 4k with the lens set up looked better in my opinion. way closer to a 35mm look and a depth of color that camera A didn't have. I was convinced it was the other way around.
Nice test Matteo but doesn't really show how the two cameras compare, more so how two different lens systems and focal lengths compare. If that's what you were going for great. Yes, the 24mm is on a Speedbooster but the rendering of the image still are more like a 24 and the 19mm, well is more like a 19 in terms of compression and depth of field. If that makes sense. I did notice the slightly higher DR and sharpness on the 6K but actually preferred the look of the 4K in a lot of the examples because of the slightly more "telephoto" look. Would still go for the 6K if I had to chose because of the lenses available and the higher resolution. Thanks for the content man!
Nicolas Waldvogel yes that was the intent. I already did a side by side with the same lenses ;)
You cant see much of a difference until they're side by side and even then its sometimes hard and if you say one is better it's only by a little bit more the time
Thought while A looked like the better camera, the lens on B looked better.
I use a nFD 24mm f2 and a nFD 50mm 1.4 for years on my Gh2/4/5s, so i got the look of the canon in quite a second. But after all those years, i'm a bit bored by the yellow canon look.😂 For me it is often not cinematic but just old 😜 But i know how much clients love this look 😅
Try the Ikea UV treatment : but be patient it's 1 or 2 month for one lens 24/24 & 7/7.
I sleep with my Ikea open : I'm "working" on a Konica 35-100 2.8. 1 month will be OK for this one. But it had 1 month of sun light 1 year ago. Not enough.
I like the more expensive one
I liked B more because of that natural color look.
A is also my fav. But RN I choose B.
I really want to see them both on the 4k with the leica on an R mount speed booster. The FDs looked ridiculously good in this test. I would be mad if I had a 6k and a super expensive lens and saw how much power can be gotten for so much less.
optimumfilms I mean this is just a test, in every day scenario my FD completely wash out the sky. You can’t tell here cause it was gray, but it’s ridiculous how badly they render the sky
Better colours on B (especially skin)
Better highlights on A
BUT, that's probably due to the speedbooster or lens differences.
Very cool shots nevertheless. Thank you.
I feel like the difference between the two is so minimal in those conditions. If the Leica and FD were compared in bright sunlight, the difference would be more pronounced when comparing the flare control. IMO that's where I think the Leica shines over the FD
Guys there are way too many variables to make a conclusion on the actual cameras. Two different lenses at two different focal lengths...one with booster one without.
In general I think the 6k CAMERA has the better more neutral image when the same lenses are used
A> i like the more natural smooth even and real skin tones.
B> Skintone is too Blotchy with yellow, green reddish tones all over her face.
A> wide shot of her leaning against the tree, if you look at her face line, Really bad chromatic aberrations.
Seriously Beautiful skintones on >A, As well as overall Accurate natural tonal range.
A> you can really see the "Blue" Chromatic Aberrations in the right side of the chrom ring on the red juicer. That's Unacceptable in HOLLYWeird.
Good realworld test.
Question, is the Canon >A
And the Leica >B?
Thanx for your efforts.
D.
I said no way after watching the video, prefering B more, then checking the description to find it’s the 4k. Wow! Okay, it’s a done deal! I’ll go with the much cheaper 4k! Nice comparison!
Glenn Upgraded it’s only a test. I worked a lot with 6k and 4k and I absolutely love the 6k and I think it’s a superior camera. I actually have another side by side online with the same lens and you can tell the 6K is better.
Matteo Bertoli Visuals that’s what I thought as well. I’ve seen your 4k and 6k videos as well. It’s just for this comparison. So do you think the fd is better than the leica or the lenses played a major role in the image quality between these two? The skin tone seems nicer and more subject separation on B. I feel like the A looks flatter than B on here. I don’t know, just my opinion. Can’t really go wrong with either camera.
Matteo Bertoli Visuals on test around 1:40 something though, A looks better. Has more pop. Both looks good!
Thanks, love those blind tests!
Very pretty model. Thought the Leica was beautiful.
I had assumed A to be 6K and B to be 4K , i pretty much got it by looking at the backlight shot in the Window. you 6k is pretty better in Back light situation.
how does the Leica 19mm Elmarit f/2.8 compare to the
Sigma 19mm f/2.8 DN Art lens?
fd B , more warmer
I preferd B in almost every shot aside from a few. But I usually throw 1/2 promist on my lenses anyway 😂 the Leica is absolutely sharper tho! BUT the speedbooster also takes away from the sharpness too?
Thanks for this!! Im deciding between both of these at the moment, i like the improved specs and dynamic range of the 6k but i honestly feel the 4k is more pleasing to the eye, looks better for making films that actually feel like films. Be an absolute legend and post a link to the uncompressed file for download so we can see this without the yt compression =) hahah
The 4K all the way especially if your work is mostly for online publication the 4k is best of both worlds, add a viltrox speedbooster "just don't go lower than F2" and it actually gives larger sensor size than the 6k, the 4k file sizes are easy to work with too.
Hey matteo. Have you ever use olympus pro series lenses on bmpcc 4k? and if you use, what do you think?
Surprise by this test as normally the 6k should have more detail than the 4k. It shows how much different lenses can make.
Bmpcc 4k is A and Bmpcc 6k is B. How do I know this? Simple: Camera A) The Canon FD image is evident 1:18 with enough chromatic aberration. B) The best skin tone and dynamic range is in B, which coincides with the manufacturer's specifications that the 6k has a better color and dynamic range than the 4k, this at 1:11 and 2:34 is very evident. Also the 4k image in (A) is somewhat distinctive like pulling a slight green tint.
bodacinema wrong of course 😂 read description first
@@matteobertoli or there is an error in the classification or an involuntary error in mentioning the cameras. It is very difficult for me to believe that Camera B is 4K even with a speedbooster in place, which increases the chromatic aberration in the FD. If 4k has better skin tones than 6k, then what's the point of spending twice as much? What is your perception? Which of the two do you like best in these examples?
Damn that engagement ring looks like it could knock someone out. How many carats is it?
I don't see a lot of difference in this comparison both cams are pretty good, for me only in portret scene and closeup the B cam was better.
B all day.
Dang! I see that double cartier bracelet 🤨
Thanks for filming this Matteo! In my opinion it's almost distracting how much better the 6K sensor is. The 4K seems to have a lot noise in some colors in daylight and of course that highlight roll-off is less pleasing. But I do like the color rendition of the FD lens better. Have you thought about doing a 6K + Leicas vs. 6K + CanonFD's with a regular adaptor? That would be really interesting! I haven't seen anyone try the FD's on the Pocket 6K, is there something I'm missing why that combo woudn't work...?
Tomi Stenqvist thanks man! I am guessing you can’t put FD on EF without some sort of problems. Not completely sure but that’s why nobody did it yet I guess
Matteo Bertoli Visuals You can put FD on EF but only by changing the physical mount on the lens. I have a set of EF converted FD lenses!
There you go
Cherokee Graham ahh ok. Cheers!
What speed booster did you use on the 4K?
i liked A - smoother falloff
Hi Matteo, my curiosity, what aperture did you use in both lenses?
I REALLY like your LUT, but there is a big problem with the saturated reds and at 3:18 it clear what is going. I'm struggling with this since last year and I didn't find a fix for this with your LUT.
I know, BMPCC4K has a weird problem with reds, but with the Buttery LUT the reds are getting even worse, the only fix was not to use your LUT when i have shots with saturated reds.
You only have a red clipping problem when you drastically underexpose the shots. But it’s not really the LUT it’s Blackmagic problem. Try to not underexpose when you have pure red in the shots. I only encounter the issue when the red object is in the blue/purple of false colors chart, which means no information. Once I open up the noise is gone. Can’t really see lots of noise here to be honest. Just a bit but I was at 3200 ISO which is incredibly noisy.
I was sure I had it but I got them backwards. I just thought that B was the 6K because I could see more individual hairs, but I guess I was wrong haha
Hello. I recently got the bmpcc 6k and notice my footage had alot of noise, even on daylight shots. Last night I updated to the new firmware update and notice my footage is alot cleaner now. Did you have any experience with this?
AMADEUZ Connected i do not, mine looks pretty clean, but they replaced my camera because it was so bad at some point!
@@matteobertoli ahh maybe I need to contact them because I dont want it to happen again. Thank you
i like B cam
Nice comparison. Just got some of your luts bro!
Aleksandar Kuraica amazing!!!
I like canon colors but Leica is better in this.More cinematic, sharper and more 3 dimensional.
To my eyes the Canon fd has a better 3d pop. Is hard to compare one is a 24 and the other one a 19.
B > A
Apples and Oranges....Love the FD...so for the time being, Oranges it is...🤣
Kamran Jawaid yeah keep in mind the Leica is the Elmarit not the Summicron. It would have been a totally different story :)
@@matteobertoli Agreed. Summicrons are in a totally different league.
@@matteobertoli May I ask if you are referring to the Cinema Summicron? On the R line there is no 19mm SUmmicron as far as I know - what Version is your 19mm?
@@matteobertoli the summicron is better?
I like cam B
Amazing!
A was the 6k. B was the 4K. The 6k has a little bit of a darker contrast on the skin tones.
Matteo was that all handheld??? 🤯
Angelos Psomopoulos yeah
Matteo Bertoli Visuals incredible!
B
Canon+4k DSLR look, leica+6k cinematic look, but is it the lens or the camera plays a role too?
Ma stai sempre in spiaggia o a bere vino ma non lavori mai?
10A = 1B. Lol Says It All. (hahaha)
