That is excellent sir! Especially for the 2nd end! I will make me some toggles out if FAT WOOD. That way in a pinch when the chips are down I can use the fatwood for fire starting if need be. MULTI USE TOGGLE! Lol 😂
first i am autistic and don't words things correctly so please take this as meant. THANK YOU for getting friend back into bushcraft. came across vid whilst browsing. he lost hand at wrist and been feeling sorry for himself as can't do as much. showed him your video, saw the interest in life come back into his eyes. we are heading out in couple of weeks and going to work out set ups he can use. but you have also inspired him to get on with life. so thank you.
I love video's that actually teach something new and useful. Thank you Robert for bringing this out, and thank you for sharing, Jim! This will soon be used in the Swiss Jura Mountains.
I thought the same thing as El Croc - secure the line with a boater’s cleat hitch. Thanks to Robert’s Bulgaria for the idea and you for sharing it. Fantastic system.
Hi Jim, thank s for sharing this, I am dyslexic and I can't tell you how much I struggle with knots. Thanks for the KISS ***Keeping>It> Stupid>Simple*** for me and others like me??)
WONDERFUL VIDEO JIM. Many people don't realize that a knot in their cordage weakens the cordage by 20 to 30 percent. I think Robert's Toggle combined with the standard rapid deployment ridgeline would be just about as good as it gets. ALSO everyone please remember if you want to make an educated guess at the recommended working load of a rope, it usually falls between 15% and 25% of the line’s tensile strength rating.
Saw your video a little while ago , l used your idea absolutely brilliant .being dyslexic I can never remember how to do knots ,works a treat .thank you
I used to have trouble with ridgelines and knots in general. This one is practically fool-proof unless one of your toggles splits. If you're concerned about that you can always carry a spare toggle stored on the ridgeline.
Awesome Presentation On Robert's Toggle, Thanks Jim , I Better Get Busy & Make A Few & Practice On This, Hoping You & Yours Are Enjoying Our Long Weekend, Stay Safe Friends ! ATB Ter & Mel God Bless
God bless you (and your wife too, of course!) We are both doing well up here and no one is sick. Saturday and Sunday were great as you can see by the video and pictures on Facebook. Today is raining again. But rain is a blessing from God, so we have to appreciate it 😍 Stay well buddy 🤠👍🏼
Thanks for the video! I like the toggle idea but I can see a number of uses for this device and have some pieces of ironwood perfectly suitable for the application. Thanks and thanks to Robert's Bulgaria!
Thanks for sharing. Awesome idea! For added confidence I think I'll try a boating cleat-hitch across the toggle-top to finish off - simpler than the half-hitches, maybe.
I used a piece of 2x4 , with a hole drilled through the side and then feed a cord through the 2x4 and wrapped the rope around the tree and then around the block for a step, back 25 years ago. Worked great
Yesss! A very good example of KISS ... keep it simple stupid. Very nicely presented, and absolutely fair sportsmen that you mentioned Robert 👍 This is exactly the right thing for people who have problems with knots or who are handicapped in some other way. With all the best from Grmania Jürgen
Much easier than tying knots when your hands are frozen or you don't know any knots...But still good to learn some. But I like this, thanks for sharing. 👍
One thing that might improve your toggle is that after you go around it once tying it off. you could lay a figure 8 lash on top of it for more locking / lashing power. You know like they use to lash boats to dock cleats. Still no knots, but a much secure lashing. Jm2c…. Hope it helps. Godspeed
Jim, this looks great, blackie Thomas just put one out showing a similar method where the wooden toggle has two seven notches cut instead of predrilling the holes…
@@suezaple4950 you can’t get rid of the ol’ Muskrat that easily 🤠👍🏼 I have another video being posted tomorrow. I just had to get this toggle video up because I promised Robert’s Bulgaria about a month ago then the crap with my hoop shelter happened.
This looks like an excellent technique. I've never seen it before. Thank you for sharing it! I'm going to have to try that out! Blessings from Arizona!!
Blessings to you too, Skeeter! This works surprisingly well. You don't need to put one on each end, I only did that for the benefit of the video. You could have a bowline at one end and a couple of prissicks in the middle.
Excellent. You presented it better than I did. 😉👍❤ Thank you for the shout out.
It’s a brilliant idea so it was my pleasure!
Sorry to alarm you so early in the morning!!
That's pretty good,.trust an old squaddie.
Good to see new stuff Jim.
Thank you for sharing this with the world. You're someone who uses his head for more than a hat rack!!
@@pmryam Many thanks.
The easiest best ridge line I’ve ever seen
Thanks muddy 🤠👍🏼

Im an Eagle Scout who forgets knots. Tragic. Im setting up all my lines with this toggle. Awesome!
Thanks for sharing this.

That’s wonderful Mick 🤠💕
The best Ridgeline I have seen in my life. Thank you very much for sharing.
@@tariqwaheedkhan5358 my pleasure 🤠👍🏼
...it's also a good system for....anyone. This is easily one of the quickest up and quickest down ridge-line methods I've seen to date.
I know several knots. But the simplicity of this is alluring. Just completed the one hole sticks. Now I have to go make two hole versions.
Brilliant alright 🤠
I GOT ONE ON MY RIDGELINE now.
maybe on guy lines as well ?
Sure, why not? 🤠👍🏼
Brilliant is right ! This is great !
Simple is almost always best. Thank you for showing this toggle to us, Jim. Stay safe and stay cool
Thanks Sean!
Very clever, thank you and thank you Robert!
This is an awsome bush trick. When you said “no knots” you meant it. Love this system.
Thanks. I’m glad you liked it.
Excellent toggle system. Thnx Muskrat and Robert's Bulgaria. Brilliant!
Yes, Robert's design is brilliant!
I love video's that actually teach something new and useful. Thank you Robert for bringing this out, and thank you for sharing, Jim! This will soon be used in the Swiss Jura Mountains.

Exactly!
This is a very well-made video. I will make the cleat next time I have the right material to hand. Thanks
Thanks for the video Jim, brilliant 👍
Thanks Jim , that's a great idea.
That's really great! Thanks so much for the heads up on the video!

Yes, I thought so too. Thanks for watching.
G'day Jim.
That was fantastic, thank Robert from me.
Great educational video.
All the best.

Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching!!
Just like a cleat on a boat, ingenious!
I made a few small versions for guy lines. They are excellent! Thank you for your contribution to our skill development.
This has got to be one of the most simple ways of setting up a ridge line. Thanks for sharing
You’re welcome!

Yes, a couple of Prussiks towards the middle would add a lot of functionality to it.
BTW I am headed to Robert's channel to learn from him too! Be well!!
Great use of Robert's toggle. Thanks.

Happy to help!
Awesome like that thanks for giving us a tip
Watched this on many channels but you're the best Jim.....tks.
flipping awesome!
Yes I think so!
Great video! I learned much. Thank you for posting.
This toggle technique is a good use of toggles to add to the other various toggle techniques that are useful to know.

Thanks for the video! I like the toggle idea but I can see a number of uses for this device and have some pieces of ironwood perfectly suitable for the application. Thanks and thanks to Robert's Bulgaria!
You could use it anywhere you’d use a trucker’s hitch. I’m going to keep one in the trunk of my car so I can securely tie down my trunk hood.
Thats a cool system! Thanks for sharing 👍
(I suck at knots, lol)
I like it. You’re an inspiration. Keep ‘em coming!
Thank you so much!

Yes the boat cleats might be simpler than the half-hitches for some people.

And just when I thought, I had the perfect ridge line 😅.
Outstanding 🤩🙏
Great trick
Thanks!!
Yes it is brilliant
Very good idea and very simple and affective 😊. Love it!
This is the best ridge line setup ever. Even if you know a hundred knots, in a stressful situation you need something as simple as possible.

Espetacular e simples.
Awesome demonstration Jim! I wish I would have known this one back when I was teaching knot work to Scouts!
Yes. It’s interesting how it pinches the cordage.
