I love how your feelings towards 3rd party Twitter apps are so different than some of the other older podcast hosts. Most notably, Twitter didn't invent the concept of using a blue bird as logo or even the word "Tweet". The official Twitter app was also acquired. Oh and also @ mentions and #hashtags weren't invented by Twitter themselves. That's why the death of 3rd party Twitter apps hit the community so hard.
I’m a medical student in the US. The exam that chatGPT passed was the USMLE STEP 1. Yea the exam is pass/fail and you need about a 60% to pass. It is incredibly hard to pass fyi. 60% seems low, but it’s incredibly difficult and NOT a guaranteed pass. It can dictate doctors careers. All this to say that chatGPT passing these exams is nothing to scoff at!
We should definitely think about the environmental impacts of just coming out of new models of products every month. Having every single company come out with a new car/phone/tv/bar of soap every time they make a tiny improvement only hurts our future
While I certainly understand and can sometimes agree with that point, most people aren't going to upgrade for a tiny improvement. For instance if Tesla adds a slightly better headlight design, 99.9999% of people aren't going to sell their Tesla to buy the new one because of that tiny update.
@@jeffreysmith4586 I get that people may not upgrade every time a new car comes out. But I was thinking that coming out with a new model once a month, even if no one buys it, compared to once a year for example will lead to more waste
@@mason4099 The car was going to be manufactured anyway, it's not like they're building because 1 person wants it. It was already being built. The tree was already cut down. The metal was already made. It was just sitting in a warehouse until Tesla bought it.
Not trying to be a downer but spend an hour researching the working of manufacturing and supply and demand.
@@mason4099 how’s there more waste? The cars/phones are going to be made either way. How’s it a waste to throw new features in them. Imagine Samsung releasing the S23 in February and by August they are putting a more efficient battery in it. What extra waste was there involved in that?

I’ve been so confused as to why people use Twitter. I’ve always said how absolutely horrendous the Twitter app is and how the experience is so convoluted with ads, threads upon threads upon threads and content from people who you don’t follow.
This makes sense now.
Y’all should discuss the tech in electric assist bicycles. Those are the future of individual mobility (especially for the majority of our daily trips that are less than 5 kilometers!)

I am totally in love with David rocking a Chromebook on the podcast! I daily-drove one for two years until I sold it to a friend. Honestly, many people don't need anything more.
What Andrew is talking about with Twitter using 3rd party app is that in 2011 Twitter bought TweetDeck and used the TweetDeck UI with Twitters own skin on it for their official desktop app for Windows and MacOS then in 2016 they killed the TweetDeck UI style app and made a much more simple desktop app that looks more like their website.
I study electrical engineering and used chatgpt during my (open-book) exams. It definitely helps narrow down answers to questions and you can take key words or ideas from it, but it rarely give you the correct answer at my level unfortunately. When given complex questions, often it'll say something fundamentally wrong like "inverse Fourier transform (IFT) transforms time domain to frequency domain". when it gets something wrong like IFT - that has such a clear cut definition - it makes you doubt every answer its given you. it's still honestly faster to just use ctrl+F on your lecture slides and google lol.
From a fellow weather nerd, I’ve been using Carrot for a long time and it only gets better and better. The customization options for your display are unparalleled.

Vanced is actually awesome.
1) Because UA-cam premium is not a thing everywhere, so Vanced is the only way to get an ad free experience, which doesn't work as well anymore since they shut down the API, but the big reason still to use it is for background play
2) Bro, you have to see how corrupt, exploitative, and down right disgusting the Ads are in rest of the world - all moderation efforts from these big ad tech companies are aimed towards western English speaking societies, over here in east, moderation is a fairy tail, reporting an ad takes 20 steps, try reporting an ad someday
3) Even if UA-cam premium becomes a thing, listen man, average income being around 200USD a month - a lot of people can't afford that. A lot of people don't know how to get vanced either. But for the people who want to get rid of malware ads - Vanced is the only option - till it works as it is dying right now.
So just a different perspective.
You can switch to ReVanced ;)

We use an M1 iMac on an arm in our kitchen. White bezels are PERFECT for it, and M1 is more than plenty for casual web browsing, and media playing over HomePods

I have been using chatGPT this semester for writing papers, and it can't write anything over 500 words. No matter how much information I give it, it can't write a proper full essay yet. But I did feed it my class book for one subject, and it answered everything on the quiz correctly, but it took me some time to feed it just one chapter.
If it can take more information at once, it will be amazing at taking classes with no essays for you.

I've been using Chat GPT to put in my work and ask if I met the requirements of the assignment. Sometimes I'll ask it to give me an example of an answer but what I submit generally doesn't match what Chat GPT puts out, it just gives me different ideas on how to answer and what might work.

Mutalk currently is in the state of having good sound reduction but bad sound quality. ppl are self implanting something like a lav mic into it to sound better, but consider the price, a lot of ppl are selling it straight after they recieve the pre-orders.
The Twitter problem with mentions Maqruez had might not be related to the app but to the phone or OS which he is using. That's the reason why I switched from premium Xiaomi phone to iPhone 14 Pro because apps on iPhone actually works how they supposed to do, meaning notifications/content are refreshed and are coming on time, on Xiaomi they were delayed or not coming at all.

Im my first class of the semester, my teacher said that GPT isn't really human because they could confidently tell a lie (as in inacurracy, not as in making a deliberate lie). I counterargued that, considering what we're seeing more and more, that makes it actually more human than the other way round.
I think we forgot to mention the absolutely INSANELY WEIRD mac mini pricing history. Imagine a hill, where the hight is the equivolent to the price. It might as well be driving up down a million mountains.

Actually, according to ChatGPT, David is correct that an apple tree from seed can take up to 15 years to grow. But in general, they do take 6-8 years.

Can you use things like spaces on third-party, Twitter apps, or when they were available?
The big issue with the steady improvements in the auto industry is going to be parts availability. If someone like Tesla changes a part mid-year on a vehicle, they may have issues getting an older part to fix a problem because the new part doesn't fit or work the same as the older one. It is better to have distinct model years where very little changes between cars built at the beginning vs the end of the "year". Turning cars into tech has more upside than down but making it harder to fix issues is a big down.

As for range, my dual motor does 250 miles with ease and consistently. As for a bigger battery, who has time to stop and charge for an hour. You can fill a semi truck with 600 gallons faster than that.
