I dont wanna risk it on my PC. game already runs like shit and I have a 4090, i9, 32gb of ram and on a 60hz 1080p monitor. I get 48 fps to 60. 48 in swamp area on the island.

Hope this opens some eyes, in both gamers and dev studios of the possibility's of VR in games. If a generic mod for Unreal Engine can do it, a dev studio do it on their own product.
Because it is nice for those who want to spend a lot of time on getting their favourite game in VR, but does it actually play properly? With controls? For sure you are lacking VR controls, which is one of the most fun things of VR. Lets face it, despite the enormous click bait title, a small fraction of those will actually be somewhat acceptable to play in VR.

VR functionality should be built in to these games on release, or as optional cheap DLC extras if they have to account for motion controls/redoing menu's etc. Hopefully people will start choosing which games to play/buy based on the VR compatibility rating and software companies wake up

Its so frustrating seeing all the videos stating 11000 games now are just playable in VR all of a sudden, when there not. So far something like 700 have been tested, with some working fine, others need a lot of altering in the mod, others run poorly and already a hand full do not work at all so if thats just from 700, then just using logic a chunk of 11000 either wont be worth the hassle or wont be playable at all. May aswel strap a graphics card to your face and say "omg i am now a PC!" Same logic everyone seems to be using with this 11000
This is crazy... I just played the Spyro Reignited trilogy on Quest 3, I even played Bloodstained ROTN in a Lucky's Tail-esque sidescroller style with a little bit of camera tweaking, all in true VR.. This is what I've been waiting for since 2016, not standalone gimmicks or social apps, THIS is what I always wanted VR to be.. Amazing
LOL! I was hoping, even though I know I'd be six kinds of seasick immediately, haha! Sadly, it doesn't work with SoT, likely because it's online multiplayer w/ some anticheat or other.
Windows kept deleting the exe for me identifying it as a threat. So, I had to make a folder, tell windows defender to exclude this folder, then extracted UEVR in there. Now it stopped deleting it.
This is pretty cool. I’ve tried 3 games so far and don’t really like it. I’ve tried Deliver Us the Moon, Deliver Mars, and Star Wars Jedi Fallen Orders. The Deliver games work ok but don’t have any hand tracking. Jedi Fallen Order is unplayable. It’s like having two different screens per eye and can’t see anything. I tried the the uploaded setting but didn’t help. Hopefully the other games work better
Yeah, as firing_pin9971 says, if you adjust the settings right you can achieve first person from 3rd person games & configure games for 3DoF and 6DoF. Doesn't work "out of the box" like that, but the options are there & work fine if you put in a little bit of effort. Hell, you can convert to simple 3DoF in a matter of minutes with little trouble.
VorpX was already able to convert any first person game in perfect VR (or nearly perfect depending on games) VR, and most TPS in a really decent experience. VorpX is a lot more optimized than UEVR, so UEVR is only useful for 6dof playing. It could add G3D in some DX12 games but no graphic cards could handle it, so VorpX is still the winner in 2024 (for a while...) The only thing you need to know is : don't forget to raise game FOV and resolution (because it's what a native VR game does, and it's the way to get the same experience in VorpX).

But talk about bad timing: influencers and reporters are all on holiday, away from their homes and PC setup, or rightfully partying on NYE and sleeping in on NYD. Should make a comunity were ppl that find the best settings for games and they save they settings so it narrows it down ..a rattings system or something along thoes lines..i know everybody likes diffrent ones but be good for beginers than counld tweak from there . Great work to get it to this stage 👌
@@chrisritchie3923 thats number is only possible including UE3 games, which UEVR does not support. Its an error. Google how many UE4 games there are, its just over 1,000, with a few unreal 5 it makes about 1,100.

This could kill Unity which has been the preferred platform for VR for a long time now. Oh its not from Unreal. Could be a trojan as well then?
Arma 3 works well in VorpX, as far as I know. So it exists in VR since a really long time. You just didn't know it. You would need a future graphic cards to play to this kind of games with UEVR, because it's not well optimized. You'll get better results with VorpX. The only purposes of UEVR is G3D in DX12 games, and 6dof support.
This seems too good to be true. Just based on how these types of mods work, I dont think they could do this. 6DOF tracking with motion controllers are not implicity programmed into flatscreen games and an injector will have a hard time taking control of player models across all games. Hogwarts seems to be the most likely scenario and people who follow Cyberpunk 2077 VR mods know exactly what I'm talking about.
It might *seem* too good to be true, but it's true. Works marvelously & isn't overly difficult to setup for 3DoF / 6DoF. Takes some tinkering, for sure, but it's worth it.
It exposes certain hooks and allows you to "overwrite" them. Like attaching the gun object to the motion contriller. But it's easier with some games vs others. Like sometimes the aim will move along with the obejct, other times you'd have to attach it separately. But it can't turn a melee weapon into how you'd expect in VR (because the game still expects a button press). As far as the camera, you can attach it to a bunch of things, the most common if course being the player object/pawn. It's a standard in unreal engine games, that's why it works in most games.

It's modifying what you're doing on the fly, a behaviour which viruses and trojans also use - but the difference is in this case you're specifically looking to do so rather than having it sneak it :p You do need to trust creators of apps like this and give them exemptions - it's just how they work.

Money, effort and because people will complain it doesn't run smootly on their 1650s and call the game unoptimized Seems sad, but we need to wait until mainstream technology catches up for them to consider it

What I dont get is How to open the game , when I turn on my VR and its at the main menu I link my Pc to it , then do I set it up, or do I put my Steam VR on then do on the Pc to load a game??
They got a lot of praise for the VR version of the first game, so I hope they'll stick with it. Still, as you say, now it doesn't even have to be a concern.
Why wouldn't you expect Windows to think it's a virus. That's normal. It doesn't mean there is an actual virus. This thing isn't made my Steam, and you're not meant to be doing this to normal games, hence the pop-up 'virus' warning.
@@_Althena It's homebrew software so Windows throws a hissy fit, doesn't mean it's a virus, just a warning. The project is full open source and completely safe. Don't believe me, go check the code yourself.
This is brillant. I've only had my Quest for like 4 days and still learning. I am old and not the least bit tech savy, so someone have pity on me. Anyway, how do you get it to connect to the quest headset? Virtual Desktop? It's what I use for Half life Alyx. You said not to use steam link? Any help for a noob would be appreciated.
virtual desktop is fine, I set it to auto on the open xr open vr setting on the streamer, then I use open xr on the UEVR mod, open the mod as administrator, if it doesnt recognize the game close the mod and open it again with the game that you wanna play already running and it should show up now then just click on inject, it will take a couple seconds to open in vr, but before you try any game, first set the game settings to low and work your way up to the best setting with less lag, I have a 2080 super and a r5600x and i had to lower the vr resolution to 2300×2300
I don't think it's possible. I Can be wrong but i think VR was set in unreal engine in the fourth version of engine. I don't think that Can work. but again i can be wrong.
Nice. This makes sense why steam release stream link. I love it, but the vr game list is basically nothing. Now with this. I’m sure they will enable it.
You can not only alter it to be first person, but you *should* be able to tweak it to use full motion controls too. I haven't tried it yet, but it's on my short list of things to test. Best of luck!
If it was made with Unreal Engine 4.08 or later, it's highly likely. I wasn't able to find precisely which version with a quick glance, but I do see it was made with some version of UE4 or another, so it's certainly worth trying out. Best of luck!

Yeah, Windows Defender gets a bit pissy about homebrew software like this so you'll need to make some adjustments on your end to get it to work (I just told it "Run Anyway" and went from there). It's safe.

Like he said, if you're seeing two different things, try seqential instead of native rendering.

Normal, probably the lack of HTTPS vs only using HTTP, the "S" is more secure usually.

windows defender identified the mod as a trojan virus and deleted it right away, also praydog happens to be a real hacker.@@Eunostos

Been trying for an hour now to get Scum going, no games show in the dropdown, even when running as admin, this doesn't work.

@@MetalDeathHeadIt's an "injector", like it says it is. It's modifying what you're doing on the fly, a behaviour which viruses and trojans also use - but the difference is in this case you're specifically looking to do so rather than having it sneak it :p
You do need to trust creators of apps like this and give them exemptions - it's just how they work.

Vorpx works without issue, this doesn't work, games never show in the dropdown, admin or not.
Well, now we need a comparison with VorpX.
This is real native stereoscopic 3D, VorpX can't compete.

What I dont get is How to open the game , when I turn on my VR and its at the main menu I link my Pc to it , then do I set it up, or do I put my Steam VR on then do on the Pc to load a game??
tried it for an hour now. doesnt inject on the game high on life. but it should work perferctly. uevr doesnt find openxr and also not openvr

Why wouldn't you expect Windows to think it's a virus. That's normal. It doesn't mean there is an actual virus. This thing isn't made my Steam, and you're not meant to be doing this to normal games, hence the pop-up 'virus' warning.
even if you allow it under more options it does not finish the download because of virus detection in win11

@@_Althena It's homebrew software so Windows throws a hissy fit, doesn't mean it's a virus, just a warning. The project is full open source and completely safe. Don't believe me, go check the code yourself.

This is brillant. I've only had my Quest for like 4 days and still learning. I am old and not the least bit tech savy, so someone have pity on me. Anyway, how do you get it to connect to the quest headset? Virtual Desktop? It's what I use for Half life Alyx. You said not to use steam link? Any help for a noob would be appreciated.
virtual desktop is fine, I set it to auto on the open xr open vr setting on the streamer, then I use open xr on the UEVR mod, open the mod as administrator, if it doesnt recognize the game close the mod and open it again with the game that you wanna play already running and it should show up now then just click on inject, it will take a couple seconds to open in vr, but before you try any game, first set the game settings to low and work your way up to the best setting with less lag, I have a 2080 super and a r5600x and i had to lower the vr resolution to 2300×2300
some games work on native stereo others on synchronized sequential so you gotta check the list of tested games and what mode they use.

I don't think it's possible. I Can be wrong but i think VR was set in unreal engine in the fourth version of engine. I don't think that Can work. but again i can be wrong.
It won't work with BioShock. UEVR runs Unreal Engine from 4.8 up to 5.3

You can not only alter it to be first person, but you *should* be able to tweak it to use full motion controls too. I haven't tried it yet, but it's on my short list of things to test. Best of luck!

If it was made with Unreal Engine 4.08 or later, it's highly likely. I wasn't able to find precisely which version with a quick glance, but I do see it was made with some version of UE4 or another, so it's certainly worth trying out. Best of luck!

You need to have it by pass the firewall. It also sounds like you have a cheap PC so I wouldn't recommend running this mod.
Yeah, Windows Defender gets a bit pissy about homebrew software like this so you'll need to make some adjustments on your end to get it to work (I just told it "Run Anyway" and went from there). It's safe.
