  • Hotel "Punta del Rey" (4 star ) The area is quiet and relaxed. The closest beach is rocks and volcanic pebbles but there is a black sand beach close by.

Just back from 10 days there with my family and loved it. So much so, that we're going back next year! Looks like you were there just a few weeks before us.

@@anthonysimms8359 Here are a few off the top of my head:
      At the hotel:
      > In the dining hall try and get seated around the back of the hot grill (to the left as you go in) as it's much quieter.
      > The staff are really lovely, but put a smile on their face using por favor (please) and gracias (thank you).
      > Don't take towels for the sun loungers, hire them from reception. You simply pay a 13 Euro deposit and you can change them over for fresh ones when damp. You get your money back when you return them. This saves on luggage space.
      > There are safes in the rooms. From my experience, there are two types - digital and key operated. There's a daily fee of 3 Euros plus a deposit that you get back when you return the key.
      > Avoid 7-8pm for dinner as that's the peak time and you will queue. We headed down for the start of service at 6:30.
      > The bars can get busy so get two drinks at a time.
      > They have one type of larger
      > The spirits are off-brand despite them lining up the brand names on the shelves at the back of the bar
      > If you go to the 11pm-2am disco the drinks are NOT part of the all-inclusive and you will pay. But at least you get branded spirits.
      > In the pool and snack bars, the soft drinks are self-service, so don't join the queue if that's all you need.
      > Bacardi and blue slushie are far nicer than you might imagine.
      > There is WiFi throughout the hotel but despite having an access point directly outside our room it was sometimes a bit patchy but that was likely peak times.
      > Go spend time sitting by the turtle pool and watching them - it's very relaxing.
      > The entertainers work damned hard, join in with one or two of their games and have a good time.
      > There's usually entertainment in the pool bar and then later always something in the show bar.
      Outside the hotel:
      >There's not a huge amount to do in Las Caletillas itself but there is a pharmacy and a Mercadona supermarket 5-10 minutes walk up the hill (left out the front of the hotel).
      >If looking for a beach many will point you south toward Candelaria, and it is a nice beach and only 20 minutes walk. But, go left from the hotel and down towards the sea and find Play de Cho Vito as that is really nice and there's are clean toilets too.
      > Cancelaria is really nice. It's a good half hours walks to get to the town. There's local shops, the Basilica de Nuestra Senora de Candelaria and that's beautiful. Wander the streets and getup high for an amazing view.
      > If walking to Candelaria head south (right) out of the hotel. Got left at the mini roundabout then there's a fork in the road: left and you go along a lovely plan lined avenue alonge the beach front, right and you can use the lovely central island between the traffic lanes. The latter means you can get to the Central Comericial Punta Larga shopping centre.
      > There is car white in the hotel lobby and a place over the road too. We didn't fire a car so can't comment.
      > The Titsa bus service is very good. A guide for fares is hotel (Las Caletillas) to Candelaria (one way) is 1.45 Euros. Hotel to Santa Cruz was 1.85 Euros (one way).
      > We visite Loro Parque zoon over in Puerto de la Cruz and it's well worth the day out. We booked via out Tui agent but wanted to go a day they didn't do the coach transfer so we went by taxi and it cost 55 Euros each way (this was for 8 of us in a large taxi and work out not much more that going on the Titsa bus service and far less hassle).
