Why am I only realising this now. I feel so dumb. I've listen to this song so many many times and yet I only realise now I was completely oblivious to the fact that Bo is talking about his younger self in the song, his past videos of him just making comedic songs, just him and his keyboard all inside his room. I just thought the song was about boredom and depression but no, it was so much more than that. Years of stand up and fame now all reduced to him returning to his room again. "Look who's inside again" translates into him now talking about his present self and maybe going back to the sketch board or hitting rock bottom. I don't know, it's hard to interpret but there's something in me that understands.
yeah, putting it into words like that gave me chills.
He went from being a kid stuck, alone, in a room to becoming famous. Going on stage, performing for huge audiences. Achieving his wildest dreams. Only to return to being alone in a room. Stuck. "Look who's inside again"
That and he literally can't disengage from the audience. There's always some "audience" as both a performer and person in general.
As a kid, he was stuck inside unwillingly. Peforming as an effort to reach out and leave that "inside". Became a comedian, musician, peformance artist, vocalist, and you could definitely call a lot of what he does theater. He got what he wanted; he was, willingly, outside.
He eventually developed panic attacks during performances, terrified his audience wasn't enjoying themselves. At his own discretion, he realized he could head "inside" again, out of the limelight. Willingly disengage for the sake of his health and work elsewhere, keeping his foot in the door. People kept nagging and asking where he was, but, they couldn't yank him back "outside".
Finally, he decided enough was enough, and he wanted to try going "outside" again. Willingly, he tried to leave that room. Then the pandemic hit. Suddenly, he's stuck "inside" again. Against his will. Trapped, albeit more literally, just like he was as a kid, unable to leave.
But, eventually, he realizes as an artist that's gained traction, he's no longer allowed the privilege of going inside. He's stuck outside. And if he tries his very best to hide, he'll be laid bare, door locked behind him, the audience mocking him as he tries to take control back. Press, social media, paparazzi, stalkers, snoops, they have the keys. On a far vaster scale, intelligence agencies and branches of government hold OUR keys.
None of us are in control anymore. There's always a camera pointed our direction. And no matter how hard we try to leave our audience, whether it's Bo's camera/crowd allegory, or nosy online detectives, we can't. They have the reigns now. Performers have no control over who attends.

@@tvre0 More audio over less visuals, like smaller clips. I have to agree, the thing that's stopping this from being a great trailer is how much footage it showed, but it's still a great tribute.

This is awesome! Though I do have a recommendation to make it better. When he says he isn’t well, you can barely hear it because of the music. Other than that it is incredibly well made!
i appreciate the feedback :) i intentionally left it quiet tho because the "well" from the chorus takes over from there. although, i do feel like i couldve mixed the whole thing better but eh, you live you learn. i also realized some cuts between shots look awkward cuz the zooms arent the same. one would be zooming in, the next would be zooming out lol. but thanks to that, i avoided the same issue when i made an edit of a clockwork orange. this is getting a bit too long, i'll end it here by saying thanks again!

i cried to this song a lot and pretty much before school starts in 2022
tbh, it wasnt really the best year for me even if things were back to "normal" again. it just felt odd for me since i suddenly got hit with the realization that im gonna be forced to grow up
i used to be a kid who was stuck in their own room and honestly, it sucks that i miss wanting to be inside a lot. my mental health has been decreasing lately since school is punching me in the guts but i guess ill try to stay strong for a bit
