We are still not perfect enough (though we try hard to be) and made a terrible mistake in the credits inside the video. The bassist in this performance is Mike Pope.
At 70 years old, Al is still world class and top of his game. He will always remain one of the all time greats on guitar and a one of a kind true inspiration. He's a class act and it was an honor meeting him.
Not that I could ever play like DiMeola, but I do want to say that it's not age itself that slows you down, it's the things that come with age like arthritis, dementia, hi-blood pressure, strokes, etc. that slow you down. If you're very lucky as you get older and have avoided these things you can still perform. Glad to see Al Dimeola looks healthy and is still giving these great performances.
One of the best musicans in the world! And someone like you and me. I met him once a time in Minden gernany. He is a great person ilove his precision and kind he gives us the tones thru his les Paul. Thank you for all this years Al !
So glad to see Al playing again after his recent health scare . Meet him on several occasions after shows to have CD signed (new & old..) or just to chat with & always a pleasure! Great when able to catch him when he plays at a small venue.
this is genuinely the first time I listen to Al Di Meola. ..(I only knew his name from guitar magazines) and I gotta say : the man is .. like definitely not boring. actually quite a good! musician and player. I like what I hear. ...
Maestro thanks for the beautiful music i discovered you in 1989 due to guitar player mags and my father who checked out from the library friday night in san Fransisco, and i been a fan since 1989 ish !
I can't stop listening to this live version of "Ava's Dance In The Moonlight". So much of Al's music is built around his guitar riffs, but in this piece his playing compliments the beautiful melody. He plays tastefully and with fire but it is the melody that stays in the heart.
Fantastic picture and sound! Hopefully the whole show was filmed and the rest gets posted. Al is in fine form and his band is tight, I'm so impressed to see him playing as skillfully and as effortlessly as ever after 50 years
Al de mola your guitar skills are the best in Mexico 🇲🇽 Spain 🇪🇸 and all a round the world keep the music 🎶 flowing and alive for the fans ❤ and people be careful con est virus okay 👌
When i first saw RTF in 74 Al was 18 or 19 & his personality seemed rather stiff & very serious but these days, he's a joy to still watch & listen to plus his sense of humor is where it should be & he's having fun while still playing these insane runs and fine music. Still one of the guitar worlds greats. After watching his interview with Rick Beato he's way more laid back & one smart guy besides his awesome skills. When he puts a band together it's always this good.
There was a song by Al back around 1976 or 77, iirc. Cant rememeber it now. But that was the last time I heard anything by him. Now this video is in my reccomendations, and I love it!
I grew up with this music, unfortunately you hardly hear anything comparable today. Not technically, much less musically. The 1970's really had been an awesome time, concerning musically breaking the rules and creating a lot of new things. This I miss a lot today, although every student has access to tons of good sounds, from which we could only dream in the 1970's. But the musical and ideological ideas behind are missing, so they all only sound the same and play the same, apart from some exceptions. Also great, than Al Di Meola used his original Les Paul here and not his PRS, they simply do not sound the same. But this one always will be my all time favorite from him: ua-cam.com/video/rosM_V5WFz4/v-deo.html Absolute technical perfection combined with musical uniqueness for me.
Flight over Rio is one of my first experiences of Al Di Meola, many years ago. Still one of my favorites😍 Avas dance is soooo beautiful, reminds me of good ol Steve Hackets Genesis. These musicians................Lost for words.
When i played the " electric rendevaux" on vinyl, the woman i loved this times who's been my wife and gave me 3 wunderfull children (she disapear in the late 90....) what t.f. do you play so much this record? I ask ,why?? Anwers... I cant understand his notes and speed of sequences !! I love him since 1977. and hope he feels his self well.

Great to see Gumbi part of the latest configuration.
In fact Mike was a great replacement!
All bro, you corrected it asap, no one be perfect. Thanks for the post.
you did AWESOME.!!
I love that Al's guitar sounds like a guitar, not saturated with effects!
Great artist!❤

I'm glad someone finally uploaded an actual good mix of these new Di Meola concerts. Sounds great.

After five decades, Al still completely melts my mind!
Love to see my man electrified!
With a really good band!
It's just beautiful
Too bad he had to deal with that spot

Dimeola at his greatest.
Gumbi!! An inspiration!!! Boundless energy! Deep knowledge! Hands of gold but hard as iron!! Fun to watch even better to listen.

Sounds like from the cd *kiss my axe* 1st tune and there after shreading his axe and past tunes sounds good still has the FIRE😊
Flight Over Rio starting riff is legendary and so powerful!

This is great MUSIC!!!
Man those guitar riffs are a fire hazard! 🔥🔥🔥
Good music!
Soaring through a dream. ♥
This is a very beautiful comparison!
Thanks for this video
Great timing and feel. Amazing! Great band!
Totally cool
Aw....... Always the best music!!
As usually in case of DiMeola: highest quality guaranteed.
First time to hear Al was in the 1974 album of Return to Forever with Chick Corea. Age has made his playing taste like vintage wine.
Al still fantastic 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Awesome guitar he's playing! He makes the music speak to the audience. So cool!
He is actually better with age ! No mistake 😂: deeper ! 🥳🤗👌🎼
Just amazing! - wonderful - thank you.
😊Bravo. I Like it🎉

Elegant gypsy, most likely... His best ....
Everyone sounds great, but holy cow that guitar tone is amazing.
The Guru 👍 Ma Aldi

Love you, Al.
I am sure our big brother, Mike, is smiling down on us.

Great post!! ❤ Thank you! I saw Al Di Meola following the release of 'Casino' (1978), & again after the release of 'Consequence of Chaos'. 👍🍻🎶
Superbe interprétation de guitare emblématique de haute voltige ✋️ 😅
Gonna go broke with hair dye bills. Lmao. Great tone here. Inspiring again.
元気な姿が見れてとてもうれしいです
Awesome!!! Thanks for sharing this with all of us!!!
If we practice and play as long as Al, we’ll be as good as him.
If you practice hard you might be able to express your heart, but probably not.
It's a joke
I highly doubt it
Super session, really great👍 Thanks for share.
The original numbers played original! Fantastic virtuoso! ♨️♨️
Amazing Al and band woooooooooooooow!!!!!!
Quel prodige.
Tout est à la perfection. à la note près. Le ryhme, les temps, les musiciens ...
Incroyable.

You’re so welcome 😎
@@VictorVoytovDi Meola one great musician. The origin Italy 👌👌💪💪
Et et plus parmi les plus belles partitions d'Al Di Meola.
I first heard him with RTF, and couldn't wait for a solo offering.
❤
Return to forever 🥰🫶🎸
Shirt looks 😍😍😍😍on Al.
Just saw the cover story on Guitar Player. Had no idea about his health issue! Great to see him back and going strong!
Fantastic
Awesome with Phillipe there !
Correct: Return to forever!!!!
So good man!!!
17:15 Ava, she is the daughter of Al Di Meola, took seat on floor of the stage in the last song... It was a great concert.
Al Dimeola joue plus vite que son ombre ....!
Le Lucky Luke de la guitare alors!!! 👍👍👍🤣

It seems that AL DI MEOLA has came back to his origin.
Al is a all timer. Just let it rip!!....I love him in GO.
That kicked @## ☕🎸
Literally *the* souped up Les Paul he used with Return to Forwver and his early solo albums
Dimazio Super Distortion が搭載されたギターですね。
彼がこのギターを弾くのを再び見れるとは思わなかったです。
👍👍👌

What a wonderful wig.
Al dime hola!
How old is he?? His look got never changed!
Rick Beato did a great interview with Al
👍
超絶早引きのディメオラ。
Only him, nobody else if the musicians matters for the camera or else.
MUSICAL MONSTER
Il fait du Santana maintenant 😂😂😂
That looks like Mike Pope on bass…
Indeed
YESSIR!!!!
☆🫵"AL"🤙("Les Paul").☆
Get the bass player's name RIGHT. It's MIKE POPE. He deserves better than that,. Great bassist.
Do i hear a bit of a Santana tone/vibe?
I prefer the clean guitar sound of Steve Howe. Big Gibson L5 semi- acoustic jazz guitar.
If santana plays jazz.
Very similar tone
Santana couldn't wipe Al's balls sweat if he tried.
@@chrisl2466 Of course, but i think the same spirit 's here.
@@chrisl2466Both guitarists are great and were pioneers of their styles. No need to insult anyone.
Couldn't agree more w the 'Santana' analog!!! 💓
Return to Return to Forever without Chick ...
