I mean, Tails? He's really just a little kid. He looks up to Sonic, he wants to be his best friend. Tails is trying so hard to be a hero too, and to gain that same trust from the people. What with him being so different, he's just not as... beloved, I suppose, but we need to let him have his own voice. He has just as much potential as Sonic, and we've seen him use that potential so well. (Sonic Adventure 1 mainly) While he'll never be quite as iconic as his best friend, Tails is more than just a sidekick, he's a true hero with all the strength and skill to save the world just as well as any of his friends. May you always fly high, Tails. You are a true hero at heart.

I feel you. I'm 22 writing this and man it really does feel like a life time ago when me and my best friend Miranda would play this game together while our parents did Bible study. I guess it makes sense to feel that way though as the time that's passed since we knew each other is greater than the time we'd been alive when we last spent time together. I love being 20 though so it's a weird feeling I can deal with. Seriously I got to play a few dozen games between the Gcn and Wii days including mostly rentals I didn't get to finish so being able to get all these games I missed out on since 18 when I started working has just been awesome especially with the Wii where even a lot of good games are still cheap new

i listened to this song for hours at a time every goddamn day when i was about 7 or 8. tails has been a big comfort character for me since i first got into sonic, and looking back now, i see why - he's different from everyone around him, a little shy and withdrawn, struggles to make friends outside a small circle, and prefers to focus on the things he's interested in rather than the people surrounding him. as an autistic kid with like two friends maximum at any given time, that was [and honestly still is] the dictionary definition of my entire life. but instead of being sidelined as a joke character like so many of the introverted, 'weird' characters i had wanted to relate to, his traits were seen as nothing to be ashamed of. at worst they were a struggle he could overcome if he tried, and at best they were what made him on par with the likes of sonic the hedgehog. he was a character i could see myself in and a character i could be PROUD to see myself in. that helped a lot.
this song is just about the only thing that can give me purely nostalgic memories of my childhood, without any of the 'oh god why was i like that' or 'hey actually this memory is definitely traumatising' attached. just me vibing to the upbeat theme of my favourite character from my favourite video game for hours on end and thinking about how swell it was to be me. apologies for the corny-as-shit anecdote, but i thought i'd toss my story out into the wild in case it just so happened to resonate with somebody.

The only bad thing is that sega never developed Tails. The whole time he's this shy little fox who doesn't step up for himself. I wish he got more confident over the games and isn't the underappreciated sidekick like he is now btw good luck I kinda feel you but by the time I got to secondary school I was alright (still don't really have friends tho lol)

Yeah he went from someone who although thought sonic was cool also wanted to one day step out of his bro's shadow and make a name for himself to someone who doesn't really know how to function without sonic forces should've been the game tails stepped up to the plate since sonic was out of commission for a while that's why classic sonic appearing made me upset
To be fair in Unleashed he did help Sonic in the Tornado Section and In Colors helped Sonci communicate with the Wisps and help them travel to the Eggmans Interstellar Amusment Park. But that’s all of the positives..

You know the song Vandalize in Frontiers? Yeah... it was written and sung by a Japanese band because the music was one of very FEW things that Japanese SEGA had control of in that game. Tag your name on the side of a burning bridge, watch it fade as the smoke rolls in." Is saying "Did we make a great character just for you to ruin him? Did you make a shit game just so you could cover it up? Leave your name on the side of a franchise and watch it vanish as the hate rolls in."
What about the "fuck the pain away, my bed is in ruins! Need you in my veins, I don't know how you do it!" Yeah? That's saying "Fuck him up again our franchise is in ruins, you make us think we need you, how do you do it?"
That song was written by the team to basically say fuck you to Western SEGA for messing up their characters so bad.

These are some STRONG lyrics and it also shows that Sega had plans for Tails and that he may of planned to become even more self reliant or find his own path eventually. Which never happened. Edit: Sonic x did something like this this at the end but not sure if the character arc is cannon.

Tails is honestly a amazing Sonic character and I want to see more of him. I want him to be playable again too. Many Sonic characters should be playable again. Tails is also by far my favorite Sonic character and I love his theme just as much as him. I'm not a big fan of the adventure one version though...

I want tails to do something again like BE PLAYABLE IN A 3D SONIC GAME AGAIN come on Sega we need more characters then sonic to be playable again I want a sonic game with knuckles tails and Amy even though she’s a pain sometimes her gameplay can be fun they removed all the other characters we loved from being playable
I did enjoy forces but yes Tails needs better treatment. His character is so full of potential that should’ve been explored more by now. He get’s to show off his unique talents more in the cartoons and anime. Sonic X gave him some of the best development he’s had since Sonic adventure 2
RedfurredPikachu I miss adventure tails so much he actually had development from both games and was a real character not someone asking for help and talking ONLY about science also what made sonic say “little buddy” I hate that line so much because sonic and tails are basically brothers it’s dumb that sega hasn’t been treating tails like himself a person who wants to be more than just being Sonics sidekick and As someone who didn’t like the sonic movie I really hope the next game works out
@@powerfullpummel6417 I will always love Tails so much because I've seen plenty of things where you can really see what he can do when the writting for him is at it's best. His greatest weapon is his mind and for some reason other people pick up on this more than Sega. He's practically made for creativity and I so wish I could do an actual game with him. Sega just really needs to be reminded of how awesome this little guy can be.
I mean in Sonic X alone he's hacked the entire Space colony arc from earth all by himself. Not only built a plane from scratch but an entire freaking spaceship. Then not only stood up to SHADOW but actually managed to outsmart him several times in one episode. To this day that episode remains as my giant favorite moment for Tails cause he's such a badass during it.

I remember being younger and listening to this song on repeat for genuine hours, day after day, espicially summer break :') i'd have it loud enough so i could jam out but not so loud you could hear it upstairs and just spin in circles and hop around. it brings me so much joy and nostalgia... bruh :'D
The Sa1 version flew high, so the Sa2 version could fly higher.
I always love this. Tails is my favorite character. He is smart and cute. Sonic is lucky to have him as a best friend and a sidekick.

@@numburger Flynn actually redeemed a bit of his character in vanilla Frontiers, and in the update 3, I think he definitely became more independent from Sonic. Not to mention he's pretty much playable now lol
Back in like 2012-2015, I always putted this song and played it on my laptop and by second by second I started bursting out in tears for some reason. Just something about the song that really makes me sad.
Tails: A genius prodigy mechanical engineer capable of both hovering and flight due to a mutation at birth giving him 2 tails.
Somehow still gets left in the shadow of a free running/parkour hedgehog who speaks in one liners.

This is personally my favorite one of the two themes, Tails is a great character that unfortunately hasn't been treated so well in the newer games 😔. Really hope they get some writers that actually know anything about the Sonic franchise.

There is something honorable about Tails and a very unique character. The fact that he was pretty heroic such a young age and a mechanic is pretty impressive. I also admire how he likes to help others and not depend on Sonic. Tails back then felt like a action hero which was pretty unique for that time on my opinion. Now he isn’t what he used to be... but he might get redeemed in the next Sonic Movie!

This is about Tails becoming his own fox, but most of the modern games just make him a sidekick. To add on to that, what does Tails in Forces do? COWARD IN FEAR LIKE THIS ISN'T THE TAILS I KNOW AND LOVE
The Forces scene is fine because he is under depression but I do agree that it’s obvious that Sega didn’t want Tails to stay a sidekick or a player 2 character forever they probably wanted him to be more of a close friend. A hero in his own adventures but a partner to Sonic in his adventures. They actually considered making a game for Tails before Shadow The Hedgehog came out but because Shadow won the most votes they never did. It is interesting however that Tails is a support hero in the game appearing twice.
That would explain why they made Tails separate himself from Sonic in this game using his Cyclone. They had plans for Tails as a character, it’s sad to see that most of their plans never happened.
This is very similar to Sonic The Comic Tails. That version of Tails is not a sidekick but pretends to be the sidekick when he’s with Sonic because that version of Sonic is so arrogant. In issue #121 Sonic finds out Tails can handle himself and gets jealous saying “he better not get the idea that he can do without me!”
And Archi Tails is more of a protagonist that partners up with Sonic a lot according to the “Sonic News Network.” He had his own adventures there and I think this is what Sonic Team wanted for Tails in the games.
Btw there is some evidence to this like the scene in Sonic Heroes where Tails is alone with Knuckles in the Tornado 3 being independent and went looking for Sonic with Knuckles. Then Sonic says “Long Time No See!” Like they have been separate from each other sense after SA2. This shows Tails was independent but just went looking for Sonic as a friend would but not in a sidekick way. If this is the case then it makes me sad that Tails is a misunderstood character.
