I absolutely love this woman! Well her vids that is, she gets right to the point, she dosent over talk to much like most do in their tutorials because they love the sound of their own voice and she keeps all her recipes simple and easy enough to do at home cuz lets face it if we had all those pro tools, then we'd probably already know what we were doing and wouldn't need to be watching these UA-cam videos....LOVE herrrrrrr!!!
This looks absolutely stunning! I was looking for an amazing cake that I can make for my daughter's second birthday in a couple of weeks and looks like I've found it! Thanks so much
As simple as this is there is still an incredible amount of detail. You actually payed attention to how long the skirt needed to be for a doll that size. Thank you for making such awesome tutorials!!!!
Hi Ann, thank you for your tutorials.my sister and i started a home baking business amongst the busyness of looking our kids:) we made this princess cake for a special order and received great feedback. So thank u thank u thank u for using ur God given talents and sharing with the world:) would love to meet u someday as we live in syd as well .. God bless....
Awesome! I'm so glad I stumbled upon your video clip. By far the easiest tutorial I've seen today! Definitely baking this cake for my daughters 4th bday in a few weeks time. Tx Ann
And I've seen every season of GBBO and yet, somehow, I'm halfway through this video and I've already learned like five amazing new techniques. This is one of the best videos I've ever found on the internet and I'm OLD.
When my daughter came to me at the weekend and said she wanted a princess cake for her birthday I though (well I won't write what I thought) my baking skills have improved over the years but for me she has set me a challenge! Your video is great and you explain each step really easily I am printing out how to make this cake! and am glad I don't need to cook the doll or remove her legs (I have seen this in other examples) wish me luck and I know my soon to be 5 year old is going to love it. (hope mine looks as good as yours) Thanks! p.s. will have your video on stand by when I'm cooking.
I agree with TeriT, - really like your approach and instructions. Excellent tip about pushing some of the mix away from the centre. Just an FYI for readers - the Large measuring bowl with handle from Pampered Chef can be used to bake the skirt in. Worked like a charm.
Awesome tutorial! I love the way you use whatever is available to make such amazing cakes, i wasted alot of money on tips and flower cutters and piping bags :( wish i had found u earlier. Thanks for the video.
180 degrees C start checking it after 20 minutes. Insert a knife into the middle and it should some out clean if the cake is done. I put an empty tray on the top shelf to stop the top from burning before the middle was done.
Hi there, I just want to thank you for sharing your decorating techniques, the way you do it, it's really simple and I believe I can do it. I can't wait to try it out, just not sure when cos I don't a daughter to try it for. My mum's birthday is coming up and I'm thinking of doing it for her birthday. It will be funny but who cares, she won't mind as long as the cake taste nice then it will be fine.. Anyway I'll post the picture here for you to see once I have done it. Thanks again.
Excellent, well done, fab video. Not too quick (as someone commented), just right as who has time these days to watch drawn out videos and you can pause and re-wind if necessary. I know it's disheartening when some people dislike and I don't understand it when you've taken the time and effort to help people. I also decorate cakes and try to help with tips etc (as others on UA-cam helped me in the beginning) but unfortunately not everyone is nice out there. Debs x
Made this for my eldest daughter´s 7th Birthday today, thanks for the tips, I used ideas from this one and the piped buttercream one as she will love the ruffles! I just wish I lived closer to a cake decorating shop so I could easily get supplies...could get expensive though...I really enjoyed doing it. Keep up the good work ;-)
This is such an awesome tutorial I subscribed without hesitation! Thank you thank you thank you. This is the only tutorial video I have seen that doesn't muck around, is easy to understand and boy you make something so delicate look so easy, so easy in fact I know I can do it too :-)
Hi belindakan, yes you could freeze the whole cake if you like. If it is not being made fresh make sure you add the sugar syrup as the cake can dry out in the freezer even when covered. Once frozen double wrap in plastic, take plastic off before defrosting so it doesn't ruin your piping.
Hi Gatita, the syrup is simple syrup, just use equal quantities of water and sugar and boil it until the sugar has dissolved. The white things were just sprinkles.
Hi atiqah sophiah, yes if the weather is warm that is a good idea and then take it out of the fridge half an hour before serving to allow the buttercream to soften.
Hi TheEmilyDaisy that is a good question, I often forget to weigh how much fondant I use. If you get 500g that should be enough for this cake, or 750g if you like your fondant thicker.
Hi amm sal, Yes you can make fondant decorations well ahead of time (4weeks+). Allow them to dry out uncovered and then store in an airtight container with non-stick baking paper around them. Yes you can cover the cake the night before, you can make the entire cake the night before with the doll init. If you live somewhere very hot then store in fridge otherwise room temperature is fine.
Hi ssteph18, the buttercream is fine out of the fridge but it will go soft if the weather is hot. It is usual to store in fridge and then take out half an hour before serving.
I've recently discovered your channel and I love it! Ive watched most of your videos and I never thought I'd be watching someone from the other side of the world (I live in Scotland). Earlier on today, I made the chocolate barks from your 5 diy gifts video and they were amazing. I'm never allowed to bake or anything so your videos have gave me inspiration for when I'm older. I am 11 so that's plenty of time before I'm an adult to watch all your videos. I love love love this channel and you are an A++++ at baking. Before this channel I didn't even know what basically anything is! 😂 I just want you to know that you are just amazing 💞
Hi A Hussain, If you use gel colour it should not effect baking time, if using a lot of liquid colour decrease the liquid in the recipe by an equal amount and it will take the same amount of time to bake.
Hi alitas2010, yes you can use ganache, just make sure you have a firm ganache, the less cream you add the firmer is will be, and whip it before piping.
You have the best princess/doll cake tutorials that I have seen and you aren't even using fancy tips and piping bags. Absolutely love it
How could anyone dislike this. Even if they don't like the cake, the voice is just hypnotic.
I absolutely love this woman! 180 degrees C start checking it after 20 minutes. Insert a knife into the middle and it should some out clean if the cake is done. I put an empty tray on the top shelf to stop the top from burning before the middle was done.
Fondant can be used to make 3d flowers but most people use gumpaste which is just fondant with tylose powder added which makes it set hard quicker.

Hi transitvandoors, the cake tin i used is 20cm or 8" in diameter and yes the bowl lined up with the tin size.
You are very talented! Hope you get famous :)
hi lisa ribeiro, yes you can use a mix try the whitewings dreamy cupcake mix I think 2 packets would be enough but perhaps get 3 just in case.

Hi ssteph18, the buttercream is fine out of the fridge but it will go soft if the weather is hot. It is usual to store in fridge and then take out half an hour before serving.

How To Cook That I am a lot, thank you ☺
no i've done a couple of wedding cakes (including a request for a gingerbread house that's on my channel) but never the classic one.
Hi StarleePie47, either take slices from the side or putt he doll out prior to cutting up the cake.
Awww! Best barbie cake yet!!!! All the others just get a bit too much! Stick to simple pretty things! No need for a million flowers and bows!
Wow! Your really talented!
It’s so beautiful 😍
Hi Julie. Sometimes we eat it, other times we use it for a special event or give it away to friends.
thanks Mimi Damur and welcome to howtocookthat : )
It's amazing! Beautiful!
Hi A Hussain, If you use gel colour it should not effect baking time, if using a lot of liquid colour decrease the liquid in the recipe by an equal amount and it will take the same amount of time to bake.
Hi Morimali, yes I try to do it that way so that everyone can make them. Thanks for watching.
Hi katrina hope, the simple syrup can be flavoured how you like eg vanilla coffee, orange, lemon and yes you could use it on pancakes
It looks heavenly delicious
Nice video! The cake came out so pretty!
