We can't conclude that it's murder without more info, we can only conclude that it seems inter-personal violence, although, especially if a wooden spear can't be discarded, why not to consider a bovid's horn? With a spear you're much more likely to aim for the body and if hitting over there, chances are that the skull will deflect the blow towards the eye or another less hard and slippery part than the forehead.
I thought of a simple rock. Also yes seems inter-personal but could have been from tribal war, punishment, or an accident. But the last one is unlikely. Unless the rock he hit his head on had proportions in the same space as both the wounds

Yeah I would agree, a rock or a handaxe would make the most sense.

Also how can you tell it was "two" separate hits and not a single impact??? I've seen many rocks that could make the exact same imprint.
