On this day in 1948, then-Jewish Agency Chairman David Ben-Gurion proclaimed the establishment of the State of Israel. In 1947, the United Nations voted to partition Palestine into separate Jewish and Arab states. The move was rejected by the Arab states but Israel went ahead with it. This led to the First Arab war between Israel and the Arab states just a day after the Jewish state was founded.

Prior to the 1917 “Balfour Declaration" of the British government's intent to establish a Jewish homeland in Palestine, the British govt had announced plans set up a Zionist state in their _Kenya_ colony. 3.5 million acres of the finest Kenyan land were demarcated for this purpose.
The plan fell apart due to different reasons, including the fact that some of the colonizers already settled in Kenya were straight up antisemitic and opposed the idea of giving prime Kenyan land (that they themselves had their eyes on) to the Jews, proposing that the Israeli state be set up in Palestine.
Kenyans would be experiencing exactly what Palestinians are going through today, if history had played out just a bit differently. Indeed, freedom fighters in Kenya (including participants in the _Mau Mau_ liberation movement that was agitating for the return of Kenyan land appropriated by colonial settlers) were branded terrorists and their movements outlawed by colonial-era legislation, until 20 years ago, when the legislation was scrapped.
At the time, the proposal was wrongly called the _Uganda Plan_ by some, because the Uasin Gishu plateau in Kenya was believed to lie in the neighboring Uganda Protectorate.

CORRECTION: The state and nation of Israel was conceived by God when told Abraham that his descendants (through the child of promise Isaac) will inherit a land flowing with milk and honey. He called that land CANAAN. God had to drive out 7 nations for them to inherit that land but because of disobedience, God scattered the descendants of Abraham; mind you, Abraham's son through his handmaid Hagar was not included. He doesn't count. CANAAN consists of the whole of Jordan, all of Palestine, southern parts of Syria, all of Gaza, all of West Bank (formerly Judea & Samaria) and all of Lebanon. In actuality, the state of Israel was founded back around 1400 BC as evidence in the Book of Joshua. Israel fell to the Romans in 50BC. Then a series of exchanges of empires through wars, from Roman to Persian to Ottoman, etc, and finally to the British following the end of WW1 and signing of the Treaty of Versailles. Marking the end of WW2 was founding of the UN which then followed with UN recognition of the State of Israel where the British Empire gave back the State of Israel. Incredible history. It is a beautiful thing.

night. Mr. Bruce speaks of a Kowas, or watching-dog, who was
worshipped on the hills of Abyssinia." This is doubtless in allusion
to Sirius, the watch-dog of the skies. In the following passage he

cluded Ethiopia above Egypt, as it is generally called, with part of
Abyssinia and Azan, received its name from Sharma, of whom we

retired to the mountains of Ajagar, and settled near the Lake of the
Gods. Many learned Brahmins are of opinion, that by the children
of Sharma we must understand that race of Devatas (good genii)
who were forced to emigrate from Egypt during the reigns of Sani
and Rahu, or Saturn and Typhon (evil dæmons, oppressors, and

did not mention from where those Dravidians entered into

If Israel was only formed in 48 where do the Israelites come from
Israel was not formed in 1948, your understanding is the one limited to 1948. Israel was included in the name called CANAAN which God promised the descendants of Abraham through Isaac the child of promise.
