I respectfully disagree with the horcrux destruction critiques. It works for me. Seeing it play out immediately reminded me of what was happening plot-wise and there’s something engaging about the juxtaposition of the Hermione and Ron’s love blossoming and Voldemort breaking the protection spell. The deconstruction of the set up, pattern, and pay off helped me see why it works for me.
Actual projector, or just motivating lighting? Regardless, really clever way of framing up the reaction. Pretty surprised this isn't already a Corridor react segment lol, love that you're trying out this format.
Notice the very smooth edges of Voldemort's matte, plus the dark outlines in his motion blur and above his ears. It looks like an 11th-hour roto job, probably using an outtake from another sequence.
I disagree with the idea that Shakey cam was the problem with action movies. Shakey cam is used to amazing effect in movies like The Raid and borne (like you said). the real problem is when you pair it with quick cutting, especially when most of the shots are close ups so the audience never is able to understand the geography of the scene. it makes the action just feel like really high energy but without tension.
Wow, watching you break down those edits was both hilarious and insightful! It's like peeking behind the curtain of movie magic, but instead finding some pretty wild bloopers. Thanks for the laughs and the behind-the-scenes look! 🤣👏
This was a great watch! Love hearing you two discuss techniques of editing and figuring out motivations of cuts. Very well done and would love more like this!
Here’s another weird cut from a major movie: I remember watching Captain America: The First Avenger in theaters, and around an hour 38 minutes into the film there’s a cut that was so jarring it completely took me out of the movie. Cap is swinging on a chain, and when they cut he’s already running on the ground. In theory the cut should work, ‘cause he leaves frame in the shot leading into the cut, but in practice it still feels very weird. The cut was jarring enough that I still remember it today, lol.
ua-cam.com/channels/JJV8pckL_OiW-IpzwPqAfw.htmljoin We had to cut out half of the video to optimise it for the algorithm, and we hate doing that. If you want the full version, which has an extra 30 minutes of us reacting to the worst edits, you can get it here
dude!! you have voiced every single editing problem I've had with harry potter!! when people say that the fifth film is their favourite i'm like huh?? the one with the hilariously bad green screen shot of voldemort??
I think the problem with the second Harry Potter clip is that it looks like Voldemort is reacting to Ron and Hermione kissing instead of him reacting to the horocrux and I think if they showed his last reaction before they showed the kissing, it would have been a better juxtaposition of what is happening on both sides of the story
Ah the "RESIDENT EVIL: THE FINAL CHAPTER" comes to mind when bad ediding is discussed.. the whole movie is just a dissaster of an edit... they go fast at roughly 1 cut per second for pretty much most of the movie xD
You should do a podcast on AI it’s not because I’m interested in using it but more because as someone whose sole goal is to make UA-cam videos will AI takeover how powerful is it I feel AI hasn’t been really shown to us at its current potential.
Very helpful..... I'm tempted to say I owe you a ton for the knowledge...but should people stumble upon my disasterpieces they could fault you............ So I leave it at " Great video! tHanks "
one of the best action sequences ever put to film? you mean the two guys standing in front of a green screen waving wands at each other while the cgi team took care of the rest? ok then bud
I love this format of roasting bad edits on Hollywood movies. Watching your reactions is priceless.

No one, Voldemort- AHHHHHH
18:24 I legit thought the cut to the musicbed ad was one of the bad cuts to show XD
How did that glass not fall off the chair?
my thoughts exactly
👀
Continuity.
I’ll be doing the Voldemort scream for the rest of the month at least
You "The Room"ed yourself with that J cut at 16:13
🤣
Just wait for the critique of "The Cube", "Cube 2: Hypercube", and "Cube Zero"
AMAZING IDEA, there should be more of this, thanks a lot for your work
So good. You should keep this up. Even like a “editors react to bad and good cuts” like corridor where you could bring editor guests on!
I love that the director of Taken 3, Olivier Megaton, on his IMDB trademark section it says "Intentionally disorienting camerawork and editing."
Whenever Hayden does an ad read... it kind of sounds like he's about to say "Ask your doctor before trying Riverside"

Real projector!
@@EditingPodcast I dig it! A lot nicer than putting the back of a TV / laptop in the shot.
Don't forget the goofy freeze frame at the end of Prisoner of Azkaban

Nothing from the Academy Award winning editing of Bohemian Rhapsody?

Yes, finaly people who agree with me. That Voldemort insert DID look like an 80's videoclip! It was so weird and out of place. XD
Hayden wearing a green jacket during Masters week was not expected
I hate going back to my uni projects too (or even worse, pre university)
This was a great watch! Love hearing you two discuss techniques of editing and figuring out motivations of cuts. Very well done and would love more like this!
you say the bourne franchise did shaky cam well but theres a fight scene in the first film which is incomprehensible
At the moment Jordan said "Thunder is happening" I got spooked by a real life lightning flash. Please, Hillier, put that wand down...
This was great fun, thanks guys!
That Voldemort scream is definitely the new Wilhelm scream.
12:04 this looks like Voldemort is using a kamehameha to stop Vegeta from blowing up the earth.

I just watched that and oooooff yeah it’s jarring
Fun format, would definitely watch again! Thanks gents.
You could make this a "Best and Worst Edits" series similar to corridor crew's VFX show
17:11 Hayden. You definitely cast a spell! 🧙♂
this is awesome! We need PART 2
I have watched harry Potter series many many of times now i realized these flaws in edit. Especially the one Voldemort scream 😂😂😂
Great episode! Those Voldemort cuts were hilarious
I actually already watched mr beast hide and seek. And i never thought ai voice would be there
Do more of this. I love this content. Plus, it's probably easy to do a wholeeee bunch of eps. Like VFX artists react.

5:45 the audio sounds like it was from some mobile game ad 💀

I mean a half second bad image of Voldemort does not ruin a movie that has 2 and a half hours of other stuff
@@AmazingJoe96 oh that's not my only issue with the fifth movie lol

i cant get over the voldemort scream lol
Love this style of video! :D
More please more podcasts like this! :)
i always watch the ads on this channel because I need more!! loving all the content fellas as always :))
Second harry potter clip, ron and hermione change places in the next cut lol
Who else is barely surprised Hayden has a wand & less surprised he can use it?
Voldemort has the new Wilhelm scream
I want to know where you got that premiere pro pin
petition for every youtuber to replace the wilhelm scream with voldemort in their edits
21:59 Adidas product placement

new lore - Hillier can command thunder -
yo Jordan's music video cuts were actually not bad
Grabbed some popcorn ...Waiting for Jimmy to comment on that one :D

Ron and Hermoine also switched sides xD
I love that you guys drink bourbon during these reviews, that's what I do with my podcast guests!
The A.I genuinely isn't that noticeable
I really enjoyed viewing this video ❤
* pulls out wand* naaaaaaahhhhh
nnNYYYAAAAAHHHH
11:48 hermione starts on the right but is on the left for the kiss, wtf

More content llike this... So much fun

I have no problem with Voldemort yelling
