"We showed him the piano; it was as if we were introducing someone to him to the first time. He lifted the lid, hit a couple of keys, smiled and murmured, "He's got character". Later: "He's unpredictable. I like it". He played a little more, and called out to us once more: "Hmm... there's a slight chance that I might break it. I get excited sometimes." We didn't tell this to our hosts; instead, we crossed our fingers." | thank you about that ;)
Nils Frahm made an album called 'Felt', in which he put a cloth made of felt over the strings to be quieter for his neighbours. That whole album is recorded with felt on the strings, that's why he performs the same way.
This piece brought me to tears the first time I heard it. I come back to it and listen to it in different situations and each time it has a different story to tell.
La segunda pieza la siento como lágrimas en la lluvia que el silencio del corazón preludia que nos envuelve y refresca sacando a la luz ese rincón de oscuridad que nos asola y repudia... Sonidos y música vibrante y brillante...!
I love the title so much. The first meaning of ''Poche'' is ''Pocket''. And we often use it in a metaphorical way to speak about something so little that it could enter a pocket. For example ''a pocket computer'' would mean ''a tiny computer''. But what you got to know is that ''poche'' can also be used in a familiar way to describe someone full of alcohol. And if you put the words ''night'' and ''pocket'' together, the first meaning that comes to my mind is ''a night of drunkard''.
In a way you re right .. to clarify ... "poche" is not really related to alcohol ... in french we say "pochetron" which is very familiar and means "drunkard" ... but "poche" can also mean "tiny" indeed ... so i think the meaning of the tittle is something like "tiny (or intimate) party" . For info "poche" also means "plastic bag" in the South of France.
I saw this guy last year when he came to Mexico. His performance made my heart pump so much till tears came down my face. I was crazy in emotion. He is one of the most sensible, talented persons Ive seen.
30 years ago when I was a little kid, I often visited my grandmother. She had a big apartment with lots of rooms and fascinating things. She also had an old piano which I loved to just look at and play on. I never learned to play it correctly though, wish I had. This sounds just like her piano. I miss her.
This! This is how a true artist should perform. No nonsense with an enormous stage and pyrotechnics, just the artist and his instrument, up close and personal. Simply Beautiful. Thank you for the upload.
Nils just came to Fair-field, IA and played a small show during our First Friday's ArtWalk Festival. We enjoyed have Nils Frahm and when he releases more music, we wish to have him back. He is a delightful pianist and I will always purchase his music (never pirating). I am a true fan.
***** Yes! His shows are always breathtaking :))! Such a humble, down to earth and beautiful human being too. Dear everyone, if you ever hear of an upcoming show, drop everything, book tickets and be excited! To watch him perform is.......................... :)))!!!
At fist i was like wow this is so cool, then i was like: 'wait this is just a 4-chord song'. But during the song, and how it progresses in your brain, i was like: 'this is why i follow LaBlogotheque'. i love you all.
You have to respect what the artist is doing with this song. It's not too long in the start for nothing,if you're bored so fast and judge a song by a repeated note, maybe this music isn't for you. He's building the song that way,so that when the melody comes it feels more distinct and present.
Hearing the same note for two minutes creates repetition and ultimately boredom. But when other notes are introduced, it changes the way we perceive the first note. And because the new notes are fresh, they really stand out in the mind. I think.
Sam AK if you listen closely, you'll notice that he's altering different aspects of that one note like timbre with the pedal and changing up his attack; more subtleties!
Eric Vanderbilt-Mathews I hadn't noticed, now I have..! I enjoy doing that with a simple midi controller and soft synths, mapping rotary controls to the ADSR envelope and just jamming for ages. Music, I don't quite know what would fill the void if we didn't have it
The point isn't repetition, it's continuousness. The use of the drone is actually rather common in various genres and cultures of music around the world.
He repeats the tone at the start as a sort of hypnosis, it's a prelude, according to La Blogoteque the opening drone put one of the children in the apartment to sleep. That's what he wanted.
yeah ill subscribe based off this one video...gods above its been a while since i've felt anything remotely close to this. merci nils fram et la blogotheque
Our western culture is so obsessed with numbers, we tend to think of technique and structure in terms of quantity, in terms of how many times a particular motive is used or note played, when in reality the effect of pieces like this is the realization that we may number and catalog every detail of the universe to infinity, but it all amounts to the same unified whole. To one.
I am so glad I found this again. One of his best works.

I never heard a pianist who would feel the instrument the way Nils feels it. he's my role model. pure delight
The overtone coming out of that piano is amazing!!!!!

His music sounds quite provoking and serene at the same time!
Truly one of UA-cam's greatest treasures.
been coming back to hear this for so long... touches me every time.
This piece brought me to tears the first time I heard it. I come back to it and listen to it in different situations and each time it has a different story to tell.
The hands ask the questions and the piano replies.
Thank you for posting this marvellous piece
Merci la blogothèque pour ce superbe moment. Honest, strong, simple and genius...
La segunda pieza la siento como lágrimas en la lluvia que el silencio del corazón preludia que nos envuelve y refresca sacando a la luz ese rincón de oscuridad que nos asola y repudia...
Sonidos y música vibrante y brillante...!
This is too perfect for words...

WTF...! I never heard of this guy before, He's pure genius! Got to see him live!
You must see MULL of OA, too !
Have you seen him live by now? I have twice and about to go for the third time. The most blissful times of my life
I saw this guy last year when he came to Mexico. His performance made my heart pump so much till tears came down my face. I was crazy in emotion. He is one of the most sensible, talented persons Ive seen.
I could listen to it again and again, and again, and again...

Hello from 24 -09-2020! awesome emotions from this music stream!!
Nils just came to Fair-field, IA and played a small show during our First Friday's ArtWalk Festival. We enjoyed have Nils Frahm and when he releases more music, we wish to have him back. He is a delightful pianist and I will always purchase his music (never pirating). I am a true fan.
I would suggest watching this in 720p in fullscreen. Magnificent.
This is one of those shows that makes you forget to breathe.

+Nitin Katiyar 19 April 2016 in Paradiso Amsterdam I have tickets, Yes.
I hummed throughout the song. It felt very nice.
I just came back from a journey. It was lovely.
I love the resonance from 1:30 onwards. It's like the new notes he's playing are phasing with the old ones still being produced by the piano.
I have no words to express myself
This is music, this is heart. Only when you can feel the instrument and become one whole
At fist i was like wow this is so cool, then i was like: 'wait this is just a 4-chord song'. But during the song, and how it progresses in your brain, i was like: 'this is why i follow LaBlogotheque'. i love you all.
"I don’t believe we have ever filmed such an intense connection between a musician and their instrument."
You have to respect what the artist is doing with this song. It's not too long in the start for nothing,if you're bored so fast and judge a song by a repeated note, maybe this music isn't for you. He's building the song that way,so that when the melody comes it feels more distinct and present.
No words to say, simple moves, just perfect.
He is telling story. I hear Nils
I love You Nils! Thank you for your Sensitivity, Music..

I think.
I think you just defined techno music basics ;P
Lovely piano song by the way.
What a surprise, I love my techno!
That's what fascinates me about 'minimalist' electronic music, it's all about the subtleties!
Sam AK if you listen closely, you'll notice that he's altering different aspects of that one note like timbre with the pedal and changing up his attack; more subtleties!
Eric Vanderbilt-Mathews

Music, I don't quite know what would fill the void if we didn't have it
Eric Vanderbilt-Mathews
After 15 secs you wonder....then the resonances meld into almost "the 3rd ear" ingenious stuff.
My mind just fell in love with this!!
LaBlogotheque, you've done it again.
Expression... what a gift to human.. just wow.
i just love his music
Super cool Thanks Nils this is absolutely awesome
more beautiful than can ever be described
Absolutely fabulous!!!! ❤️
Always a pleasure ✌
a beautiful note of urgency & direction

Amazing performance! wish I was there :) ohh I just love the sound of Rhodes...
Minunat!

Most inspiring movie since long.
He repeats the tone at the start as a sort of hypnosis, it's a prelude, according to La Blogoteque the opening drone put one of the children in the apartment to sleep. That's what he wanted.
More than a great artist!

Sometimes words are not enogh to describe feelings. Thanks.

18:20 More
21guitarworld "went missing"
9:00 Toilet brush
That moment when you finally understand a piece of music.
this made me cry.... I am not even joking...
25min out of this world...really
es excelente la interprtación, el ambiente, todo...
I can't believe no one in that audience noticed the differences in this version of 'Said and Done' to cheer as per his request.
Wow- this is really incredible :-) thank you so much
Such a beast... wonderful.
gave me chills all the way. Bravo ;)
this is so brilliant !
Mozart of our times because like him he's free!
Really great stuff my friends! Nils is like the new Philip Glass :)
jaajaj metal is a crappy pop with distortion
@@jorgeparedesaponte4045 your statement is too broad, there are so many sub genres that don't rely on catchy riffs and/or repetition like pop.
Love Blogotheque
Great perspective, your comment adds more color to this piece.
amazing!!!
Thanks! Cheers!
Tears. In heaven
you dead?
I have to know the song he's playing at 21:11. It's funky!

Good question, I would hope so!
