Nils Frahm´s penchant for delicate, minimalistic neo-classical piano music has made him a kindred spirit to the likes of Ólafur Arnalds and Library Tapes. His most recent album is called Felt for a reason: he put felt in his piano to mute the tones because he didn't want to disturb his neighbors. Coincidentally, he really liked this sound. Every show of Frahm is a unique experience, because his playing is mostly based on improvisation.

I just last night discovered Nils, and I am blown away!! There's a very unique brand of minimalism in his music, and it's absolutely breathtakingly beautiful.

Im not too musically literate when it comes to terminology. Is 13:00 (and a lot of the second half of this song) an example of poly rhythms?

That sounds like a detuned(high unison value) distorted saw/square wave which is being filtered and cut off is being automate, after that it is going through some really good reverb plugin/pedal with lots of decay time, it's kind of easy to do with software synths.
