Winston Anthony Bailey better known as The Mighty Shadow or Shadow. He won the Road March in 1974 with "Bassman" and 2001 with "Stranger".
He won the Calypso Monarch in 2000 with "What's Wrong With Me" and "Scratch Meh Back".

Truly an icon...I am glad I was able to be in the presence of this icon on many occasions even when he was honoured by Tobago African Union a few years ago and I was the MC of the function....His good friend Opoku Ware (my former coworker at the Tobago News) always wrote a lot of columns for the newspaper about Shadow...the man was truly a legend....another great one has gone to the beyond

He is missed throughout the Calypso & Soca Fraternity. At least I had the privilege to speak with Shadow once or twice back in 2008. I told I was a big fan of his work and he said in calm stern no nonsense voice "Okay, Thank You Very Much". and said I did a drawing of him as tribute. He laugh with a chuckle Oh okay. Nice man. I'm sorry that he was going through alot with his health with diabetes that led to a stroke. But his spirit is here through his music and his sons Shawn & Sharlan can carry on his legacy. As as Soca Artists like Ajala, Pharoah, Ronnie McIntosh, Singing Francine, Singing Sonia, and the brass band from the past Sound Revolution. Rest in paradise Dr. Winston "The Shadow" Bailey

In 1974, the Mighty Sparrow said he wondered how he & the Lord Kitchener (1922-2000) were going to "stop this man's madness". This was during his interview with Alvin Daniell and Calypspo Showcase. Shadow's parents or grandparents thought he was bright enough to become a lawyer. He started "threatening" Lord Kitchener & Mighty Sparrow with songs like "Obeah Man" (1973). He hit the scene with "Bass Man" the Road March 🏆& "I Come Out To Play'. I can't say I know all his material (songs). Some hits I love by him "Obeah Man" (1980), "Return Of The Bass Man" (1984)- if you look on the UA-cam page Visual Art Productions you will see a whole set of music videos linked to this LP. I know his material from 1988-1990 "Tension" "Peter" "Garden Want Water", "Feeling The Feelings", "Tan Tan". One of my favorites from Carnival 1994 was "Pay De Devil" His last Road March was in 2001 with "Stranger". Another big hit that same year was "Yuh Looking For Horn". To a man who spent almost 45 years in the kaiso line, Shadow R.I.P. It's too bad Trinidad doesn't have artistes of your magnitude & caliber anymore.
