These are the only Rotors you should attempt to cut and resurface.

Truly like this video. It sets the bar for the working man, practicalities, and the threshold of customer vs. Mechanic. Valuable information.

Now, now, JT, all the lectures you’ve given us about Mopar this Mopar that and then you went and bought some
    Duralast aka DoNotlast brakes 😂
You’re still the Man and I’m still a fan!

I disagree! I’ve been a certified mechanic for 38 years and you can turn most rotors with perfect results ✅

Ok, but do you want to spend 25$ to cut a 40$ rotor? Maybe. I guess it depends on what side of the fence the money is on.

Some rotors like the ones that come on the hellcat are not 30 dollars like 500 a pop they are slotted and from my understanding they don’t recommend however my dad who was a mechanic for over 30 years went to him he said with a fresh bit you can cut them. But have fun finding a mechanic to ruin their bit on your rotors plus the liability of it unless you pay them for it and you’re tossing them anyways which would be the case if you can’t cut. From my understanding it’s about taking off the finest bit at a time which is time consuming for the regular shop guy I’m sure especially on commission. Dodge won’t do it for you.

I mic my rotors and I haven't had a turnable rotor since the 2000s, back before O'Reilly bought up Kragen - cause Kragen could turn rotors. Aftermarket rotors of a few decades ago could be turned. And I don't get lifetime warranty on pads and shoes. But think about it: most people don't keep their vehicles for more than a couple of brake jobs. Again I think DIYers keep their vehicles longer than the non-DIYers.

I usually use semi metallic pads and check the edge code on the pad to see what it is rated for hot and cold stopping power. Replaced the front and rear rotors on sisters retired 300m. Put new front rotors on the Neon with good pads, and I need to replace the front rotors on my 06 Charger RT but they aren't warped enough to bother yet. Can get a nice pair of drilled and slotted set for it for under 100 bucks. I doubt they could be turned and they've already warped with easy driving.

RockAuto is my source for auto parts. Raybestos Element3 pads and coated rotors. AZO stuff is still in the dark ages with their prices (I used to buy from them 15 years ago, and I have 70+ warranties)! Pads are cheap enough on RA.

I will tell you this yes you can plug a tire that close to an edge it's a little iffy your tire for example has a rib right below where you plug it which means you have a busted belt on your side wall and it's because you plugged it how do I know this because I have owned a tire shop for 25 years now

I guess all highway miles ? What about Mopar or Nocar my brother ? I hate those electronic parking brakes. Give me a mechanical, lever parking brake. In the rust belt, pretty much always new rotors everytime I do my brakes, I get them coated Jammies. I got 3 plugs in my daughters tires for 4 years now, and NO problems.

Appreciate you big dawg. Checked my autozone account and my front and rear pads on my Gr Cherokee and Durango are lifetime. Free pads just keep buying rotors… ok bet

Rather use OEM pads such as Mopar then those India made not so "Duralast" pads ,i rather stop better than having brake pads last longer & squeak, its ok to resurface OEM rotors, but not the cheapo Chinese aftermarket rotors ...its cheaper to just replace those,as for a good OE equivalent with a good long warranty period & long lasting

Taking a vehicle to a mechanic that takes shortcuts/uses less quality parts is like going to a dentist that doesn't brush his teeth.

You think to hard my dude. Mechanics working on they own car totally different than mechanics that work on customer cars. Did you not hear that part Mr Perfect man?

@OnlineMechanicTips it just shows you are not a car guy and it's just a job for you. That's OK , at least you own that status, my dude.

Naw, it just shows we have priority differences. Anything concerning me or mine I can always get back to at a later date. Anything concerning earning money at the present time usually a priority for some of us. We don't waste a lot of time thinking so hard.

I am not one to criticize, but, that is way too close to the edge to plug. My tech buddies would yell at me if I did that one.

Get ready for lower control arms CVs ball joints that you have to replace the whole spindle for tire rods front and back yeah they start falling apart right out about that mileage you got about $2500 worth of work and parts plus all the free labor that you’ll be here so if you brought it inside it worked on it would be mechanically total
