  • In the BOSIET (Basic Offshore Safety, Induction & Emergency Training) a simulation of a helicopter crash is used to help you to see how to free themselves from a damaged, rotating chopper underwater - or how to evacuate from a platform via an emergency slide, extinguish a fire and provide first aid.

    Aqui no Brasil curso é CBSP só que este aí muito mais completo meus Parabéns. Daqui a pouco as empresas offshore vão exigir também esse treinamento mais avançado.

    • @omv

      Hello! The BOSIET course is in essence a continual assessment. There are written tests after certain sections of the course and then there is an instructor assessment of each person’s performance during each of the practical sessions. There are many practical sessions and these performance reviews are very important. If an individual does not perform a particular task to the satisfaction of the instructor and reviewer, they will be assisted and asked to repeat it to demonstrate understanding and capability. There is a final written test at the end of the course and if the candidate passes all of the sections then a certificate will be issued.

      Hello,
      OMV is not provider of BOSIET trainings, our staff only runs through such trainings. For details, please contact the training providers (such as Falck or MTC, for example). But yes, swimming would be definitely of advantage.

    What type of seat belt is used in the helicopter escape activity? Thank you.

    • @omv
      @omv  5 років тому

      Hi ctsi BBD,
      in most BOSIET training they use a 4 point rotational seat restraint which is the same as you would use and experience in a helicopter transfer. The harnesses are easily cut from behind so if a student gets into difficulties the divers (in the helicopter) can quickly release them.

      There are two courses TBOSIET and BOSIET.
      TBosiet - T stands for tropical.
      Usage of oxygen supply is mandatory for cold regions and not for tropical.

      To be honest- having that breather is actually worse than holding breath. It is just a bag you breath out into and can rebreath that air a few times.
      In the pool they fill with water and its scary to breathe them underwater. I had traumatic experience with it where i started coughing combined with my seatbelt getting stuck. It was worst 30seconds ever and set me on a path to change career.

    • @le_th_
      @le_th_ Місяць тому

      @@macflod It can really mess with the subconscious part of your brain when your brain perceives a life-threatening situation like aspirating pool/ocean water. I do hope you had the trauma treated so that you don't develop PTSD somewhere down the road when another traumatic experience occurs.
      Remaining calm is crucial. The same when learning to buddy-breathe while getting SCUBA certified and you must share your regulator under water with a fellow diver
      Best wishes to you, and please do not let these traumatic experieces go because the human brain can only take so many perceived life-threatening experiences before full blown PTSD develops. In some cases (like a predator trying to kill you), it only takes one event before your life is destroyed for 7-10 years while the brain tries to restabilize itself.

      @@le_th_ thanks. I spoke to a counsellor and i need help because i had ptsd, it was a shock to me but she said its a sliding scale and you are on the milder end. Memories of that moment made me sweat and heart race and i used to get nightmares. Their technique helped my brain to desensitise to it. However i started to notice i became very nervous around thought of flying. Helicopter flight always scared me since and even before so i managed to avoid it apart from one time. However flying in general even just travel i get nervous and anxious. So i started on some cbt therapy, but i had to stop for now for financial reasons but plan to complete it when i can. However i learned a lot and noticed things like- im highly irratated by loud noises, i get more angry easily etc, it all seems to be things that have grown worse since my scare so j hope i can reverse it
      I hope i can learn to conquer it as its like a cloud there all the time.

      I'm one of the trainers at this facility. Just listen to the staff and focus on the exercise. You Always have the possibility to stop the training with a "time out". If you encounter a serious problem (very rare) you can repeat the missing part of the training within 3 months. I've passed dozens of scared persons but you must be able to listen and go on even if you are afraid. It is all in a controlled environment.

      Believe me, those rebreathers are worse than holding breath.
      I done it holding breath and rebreather and id say you really gamble using the breather as they fill with water.
      In real life the cold shock would force you to use the breather but in this day and age why they use them and not air is madness to me, so much can go wrong with them.
