- Go Gardening Show Episode 7 brings you a look at just how beautiful a well-planned native landscaped front yard can look and how a Wildscape can create a relaxing nature sanctuary in your backyard.
So first, the Go Gardening team met up in South town to visit Jessica and Amir Stuart. Their new house started out with a Bermuda grass filled front and back yards, and they decided to transform that not-s0-interesting turfgrass look into a colorful front yard featuring Texas native plants. They did an awesome job at mixing various plant textures and colors to create that special type of curb appeal you don't see too often. In the backyard, they opted for a Wildscape featuring a water feature that attracts many species of birds and native plants for pollinators. Jessica also explained how they got it all done and what they're still wanting to do in the future.
Next stop was one of our favorite places...Rainbow Gardens on Thousand Oaks. They have acres of plants, trees, yard art and anything you can think of for your landscape. Since it is the middle of summer, we talked with store general manager Marshall Grell about what people can still plant in August to add some life to their landscapes. So we spent some time in their citrus trees, succulents and perennial flowers sections and discussed the best ways to plant and care for these summer landscape favorites.
Go Gardening's mission is to help people conserve water in the Edwards and Trinity Aquifers by teaching homeowners how to convert turfgrass areas to low-to-no water use landscapes featuring native plants.
