This show was so before its time... the dad Floyd really stuck with me. He was such nurturing single parent and black male role model. No toxic masculinity there, just love and understanding. He was so good to Moe, such a wonderful father and a great listener. He had his own set of insecurities too. I think of those chats he had with TJ, helping him figure his shit out while drinking ovaltine together every time I have a cup Such a great show to grow up with. Bangin theme song too, god I miss it. ❤

You dun hit it! Floyd was a truly great Tv dad who should be mentioned along with Uncle Phil, James Evans, Carl Winslow, Cliff Huxtable, Andy Taylor, Dan Conner etc. He was definitely a true man and male figure which we don't see anymore. People call masculinity of any kind "toxic" today but real men like Floyd who raised and protected his kids all while being strong, tough, smart, loving and fun is what manhood and fatherhood is all about. Now we just get weak ass "father figures" and the dumb goofy dad trope on tv today. There are no real iconic tv dads anymore, the last one really was Julius from Everybody Hates Chris.
You forgot the most important, he was strict disciplinarian and protective. That's why so many related to the show. He didn't just let his kids do whatever like most shows.

Samuel Appiah Yeah, i'd say late 2000's didn't have the best shows (i especially hate fanboy and chum chum. That show is the nail in the coffin for new shows on nick, and they STILL have yet to release a new, GOOD show). But we are started into a new era of great shows (at least cartoons) now! We have gravity falls, (formerly) phineas and ferb (which ironically started in 2007), adventure time, wander over yonder etc.

When this show begun until it finished, it was given on WB. After it finished, it was given on Disney Channel when Lizzie McGuire was on and maybe when that's so raven was on. I wish for a remake of this show called "smart lady" so freaking bad!!!!!!!

This was my show back in the day. It was a rarity to see a show about a single black father raising three kids one who happens to be a genius. On a sidenote Yvette will forever be my crush.
Both Essence Atkins and Jason Weaver have been on multiple sitcoms. Jason also played on a show titled Thea with Brandy. Essence played on another sitcom called Half and Half. I used to watch all of these shows🤗🥰

Favorite theme song of my childhood
The theme song that's most familiar to me from this show. Therefore, it's my favorite. I will always be thankful for this show. Not just because it was a great show from my childhood, but it inspired me. I remember in school a girl called me a nerd because I used the word "technically". It did hurt my feelings but this show helped me feel better. It made me feel like it was ok to be smart, i.e. a nerd.

I absoultely loved this show this is a WB classic I only wished it had at least a 5 season run. Tj was a cool lil kid, I couldve used him alot when I was in high school. Talk about a lil braniac. His brother Marcus jus couldnt stay out of trouble and his sister Yvette was my boo thing I wanted her so bad as a teen. Memories.
This show is so great! There should be a remake of this called "smart lady" where TJ is the dad and hes got a wife and their daughter is so smart like her dad TJ. She would be 10 yrs old and in high school (10 grade)!

Dooky123 thank you buddy for this comment! The way I see it, SMART LADY will be about TJ having a daughter named "Lola" (it sounds smart) she is a gifted child like her dad was. Lola is 10 years old and in high school! Mr. Henderson is her grandpa, Yvette is married to Mo and they have their own kids (in smart guy Yvette dreamed that she married Mo) her dream came true in Smart Lady! Marcus would be married to and having his own kids!!!!!
