    It took a butt ton of random searches to finally come across a video that compared the Two Rifles I am contemplating.! Thanks!
    Obviously beside the .177 v .22 haha!

    Thanks for the comparison and the video. You helped me decide that I wanted the TAIPAN standard so I ordered one recently and I haven’t even received it yet. I did consider the Uragan but I think what you shared helped me weigh more towards the TAIPAN even though you voted the URAGAN the winner. I have the .22 cal coming.

      Nice choice. Taipans are the best airguns for any money in my opinion. .22 is my favorite.

    Good comparison. Looking for a compact. I thought that the most important comparisons (the last two) were not fair comparisons of the guns themselves, though, as much as the different caliburs you chose for them. If you bought the Vet in 22 it would be a better hunter and wind shooter. I was more interested in accuracy of the two under good conditions.

    That trigger on the Uragan is not acceptable on a 1500 dollar air rifle. It's beyond pathetic.
    I have a Taipan Mutant and the trigger is a modern work of art and perfection.
    Thanks for sharing!
    Too many airguns are over hyped to the point of ridiculous.
    Research is your best friend when buying a new air rifle, and videos like this really help in the decision.

    Hi, thanks for a good comparison. You said that a feature in Uragan, that you never had which is blocking the lever when the last pellet is shot. Doe'snt the same feature exists in FX like Crown which you reviewed o AGN?

    • @ajarnmichael1
      @ajarnmichael1  4 роки тому

      Possibly. I had my scope mounted too low on the Crown to use the magazine so stuck with the single shot tray (which I prefer anyway). Only loaded the magazine once but that was enough to know I didn't like having to take the plastic cover off to load it.

  • @18andlikeit
    @18andlikeit 3 роки тому

    Was surprised you didn't mention the fact that the Vets cocking lever is all the way at the back of the breach by your cheek, while the Aragon has the lever positioned way forward making for much easier and convenient cycling of the mag while keeping on target. This alone makes me favor the Arogon more. I thought the bullpup beach cocking days were over, but the Vet is still really nice.

    • @ajarnmichael1
      @ajarnmichael1  3 роки тому

      I didn't mentin it because for me, the rear placement is more convenient. I usually shoot from a sitting position using a bipod. Having the lever closer to me it more comfortable. Even when shooting offhand, I have no trouble cycling the magazine of the veteran while staying on target. Since most people seem to disagree, I left the cocking lever position out.

    Isn't that a huge amount of creep on the AGT Uragan's 2nd stage (10:22)? The video is very well made. I thought some of the observations you made like what's a good sound level to be particular insightful. The score stuff is not particular interesting to me, it's somewhat subjective, and you might want to weight the categories so things like accuracy and noise carries more weight in your final score. The one issue I have with it as a review, is that you are both comparing two different guns but also two different calibers. I get it, of course, that is what matter to you here and the two guns you had on hand, but but for most people two dimensions are two entirely different things. What's caliber should I get? Your answer is that .22 is superior for body shots on a on collared doves. Should I get a Taipan Veteran or a AGT Uragan in .22? I am not sure, actually, if one can tell, and it would make this review more helpful. Actually, I would encourage you to address that.
    I own a Taipan Veteran Compact .22 and it's been excellent for pesting. Accurate, consistent, quiet, reliable, short (bullpup), efficient, easy to load magazine even one-handed, and the anti-double load feature is super useful in practice (I didn't appreciate that feature till after I bought it). I added a the DonnyFL quick adjuster and adapter to use standard moderators, moderator, cheek rest, biathlon lever extension, and magazine holders. Taipan offer some of these as options this year (2020), they really should be standard with the exception for the moderator which should be an option. Mine has a LW barrel and I dialed down power to shoot the Predator GTOs (lead-free) around optimal speed of 258 m/s. I hit what I aim at (sub-30m) unless my target moves unexpectedly. It would take semi-auto for me to consider upgrading.

      Thank you for the excellent feedback. I agree 100% with your evaluation. Yes, the amount of creep was rediculous. I was later able to tune out most of the creep by adjusting the seers to the edge of being unsafe. It is not a tradeoff I was comfortable making. Also, like you said, the Veteran is clearly the better gun in my opinion with the caveat that the .177 caliber was preventing it from being as good of a hunting rig. I hoped that my recommendation for a .22 Veteran came across in the video but should have been more explicit. I later sold the Uragan and bought a .22 Veteran Compact. In my opinion, The .22 Veteran is the better gun in a more universally flexible caliber.

      @@ajarnmichael1 Our friends in England hunt rabbits with .177 at 12 fpe. If you make heads-shots on the doves with a .177 I suspect it would be effective as well. This still leaves you with the wind factor, so you obviously made the right call by going to .22.

      @ajarnmichael1 thanks alot I just orderd it for my EDGUN R3M I really like the way it looks on your Taipan. Have you checked out the new TAIPAN TACTICAL with the Kevlar bottle, it's a awesome beatiful gun in every way. Look on youtube under SHOOTER 1721 his name is Rick he has a video for the Taipan Tactical in 22 caliber it shoots pellets and slugs absolutely amazing out to a hundred yards, the gun cost like 16 or 1700 that's my next PCP for sure.

    I own neither gun but I don't think your criticism of the Taipan based upon loosing two doves is questionable. I shot one this morning with my P35 in 177 (Barracuda Power pellets at about 900 fps) and it dropped pretty quickly, maybe traveled 15 feet falling out of the tree it was resting in. I've shot a dozen or more with 25 and 22 caliber PCPs and lost a couple. I'm pretty sure it was due to low body impacts. When I place the pellet into the upper body, they drop pretty quickly regardless of caliber. Center of mass is not a good aim point nor is the head. Upper chest under the throat is best. Try shooting a dove there with your Taipan and I'm pretty sure you will be happy with the result.

    Thats odd that your ATG is that loud. My father has one and with the OEM mod on the end its so insanely quiet.

    Only issue I see, is that your comparing an apple to a pineapple concerning caliber. If the Taipan was 22 Cal, it would exceed the Uragon in most all measures as presented. That is, by your own review. So, I would say that by what you have presented, the Taipan, is the better choice. when comparing equal calibers. LOL, Just saying. Disclaimer: I have neither owned, handled, or shot either gun, so my opinion is based purely on your objective and subjective presentation of the facts as you know them.

    I have two Veterans - a compact in .22 and a standard Veteran in .25. This review, while informative is apples/oranges...your comparing a .177 to a .22 - that in itself negates this entire review. a plastic trigger, and a plastic stock....are ya shitting me.... You can get a Veteran in a beautiful, wood - not plastic - laminated stock and the trigger is a work of art. I polish and tune the triggers on all my guns but with the Veteran, I didn't see a need to - it works like a jewel out of the box w/o a ton on adjusting. I don't care for the magazine, another plastic part that screams "cheapo" vs the Veterans metal much easier to load mag. And even with a shroud and a moderator that Uragan is how loud??? - louder that the Veteran & that's with a shroud only. I I thought your grading scale was way off as well....Veteran the hands down winner in my book. Worthless Review. I also have a Marauder Bullpup with a LW polygonal barrel, a P-Rod custom and a 1701P custom. I'd put any of these up against that Uragan. Pesting efficiency, my Veteran compact in .22 with 32gr Griffin Boat Tails is extremely accurate and it'll take care of those pest. My .25 will do golf balls at 200yrds.

      I disagree. It is the type of information I would have liked to know when deciding which caliber to buy. In my opinion, .177 only makes sense if you have a 12 FPE power limit in your country.
