The bit where he's running up and down the stairs in his building is so good. This may be one of my favourite movies of his. I love the crackly soundtrack as well, it's very charming.
"He was a lovely person and a supreme artist and, I think, one of the most beautiful people that was ever photographed" -- Orson Welles on Buster Keaton. Sums it up pretty well for me too.
More: "He was, as we are now beginning to realize the greatest of all the clowns in the history of the cinema...He was a lovely person, and a supreme artist, and I think one of the most beautiful people that was ever photographed...Keaton was beyond all praise, a very great artist, also a superb director. In the last analysis, nobody came near him…I wish I’d known him better than I did. A tremendously nice person, you know, but also a man of secrets. I can’t even imagine what they were." - Orson Welles
This movie made me cry. Not many stunts or gags, but oh, his face! His acting still carried him through. He could've done more movies like this. Idk if he directed or written this, it's different, but still good.
To see at 17:00 the ORIGINAL Yankee Stadium, only 4 years old, before the completion of the wraparound upper decks, makes this an historical gem in and of itself!

Beautiful, artistic comedy that never ages. Best stunts and gags that are still funny and charming, and will continue to be funny for generations to come. We are so lucky to have the films and shorts of a creative, comic talent like Buster Keaton!
AMAZING ❣❣❣ Many words to say about this movie !.. I thought Buster Keaton's best movie was The General (1926), but this movie is a masterpiece. The General was an action-packed movie, but this movie is loaded with heavy doses of emotion from start to finish. Buster Keaton's films became a benchmark for the films that came after him. This movie is one of the biggest examples of this.
That is the greatest footage I have ever seen of Buster Keaton! Thanks so much for sharing his finominla work. He is such a genius and this film is so impressive and is a new personal favorite. 🎥🎞📽🎬
Oh wow, this is a much better quality download than what I've seen before. Really lets you enjoy the beautiful, soft black and white photography. Oh, how I love this movie.
The scene where he's shelling out his last found coins on the "let's just walk" date is exactly where "Half Baked" got the scene from! There are so many scenes that were referenced 60+ years later.
@@annafrancan what do you even do in that situation? Like, you’re stuck in a pool, surrounded by people, and you’re wearing no clothes. It’s not like you can just waltz out naked, and in the modern day, people won’t wear those crazy swimsuits he nicked the pants off
Beautiful film❤. I was had some trouble in my career and i know exactly what i need to do now. Watching his movies definitely going to make me a better person 😇
That sequence at 25:16 has got to be one of the best of the silent era. Very innovative for the time. Also, who else noticed Keaton’s resemblance to a certain Mr. Fallon 😂
Man with a Movie Camera is famous for the range of cinematic techniques Vertov invented, employed or developed, such as multiple exposure, fast motion, slow motion, freeze frames, match cuts, jump cuts, split screens, Dutch angles, extreme close-ups, tracking shots, reversed footage, stop motion animations and self-reflexive visuals (at one point it features a split-screen tracking shot; the sides have opposite Dutch angles). gracias por compartirla, y esa explicacion que pones. Me gusto esta pelicula, siempre me ha gustado Keaton, aun asi faltan escenas de peligro que en el cine mudo escapista era la base de atraccion. Like.
That's probably his best movie. Lack of privacy like in modern China. Survival like in US capitalism;) I like when his characters talk to animals and treat them as equal companions.
Naturally, Buster Keaton has always been the dominant character in his films. Actresses were among the others who completed the films. In this movie, Marceline Day left her mark strongly. Even though Audrey Hepburn and Julia Roberts never speak, they can carry a movie with just their looks. Marceline Day inspired these actresses with this movie. She was magic !!!
In 2012 this film was voted #2 in a poll of knowledgeable forum users on the popular Mubi world cinema site (my own favourite Sansho the Bailiff was #1)
@Molly R. Goates Anyway, this film is a real masterpiece. No great interference by the studio for be shooting in New York and be directed (assisted) by Keaton's friend director Edward Sedgwick. Maybe, beginning of the end, but it don't is show in none form or aspect in the film.
Also, Buster is so attractive for literally no reason
we all knew that
He’s attractive for all kinds of reasons.
was he mewwing or something

And you don’t argue with Orson Welles. You just don’t.
Uno straordinario film con un grande Buster Keaton, Grazie.

Ele era muito bom
He co-directed it with Ed Sedgwick but declined a directing credit.

Buster was a genius! And he surrounded himself with other genius's! And he made the world laugh and he was happy too! Thanks Buster!!
I'm glad to meet a Buster's fan

One of his best movies, funny and sweet. Parallels his interest in the camera.
He was such an amazing talent. He said in an interview this was one of his favourites.
I enjoyed watching this excellent film - with the piano beautifully playing.
this is a MASTERPIECE! like they don't make them anymore. PERFECT

These old silent movies (Keaton, Lloyd, Chaplin) are, from very far, the best movies we can find on UA-cam. Thanks Iconauta.
That is the greatest footage I have ever seen of Buster Keaton! Thanks so much for sharing his finominla work. He is such a genius and this film is so impressive and is a new personal favorite. 🎥🎞📽🎬
Buster Keaton an angel with a sad face !
Согласен.
He was called "Great Stone Face"
94 years ago and still hilarious
People look so beautiful and they were dressed so beautifully back then… they are all very talented people too
Oh wow, this is a much better quality download than what I've seen before. Really lets you enjoy the beautiful, soft black and white photography. Oh, how I love this movie.
he said he never rehearsed anything, just talked it through then did it
"bang" fresh...
This is one of my favorites of his; it's brilliant.
How did I miss this film?! I love Buster Keaton. Thank you so very much!
Thank you for this! It's one of my favorite Buster movies. The swimming pool dressing room and swim/driving scene is such a classic!
I'm completely agree with you
As of January 1, 2024, this film is finally in the public domain!

Same!
Yeah I don’t care about boring woke movies. I wanna see some old timesy stuff
I really don’t know what to say such a masterpiece from sir keaton..
The scene where he's shelling out his last found coins on the "let's just walk" date is exactly where "Half Baked" got the scene from! There are so many scenes that were referenced 60+ years later.
The scene in the swimming pool when he loses his bathers was also copied by Rowan Atkinson in a Mr Bean episode.

I think Vaquiro is still my fav Buster film, but this one had some pretty good moments.
Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin are silent movies legends
Era mejor Buster keaton, es uno de los más grandes, a mi parecer mejor que Chaplin 🙏🏼

My gosh, he was precious and beautiful
yes, Keaton was great. In my opinion he is too underrated compared to Chaplin
Just emotional for a time ...great movi great bk
I guess The Joker would have said his famous saying “why so serious” after looking at Buster Keaton cuz he was always serious like no tomorrow....

Best film of the 1920s
40:40 been a fear/ thought in the back of mind when diving. ironic to see it in a 20s movie 🤣
Buster keaton sir , hatts off

Had to be. You don't do stunts like he does and make it look so effortless without being ridiculously fit.
That yankee stadium scene is spectacular

Wow wow the finished time
Keaton in his best! too bad that it was is last silent film
THhis was not his last silent film, but it was his last indipendet movie
Splite Marriage From 1929 was his last. :)

Does anybody know what music this is? When or where it was recorded, or who the composer and/or performer is?
Wow nice story
Best one
See young Yankee Stadium at 17:00 . One of his top ten , or six .
Neat!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻过程艰辛和不被理解,认真用心做事,结局是好的
ALL THEM GIRLS SWIMMING BY HIM OMG
Prude bs same now as a hundred years ago!
Someone needs to make silent movies again to honour this genius. But we couldn't do him justice
I'm only 24 and I'm not conservative. Why do I love these old movie more than modern ones?
Don't mind what you love, the imporant is to have something to love
i dont think being conservative has anything to do with it imo. its always fun to look at films from the past! :)
