The one officer you said you didn't know is actually Admiral Barton Coburn. He served in the Galactic Republic with Jedi Master Plo-Koon. He was the Admiral who helped free the slaves of Kadavo with Plo-Koon. He was immensely respected and therefore, granted him a seat on the Empire's Join Chiefs in the early reign of the Empire.
I must say that the summit meeting was stacked: Coburn, Tarkin, Krennic, Romodi, and Hemlock. Obviously, they would eventually be replaced, and the only truly irreplaceable people in the Empire are the Sith but cone on Hunter, taking them out would have hamstrung the early Empire. I'm also trying to think of early Imperial leaders active during this time: Screed, Yularen, the entire Ruling Council.

Plan 99 could've been a plan they established in a situation where they decide to sacrifice themselves. Also wondering if it's a reference to what 99 did in the Clone Wars sacrificing himself for his brothers
100% has to be. Also the line "not following orders" is a nice touch to Plan 99 given 99 passed after refusing orders to not get the grenades
I think this is exactly it. Plan 99 is literally the ultimate sacrifice, a last resort plan, just like 99 did back in TCW

The poetry of that contrast was beautiful... I knew Dave & Co. were going to pull this shit, they spent the whole season giving Tech the spotlight and making him my favorite character and then ripped my heart out 😭 I'm hoping there's a chance it's a "no body, no death" situation and that maybe Hemlock has him tucked away for another project but I guess we'll have to wait. The Bucky theory might actually be plausible given how similar Tech's fall was to Bucky's fall in the first Captain America film - he even fell from a train (sort of), and that makes me wonder if the nod to that movie was intentional. What a banger of a finale, though, they did an amazing job finishing this season

I read someone's comment in someone's reaction video and he said that Plan 99 is made by the Batch whoever one of them will sacrifice themselves to save the others just like Clone 99 gave his life to save his brothers

I was tearing up as they were running back the Marauder at the end. That music felt grand, and the irony of that tone mixed with all they'd lost that day was getting to me I guess.

Not defending Sid but no smart criminal would ever want to bring the Empires attention their way. I'm guessing that once Hemlock took an interest he tracked the Dad Batch back to Sid and left her no choice.
Since we first met Cid and she said "Don't worry I'm good with secrets." and that one episode where she said "Good, you shouldn't [trust me]" when Hunter threatened her when leaving Omega behind...I knew it was coming. I liked her personality but I always felt she couldn't be trusted.
Tech wouldn't have died if it wasn't for Saw Guerra. No wonder in Rogue One he finally gave up, because a lot of his actions have hurt his compatriots more than helped.
Ironically the people he attempts to kill here, end up killing him on Jedha years later.

I agree. Tech is either dead at Tantiss or barely alive there. With him escaping a more distant third. Hemlock was just too damn smug to have not found him, imo. He loves his theatrics. I think he’d love to collect the entire Batch. For science. 😵💫
This, along with the fact that the Batch doesn't appear in future installments at the moment, implies to me that the show might continue with them dying one by one :(

I'm torn, it could really go either way and make sense for me. He could totally be dead, but it's also very possible he survived (possibly injured or paralyzed) and was taken to Mount Tantiss or somewhere similar by Hemlock.
He needs to be dead and stay dead. There have to be real stakes, or the tension disappears. Makes things less exciting if we're never worried for the characters.

The moment I recognized Saw Guerrera I had a bad feeling about this and damn it scalated Murphy´s Law... I mean his plan just by cananon was not gonna work, all the high commanders he tried to attack survived him and we knew Palpatine got away with clonation still, great to watch you react to this... I'm so sad for Tech
As I see it, he is to blame for Tech’s death. Had he not been setting charges or even got caught, they wouldn’t have been forced into that situation.
@@hiddendesire3076 Sure, but if the Batch hadn’t been there, Saw’s plan might’ve worked and they would’ve dealt a serious blow to the Death Star Project. Both teams messed up each other’s plans.
I liked your comparison to this season finale to Empire Strikes Back. Both endings left us desperately wanting answers. But instead leaving us with more questions. I remember my frustrations in 81 about having to wait years for Return of the Jedi. That is how I feel about Season 2 Bad Batch finale.
I also felt season 1 had a kind of Empire Strikes Back feel, as the destruction of the Kaminoan cities suggested that truly the Republic was dead, and that this is the new order. One thing is for sure, we can't have a Rebels happy ending to all this; this show will end horribly for our crew, all the clones, and the galaxy, as it was meant to be.
Objectively Omega crying out Tech after he falls harms the heart the greatest, but under appreciated in that metric is the Heartfelt desperation in Hunter's voice when he said "Wrecker, get him ON BOARD!"
I know people are having out hope Tech survived the fall, and believe me part of me wishes that too.
But he was attached to that carriage that fell directly on him up thousands upon thousands of feet in the air. And even if by somekind of miracle he did survive and Hemlock was just smuggling to Hunter, critical would be an understatement for his body's condition. Hell, if anything it could be a Grievous like situation of what's left of him. Point is that if Tech was somehow alive, he'd be in a literally living hell, and that's something i don't think any of us want. Especially after what Echo's been through.
Plan 99 is in reference to the clone named 99 that we saw in Clone wars, who was a defective clone who was a janitor and the Republic army kind of discarded him because he couldn't really fight well cuz he was very deformed, but when the attack on Camino by the separatist forces came, he helped protect some clone cadets and when they were under threat he sacrificed himself so that the young clones could survive, and he actually helped delay the entire attack by sacrificing himself. He saved Camino as a whole by sacrificing himself pretty much but he did it for the young cadets that he was protecting.
TLDR
Squad comes before self always.
Now it makes sense: the Bad Batch's scenario-operation for Plan 99 is referring to when 99 sacrificed himself on Kamino!!!!! And moreover every time Saw shows up anywhere, he ruins everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Plan 99 refers to an old and defective clone that sacrificed himself to allow other clones to escape. Basically sacrificed himself for the many.
I knew Tech was going to die the moment she said: " see you around, brown eyes."
"See you in a minute", "I'll be right back", and "see you around" are the mark of death for a fictional character.
Sheesh it's been nearly two months and I still can't watch the episode without crying.
Also I feel like Cid sold them out when the Batch signaled they were coming, but she atleast seemed to regret it after she knew that Tech had died. I always had a soft spot for Trandoshans, so i am hoping for a redemption next Season. not sure if she deserves it tho

Fantastic finale but I'm devastated about Tech! As someone with autism, I've always struggled with expressing emotions and to see Tech, someone very like me, make that choice to sacrifice himself, lay down his life for the people he loved was so powerful. I'm assuming he is dead until we learn otherwise because I dare not give myself hope.
I really loved S1 but S2 was on another level. There were so many good episodes, The Clone Conspiracy, Truth and Consequences and Metamorphosis come to mind but seeing Palpatine in the Senate was probably my favourite scene this season.
I didn't believe the Emerie is a clone theory but what a great reveal! Interested to see what her story is. Just makes me wonder how many female Jango clones there are and whether he knew about them? Just makes me wonder how many female Jango clones there are out there. It was surprising to learn that there was one when we met Omega but this is getting out of hand. Now there are TWO of them!

Do remember though in Star Wars fashion when a character falls but we don’t see a body or hear the impact there’s always that slim chance of survival. My hope is that the railcar Tech was still attached to manages to get caught on something and he just banged his helmet on something and it caused his goggles to fall off

This is what Star Trek fans lived through back in the day with the classic 'Best of Both Worlds' cliffhanger. "WHAAT!? OMG, how are they..." "To be continued next season." Well played, Star Wars.
Also, I loved Hunter's "they're taking my kid" moment here -- it was every bit as dramatic as Din's in Mando S2.
Ah I remember seeing Best Of Both Worlds when it aired, it was so good. TNG and Babylon 5 were great shows back then.

I think Tech's alive. We never see the body, and the only person who claims to have actually seen his body is someone we have no reason to trust.
A New Hope kind of wrapped things up, like season 1 of Bad Batch. Empire Strikes Back ended with a cliffhanger just like season 2 of Bad Batch.
Season 1 of Bad Batch started the first week of May 2021... so hopefully we will only have to wait a year again for the next season.
Thing to consider, in true Hollywood fashion, there was no body. Hemlock said it was all they could salvage, if they had anything more substantial, he would have displayed it. I don't know how he could have survived, but it is not definite that he is gone...yet. He was in armor and if he was falling into a heavily forested area, there is a chance the trees and slopes may have been enough.
I can't get past the fact that Hunter is bandaged OVER his armor...

I'm sorry Tech is dead. No way in hell he survived that fall with that thing fall with him & crushed him. The mad scientists brought proof by giving Tech's goggles to Hunter to tell the audience he is dead, the man have proof it's proof. I'm sorry I have to go on a rant on this but it's pissing me off on everyone believe each characters gets killed off (doesn't matter which franchise it is) if characters dead by falling like what about to Tech, he's 100% dead, he can not survive that fall not with that armor of his, Star Wars does not have PLOT ARMORS FOR KILLING THE CHARACTERS!! I don't want to hear someone saying "No death no body" THEN EXPLAIN HOW TECH FALL?! You can't because there is no reason to explain that, he's dead, I'm sad to see him go don't get me wrong, I had the feeling he was gonna get killed off but I didn't want to believe it cuz they develop his characters but I jinx it. Sorry I have go on a rant on that cuz I'm getting tired of every since fandom of each different franchise believe each character gets killed off by falling, or getting crushed by a building, or even getting explode & say that they're not dead, they survive, keeping saying & saying they have plot armor which is pissing me off. The writers & the directors wants to kill off one of characters that's their choice their decision & we can't do nothing about it & we just have to move on.
No body, no death!!!!!Tech might have shot his wire at the nearby tower as he fell in the fog, and he lost was his goggles, hence why they could only recover that. They weren't going to tell them that he got away. They needed to crush their spirits.
I think "plan 99" means "you will now go on without me. No opposition. Go and dont look back" which would make it so more tragic :(

Tech followed in the footsteps of 99, sacrificing himself for his brothers, the ultimate expression of individuality for the clones, a perfect flip of the personality destroying order 66.
I blame Saw Gerrera for the failure of the mission on Eriadu... Also, maybe Tech's death is an Echo situation... When Echo "died" we saw his broken helmet... It would be really ballsy for the creative team to actually leave him dead like they did with Kanan
We see Kanan get exploded though.
So to recap, basically everything we knew was going to happen, happened; we knew Tech was going to die, we knew Omega was going to be captured, we knew that female Dr. was a clone, we knew Cid was going to betray them, the only thing that didn't happen that we thought was going to happen was Pabu's destruction.
So why were all these events so surprising to everyone when we knew they were going to happen? I mean the show had the subtlety of a fireworks factory exploding when it came to these points.
Because some people watch shows for...wait for it....fun. Sure it was obvious, but there's still always that chance something different happens. The journey vs the destination and all that.
Just because we know doesn't mean it's not good to see. It's fun to see how they do it even if we know it's going to happen.
I'm very conflicted rn. If Tech stays dead, it would really add to a heroes sacrifice, but we didn't see a body so I'm still thinking maybe hemlock found it and captured him? Idk. I don't wanna keep doing this trope of characters always surviving all the time. I hope Dave can stick to Tech staying dead. Maybe this can really motivate crosshair to comeback to the team knowing his brother is sacrifice, knowing the empire did this to his brothers.
Hemlock found a blood stain and nothing else. Believe me, those salvage teams were thorough as Tarkin would want a very detailed report after they were done.

I'm pissed. I'm genuinely upset about Tech's death. Not to mention, is Crosshair dead too?! "I tried to warn him what would happen to him if he did not cooperate." You're not about to tell me we actually lost two out of five in one episode... what the hell does that mean for the rest of the team? Is the entire Bad Batch going to die by the end of the series?
I don't think Plan 99 is what Tech was doing. I think it was an instruction: Don't come back for me.
Man I was wondering about the amount of Focus that Tech got this Season. Now we know why, but I still think that hemlock has him in Mt. Tantiss in a Bacta Tank somewhere. I just hope he is

They gave Tech the most character development this season (his relationship with Omega was adorable) for the whole purpose of ripping our hearts out when they killed him off

I really hope they don't pull a "somehow Tech survived" twist next season. This is the first real loss (death-wise, not counting Crosshair or Omega getting captured) the Batch has suffered. Let it have an impact and don't undermine it by bringing him back.
They, the showrunners, could twist the knife a bit if Tech was barely hanging to life when Hemlock recovered him (he surely recovered more than Tech's goggles) and we see Tech's broken body turned into something like what the Techno Union tried with Echo.
I know. I've had enough fake out deaths in Star Wars, it's sort of refreshing to feel some some real loss again, as sad as it is.
Idc how overdone or cliché the "somehow they survived " trope is, I just want Tech back. Though, even if they do bring him back I doubt it will be in s3 unless that's the last season. Echo died in s3 and wasn't brought back until s7.
It's star Wars, odds are he's the main redeemable antagonist next season as a darktrooper or something ☠️
I'm ok with either choice, if they decide to truly keep him dead or bring him back. My current theory is that if he comes back, he'll be permanently paralyzed or something along those lines, or possibly brainwashed into a "believer" by Hemlock, so that even if he's back, it won't be the same Tech that we know and love.
Bucky, Pettigrew, Frodo's shirt, the line "This was all we found" has become synonymous with "He's still alive" to me
He didn’t say it was all they found. He said it was all he could “salvage”. Indicating his body was too mangled to do anything with.

@@Jaaol1 I don’t see any possible way he could’ve survived. They didn’t know he would fall so they couldn’t have been waiting for him. The drop was too far to survive hitting the ground. And even if he survived the ground, he had an entire rail car coming down on top of him.
Kudos on the predictions. Am I the only one who saw a bit of "Where Eagles dare" in this episode ? Bonus points for a "strikes back" vibe in a "kid" show
I really wish they did more with the entire first third of this season, but this finale really hit me. Watching that Mandalorian episode right after made for a great Star Wars Wednesday. Hopefully we can get more Bad Batch soonish.

Think about it: if not for Gonky alerting Echo, things would have been worse.
What if, this was the last straw for Tarkin and he vowed that one day he would hurt the rebels 1 million fold for attacking his home. Alderaan was his revenge.
Tarkin for me remains my most despised Character, being so proper and polite while killing everyone you care about right in front of you.
As much I saw it coming from Sid she's too smart of a criminal to ever want the attention of the Empire. I think think the Dad Batch left a trail that led to her and she was offered the "tell us what we want to know or we kill everyone" deal.

I feel like the Republic Commandos are going to become the first generation of Dark Troopers.
That was such an epic finale. It rivaled the Clone Wars finale for me. I also really enjoyed how masterfully done it was. The slow build-up to what was about to unfold; how everything just seemed like another cliché mission for them until the uneasiness starts to settle in when Echo finds out about the cycled deactivation. Masterfully done, Dave
Echo's death is up there with Fives for me. This finale was just... *chef's kiss*
I also would like to say that I blame Saw for Tech's death; he talks about sacrifice, so when is he going to have to sacrifice something as opposed other people having to sacrifice everything only to just barely escape Eriadu alive.

How come none of these guys had jet packs. You’d think at least one would so he could risk himself like Tech did in that situation
Where would they acquire one of those? They weren’t even close to standard issue.
Here are my predictions for the next season: Wrecker will have a little character arc where he feels guilty about Tech's death, and Echo will be the one to help him through it (hopefully referencing Domino Squad). Hunter might go a little too far in some ways whilst trying to get Omega back. Echo ends up being the one who has to keep it together. Crosshair and Omega will bond with Emerie, the clone doctor lady, for a few episodes on Mount Tantis. The Batch finds the location of the base by the mid-season finale, but ultimately it will be up to Omega and Emerie to escape the facility and get rescued by the Batch. The second half of the season will focus on the rest of the group learning to trust Crosshair again. We may have a bit of time, either after the mid-season or the season finale where they spend some time on Pabu and we get a bit of a time jump. Until we get a little teaser that Tech was brought back and has been turned into the first Dark Trooper.
Also I feel like at some point we'll see Quinlan Vos in the series.

Sure Saw Gerrera got Tech killed, destroyed their ability to find Hemlock's secret facility, and skipped before facing any consequences himself, but at least he didn't kill any of the high level Imperial targets he was aiming for in the end. Completely worth it.

This season finale gave off Empire Strikes Back vibes: protagonists defeated and is in low morale, the Empire achieved a victory by kidnapping Omega, and one of the main protagonists is gone. As a Star Wars fan, I know that they have a pattern that if a character's body isn't shown, then there is hope they are still alive. Hemlock said he only found the goggles, but where was Tech's body? Either Hemlock took the body and is doing experiments on it, or Tech somehow managed to survive the fall and will find his way back to the gang.
I'm also eager to find out how exactly Emerie and Omega are sisters? Is she an accelerated clone? Is she the original Omega clone? Or is she the biological daughter or sister of Jango Fett? Either way this will help to answer the mystery of how Omega is a clone even though she is a girl.

As much as I want Tech back. We all saw the debris is right on top of him. By the time he landed, that debris must’ve smashed his entire body. With that little detail, it makes sense he’s actually dead. If you think water is down there, at that fall is still equal to hitting a concrete ground regardless. Even the distance/gap between Tech & the debris is that close, there’s no way he’d avoid it while in water.

Theory: At least for the first half of season 3 we are on one side focussing on nala se, omega, her sister, and crosshair on tantis with tech coming in later on, and maybe seeing cody. If not he´ll be on the other side with rex and the rest batch helping each other on finding the clones (aka clone rebellion plus recovering omega). Probs when they´ll get out of tantis, crosshair will sacrifice himself for omega. But mainly, we will definetly see wolffe next season. And my hope is that after the clone rebellion chapter is over we are going to get the forming of the next sparks by meeting up with ashoka, but i could lowkey also see them pulling the plug after, so that the batch can retire around omega, even if i don´t want that. I think the strongest end would be vader having one cameo, beeing killing a bunch of clones including echo.
To be fair I cried so hard at this scene and I'm 33
