This video is all about how to adjust the seat of KTM DUKE 390...
same is the procedure of ktm RC 390..

I watched 4 minutes of this to see how to adjust the seat height then found out he is adjusting the pre load on the rear shock. That is to adjust for weight not for height. Do not listen to this guy, this is bad advice and can affect the cornering of the bike in a real bad way!
It's not for seat adjustment genius... It's for suspension adjustment tight- hard,lose-soft .... Ask to any one bro...

In indian road we need to put little flushy mode because of roads more you tight you will get stability in cornering
Congratulations. You have softened the rear suspension. And that can be really dangerous on corners and on certain situations. Don’t share such diy’s with out proper knowledge, else someone might get hurt.
My thoughts exactly, because from what I know about preload adjustment....it should be based on the riders weight and not height
That's monoshock adjust for the rear. It will make your ride hard n plushed depending on what you do.
Bro there is a seat lowering kit available on the ktm website. This reduces height by 25 mm. You can try installing it.

Its a Pre load adjuster that your talking about not height adjuster. What you did was to increase the sag of the suspension which will affect the handling of the bike.
it is not setting the ride height, it is just making the suspension softer. by which the bike gets lower easily due to human weight. wouldn't recommend going full soft. keep it slightly towards the stiff side. per se 3/10
thats spring preload adjustment, you are making the rear shock softer, not lowering the seat! this has nothing to do with seat height, but it will affect ride quality under load or in high speed. you can install ktm official lowering kit at the dealers, with shorter springs inside both front and rear shocks. i believe the seat height will get lowered by 30mm or so.
I think it's the spring preload that you adjusted which increases or decreases the stiffness of the suspension.

It completely changes the handling if you set it to the lower setting at high speeds. Not a good option if you are a fast rider.

You get a lowering kit from ktm .. which reduces the height by 25MM. They change front and rear suspension springs I suppose.

Ur adjusting it's preload, and it should be adjusted depending on ur weight.....because it could be dangerous on how it affects the motorcycle performance but I'll give it a thumbs up anyways

Make sure your suspension is not fully compressed when you sit on it. Becuase The rear shock won't rebound and the bike will slip if hit a bump. It should go down 1/3 down when u sit on it and enough space to rebound suspension never be fully compressed when u sit on it

Yes you can, if you change rear tire to slim and replace ktm 250 mono shocks, then you can chop seat cushion too. Height will be perfect for 5.1ft

That is not for adjusting the saddle height ! It determines the rigidity of the suspension...
The lower you crank the dial the softer your bikes suspension will get, the higher you turn it, the suspension will get much harder...
It's simply that soft suspension setting allows the bike to further get lower with tha same weight...
Suspension settings should not be fiddled with unless you want a change in the feel of riding it on a certain terrain...
Soft for bumpy and non ideal surfaces and hard for nice roads and tracks.

Ktm showroom people are saying this is unsafe .. if u do this to ur bike n also if i do this only for 2 or 3 points and if pillion sits that get too lower boz of soft suspension please tell us what to do

Duke why u are seating on tank n doing that will not lower the height it will make suspension soft ..
This is preload adjustment. It shouldn't be done as a height adjustment, this is completely wrong from a safety and performance point. This adjustment should be made based on rider weight only!

If you carefully notice the tail of the bike with reference to the wall while he is rotating the monoshock the seat is lowering down....

That's not height adjuster.. that's the adjustment for preload of suspension.. you just made it more stiff... But it did the job of reducing the seat height as a result of compressing the spring

Its not height adjustment. Its the shock preload adjust will make the suspension very soft. Not recommended if you ride it with pillion or high speed.

😂bro clear case of mis guidance. No offence. You adjusted the preload of suspension, its nothing related to seat height adjustment. It does affect the handling characteristics of the motorcycle.

It is not there to adjust height it is to make suspension hard or soft, you have soften the suspension which will cause bumpy ride and unstable bike at high speed

@@charliezoa4899 same here my friend 5'2 had had rc 200 (2016 version ) and he can barely reach with his both toe but after 1 month he was completely adapted to rc200 and he had no problems in traffic too it was just he became so comfortable ...he used to stop with one leg at traffic..he mainly used right leg to stop at traffic.. Some people of 5'5 or 5'6 are complaining like its high and hard in traffic for them..and i use to think in my mind about my friend 5'2 and i feel like laughing out so hard in my mind hahahaha 😂😂😂
