Thank you Saint riot for returning to lothric and making us remember the good old days, the days where my father wasn’t an alcoholic and didn’t abuse the belt meta.
2:10 is a work of art. Careful, Timbo! That backstab attempt still counts as an attack. Oh no, poor Timbo. He tried that Finger Remedy and, just like with Embers, he died.
I’ve been making a concerted effort this time around to get some experience with PvP before the DLC arrives with its influx of players. I was one of the players who really only got into Dark Souls 3 PvP when the DLC dropped and while that was a fun time to be playing the game, I do regret not starting earlier. I’ve already squandered a year of Elden Ring but I returned to it in earnest about two weeks ago. No more excuses about invasions being too hard. It’ll never be easier to get good than it is right now. Keep up the good work saint and thanks for being a continued source of encouragement
You're an avid straightsword user so you might know this but; Note on square off; its really good for rollcatching after landing a heavy attack, both standing R2 or running R2 (1h and 2h work). The L2+R1 rollcatches a panic roll frame perfect, and then next time do L2+R2 to mix it up. Usually catches a double panic roll. Gigasthiccas recently, finally showcased the combo Ive been preaching since forever; SS thrusting R2 truecombos into an offhand dagger hit -> square off light attack rollcatch :)
I CAN'T BELIEVE HE SAID THAT HOT TAKE Edit: Let's be real, Poise should be divided into pre-attack and mid-attack poise, instead of having no poise before the attack and all the poise during it. If the pre-attack poise was LOWER than the mid-attack poise, then the sword's charge attack could break through pre-attack poise but you would have to time it correctly, which rewards good timing while also having a risk of messing up the timing and landing a weaker hit while the mid-attack poise is active thus not interrupting the attack and causing you to take a big hit in return. You could make pre-attack/mid-attack poise damage reduction 15/30% for attacks that don't break your poise, while making you take 15/30% more damage if your poise is broken (not counting the bonus counter damage from pierce type attacks). That said the devs have a long time to figure out what they want to do and I trust them to experiment and arrive at a better overall experience through the DLCs. Personally I'm still in love with the 2 hit combo for weapons from DS3 and hope to see that return in some fashion, specially considering all weapons got new animations. It punished you with huge damage against great weapons while rewarding them for good counter timing, and faster weapons could output decent damage while risking losing a trade with a heavier player, which I felt was a good balance (at least until people started pulling their pants and slamming the best 1 hit combo on the table, I still don't quite enjoy fighting spiked mace maniacs getting R1 WA R1 and proc'ing bleed).
that spinning strikes opener was quick and brutal. Love it. Also there are still some true combos to mess with in Elden Ring. Knight's Greatsword can true combo its 2nd and 3rd R1s(so you can do stamp > R1 to skip the first R1 in the chain), and the Beastclaw Greathammer can still do R2 > R1 I think
I'd been loving Lucerne w/ Double Slash, but ever since the latest patch, i swear I've noticed an increase in Spinning Slash on all applicable weapon types from those that invade me
Lol at 2:20 it looked like the duelist npc guy was saints doppelganger like vergil in dmc. Also. I know this is a long shot that you'll even see this and an even longer shot that youll do it, but I'm just throwing it out there, if you made a little guide video on how to get better at landing back stabs me and I think alot of other people would really love you even more for it lol. I played ds3 before er but I was still 5 years late to ds3 and I was never able to catch up to everyone else's skill level and I am so bad at backstabs that I forget they even exist until I get back stabbed
Look up "Project Goof backstab" and check out the videos he made. I'll add, it's really just practice. For roll BS you'll learn to roll early so the end of your s avoid the start of an attack that gives you time to get the BS. Or learning what attacks don't hit which angles so you can run in and BS on 2nd R1s, running attacks, etc.
"This is the only game I can make a knight guy and invade other peoples knight guys and wizard" Lords of the Fallen is apparently gonna have invading. Comes out in two months, I think.
I wonder if it would ruin the sandbox for us to get a parry that can counter normally-unparryable greatweapons like Colossals, but nothing else, like it just doesn’t parry medium and small arms (unless you’re out of FP then it’s back to default parry). You could even call it Greatparry.
Real talk though, I played elden ring enjoying the poise system it reminded me of Dark Souls 1 PVP and I loved it. Will be looking forward to seeing the returning players come to the dlc lol
It's still a thing, it's just that most weapons have had their first swing's poise damage increased to virtually guarantee breaking through poise, in tandem with hyperarmor buffs on larger weapons and some spells/skills to help them cope. The idea is to make it easier to chain hits together, but passive poise still exists and still sort of matters
I feel like playing Elden Ring like Dark Souls 3 and using DS3 weapon techs would throw people off. Seems like you were doing work with square off and the like. Maybe this is your chance to make your DS3 weaponfu shine.
I'm one of those 15 million people that isn't playing Elden Ring at the moment, I played Bloodborne for a couple of months, and now I'm playing Dark Souls 3 currently. I am coming back to Elden Ring tho.
Starting the game off with passive poise and then doing a rug pull into DS3 is definitely going to be funny for the people returning, sure, but personally I'd rather continue to have fun instead of going back to a game I dropped specifically because *that* system pissed me off. Glad you're having fun with the patch man, but 1.10 has really sucked all the fun out of Elden Ring for me
@@Dunwolf_ aye man at this point, if you still getting hit by moonveil, you better rethink life fam. Yeah, it does dmg, but you can see it from a mile away.

Damn😂
can believe they haven't nerf belts yet, iv'e litteraly been wrecked by them for YEARS :((
I laughed unreasonably hard at "belt meta."
😢
Are you KIDDING ME with the backstab whiff that ends up hitting and killing another player, going straight into a parry
literally shit my pant when he did that
I'd be so pissed but then again what are the odds lmao
@@PseudoNym13 I'd definitely be pissed too, but super impressed as well.

Thanks for knocking me out of the way in that Leyndell invasion lol
I knew that parry was coming because he'd got me with one earlier
Gg guys it was a good fight!
I love that shield you're using. I feel like its a little wink at DS.
"Little" wink? Between the name and the description, it feels like a pretty big wink to me lol

This is the first, and probably the last time I will ever see anyone use spinning strikes
I'm playing DS3 now and just about to fight Oceiros, the acehole! haha
it would be so hilarious if they added an npc invader that sometimes did the weapon/shield waggle just to trip up players...
I'm hoping they add dlc invaders like in ds2 that act like players
that spinning strikes opener was quick and brutal. Love it.

Jumping around in a Return To Lothric video? Wtf am I watching

Lothric is literally me
Darksouls 3 invasions were just so pure. Elden Ring has a different feel to it but it feels nice.
I did go back to lothric about a month ago. Invasions have been pretty active on Xbox whereas Eden ring invasions are few and far between.
