- In this video we go over what the symptoms are of a stretched or stretchy clutch cable, how to narrow it down, and then we go through replacing the whole thing. This bug is a 1957 but others will be quite similar.

Excellent work!!
Thank you for the video. I have been fighting where the cable enters the tube. Your video was the ticket...
Awesome! I'm glad it helped you out!
Thanks for the video, man!
Been trying to fix up the clutch on my bug too haha
Nice to see long form videos man, very informative. Good content. 🤙
Thanks my friend! This long form video was cut down considerably! (:
@@zacthefix I typically film somewhere between 40 and 70 minutes and edit it down to around 20 or 25 🤣
I like the piece of wood to keep the clutch pedal from falling rearward and having the cable eye fall off the hook. I've used my left shoulder or a brick to keep that up until connecting at the rear. Some like a bread tie or cable tie to hold the eye onto the hook during installation.
Thanks!
A bread tie or zip tie would’ve been too simple, I gotta complicate it 😄
Good to know though, I’ll remember that for next time 🤙🏻
Hell of a video
Thanks! I appreciate it
Great Video! Off topic, but No clamps on the Fuel Filter? What size is the rubber hose and steel tube?
This is just the standard metal fuel line that is part of the bug from the factory. I’ve seen guys commenting on how you don’t need clamps with original braided fuel line and, sure enough, they don’t use clamps when you look in the Bentley manuals. The clamps tend to mushroom out the end of the hose and cause it to crack when they’re tightened down.
I’ve started to cautiously adopt the no-clamp method and it’s been working great! Haven’t had a single issue.
