    Vice grips are one of the best problem silver tools ever made. And it looks like all these long bolts that go through the simulated frame sections because they reside in a rust chamber they should be stainless.. Factory could have at least blown in under coating so they didn't,rott from a designed failure. Cheap ass AMC coulda built a frame so they didn't crumble.

    Do you need to have alignment done after doing this and moving steering components? Replaced rear shocks, front shocks, all tie rod setup, and upgraded trackbar from your videos. Also lower control arms. Shop did uppers. Just got alignment done, not wanting to take it back yet lol thanks!

    • @OutJeeping
      @OutJeeping  5 місяців тому

      No you should not need an alignment. The steering box will be put back in the exact same spot with the new bracket so nothing will move in the steering.

    Hi man thank's a lot for this vidéo (sorry for my english i'm french ) so, i have broke tow of the screws of my stearing geer bos so i can drive and turn left on the the road, a chance i wasn't far from the house.
    I did all you have explain on your great video, i succeed to brake the spacer plate and put of the broken screws as you explained, i ordered a new spacer plate from US but i can't find the new screws or you can find them at 50 or 60 dol with 50dol for shiping
    they are impossible to find them in france, i have oem screws in good condition but they are to short for the new plate wich is more higher than the original one
    so !
    there is tow solutions,
    first :
    i cut the new plate to fit with the original scews
    or i find screws at the good longer like you did.
    Could you tel me if you have any sugestion and website to by the screws like yours
    best regards

      I would try to get the correct fasteners. The bolt/screws you need can be a standard 7/16" UNC bolt that is about 3.5 inches long. They should be available at any hardware store.

    i got a loud clunk noise when turning my 01' XJ. I've recently replaced my drag link, tie rods, track bar and damper. Balljoints and control arms still seem good. The closest component I can trace it down to is the steering gearbox. Could it be that this aluminum brace be cracked and causing the noise?

    • @OutJeeping
      @OutJeeping  Рік тому

      It could be. Best is to diagnose and have someone turn the wheel as you look under the Jeep to see where it's coming from.

    • @blueblade455
      @blueblade455 Рік тому

      @@OutJeepingI did have a friend help turn the steering wheel and can only feel by hand that the noise still seems to be coming from the gearbox. I took a chance and I ordered a new (not remanufactured) gearbox and got a good steel spacer plate from eBay. The problem I got now before even starting this job is the spacer plate is so thick that the curvature of the gearbox is hitting the plate. So the mounting bosses will not sit flush against the spacer plate. I can see why the original aluminum was so thin between the round spacers themselves, just to make clearance for the gearbox itself. I'm probably just gonna track down a good used aluminum factory one for now. It's a shame cause the plate really is a good solution to the breaking of these aluminum ones and it stiffens up the frame area too. Just doesn't work for me.

      To keep water and debris from getting sprayed up in the engine. Alternator sits low and doesn't like to get wet, same with serpentine belt.
